Jerry Jones: Adam Jones to be reinstated, eligible to play Dec. 7

From DMN blog

DMN Cowboys beat reporter Brian Davis, attending the Final Four announcement, reports that Cowboys owner and general manager Jerry Jones said that suspended cornerback Adam Jones will be cleared to return to practice next Monday and will be eligible to play Dec. 7 at Pittsburgh.

Jones said the cornerback could return to the facility later this week.

Jones also said the league is expected to make the announcement either tonight or tomorrow.

total BS.....6 games for a little horseplay.....1 game for assaulting a woman (Larry Johnson) 3 games for felony cocaine possession (Matt Jones)

That so called “patron” who called the cops cuz they heard a lil disturbance in a hotel bathroom should be found and beaten….mind your friggin business next time…

That whole thing was blown completely out of proportion…….and didn’t justify a suspension at all…I can understand disiplinary action, maybe a 1- 2 game suspension….but 6 friggin games ?? Jarrad Allen drives his helmut into a QB’s face, and get’s his 1 game suspension over turned ?? Albert Hainsworth didn’t get 6 games for ripping open Goroude’s face with his cleats for pete’s sake !!!

Its not a 6 game susp

he will not be game ready until after the sea game. He has not practiced with the team and will need to work his way in practice before he can play. The two games come in a 10 dy span and is probably not enough time to be ready to play.

It is a 6 game suspension

Read Jerry’s statement. Will be ELIGIBLE for the Dec 7th game. Not READY for the Dec 7th game.

i think he's lucky to get back in at all

the incident by itself, had it been anyone else, probably wouldnt have required any fines or suspensions. but the dude has a past, a LOOOONG one. and right or wrong, his past played into the suspension. not to mention the fact that one of the stipulations of him even being allowed to sign with the cowboys was that he stay out of trouble. which he obviously cant.

im a cowboy fan first and foremost. anyone who puts on that uniform and helmet, i will defend til im blue in the face but you got to admit he makes it sooooooooooooo freaking hard.

honestly, i think the person that needs to get beaten is pacman. maybe then, it’ll humble him and he can get to the buisness of playing ball.

That works

Pac did his time, this last thing was no big deal. And for all of you getting ready to call this guy a “punk”, get your head in the game. So many of these players come from hard backgrounds that you can’t even dream of so let him play the game. Besides, as long as the coaches don’t let him disrupt the work by the youngins of the secondary, he is like icing on the cake.

Deal with it and cheer him on.

Romo’s take from S-T blog

The players sound in support of bringing back Adam “Pacman” Jones if he is reinstated by NFL commissioner Roger Goodell.

Quarterback Tony Romo and nose tackle Tank Johnson say bring him back if he gets another chance.

“If he is reinstated we will definitely welcome him back,” Romo said. “When he was here he worked very hard and he helped us. He’s a good football player and I don’t see why you wouldn’t welcome a guy back that works hard on the practice field.”

another reason why Jerry Jones is a complete joke as a GM

Instead of making a stand with players in this organization and sending a strong message, Jerry is once again the enabler, last chance never really means last chance with Jerry as much as he said it time and time again when he traded for this clown. The guy should of been cut as soon as he was supended.

I hope Goodell makes an example out of Jeryy with the condition, if Pacrat has one more run in, you lose a first round draft pick, because that’s the only way Jerry will get it…

first of all

Crayton isn’t as good as Pacrat, you know that and if he’s taking away valuable playing time from our rookies, then gets suspended, the rooks will have lost valuable playing time.

Its also a chemistry problem, just isn’t a good thing him getting suspended multiple times throughout the year.

Thats been a complaint of mine with this organization

especially when Bill was in charge, thie organization never seems to get rookies in games even in garbage time, valuable time IMO for rookies to get their feet wet during the season. We’ve got drafted players left on the bench for years. The Giants last year got their rookies in alot during the season and it showed in the playoffs……

Pac is a bonus at this point…..purely depth, and If he’s gone again….we’ve done well without him,and quite frankly don’t need him…..But he’s not going to stunt anyones growth!

Jerry essentually got rid of Jimmy because Jerry thought he knew more about running the football team

and drafting players, well how has that worked out…He had to take a back seat and hire a real football guy in Bill Parcells to fix his mess..

Now Jerry is back in charge, hired another puppet head coach and the team is barely above 500 with a team that’s suppose to be loaded with talent but plays like a team that has no talent, makes the same mistake week in and week out and a coach that sounds like a duffus during his press conferences..

by Deke on Nov 19, 2008 6:15 PM CST up reply actions

Because...

you were in the room when all this happened? The way Jimmy Johnson has described it in interviews, it DIDN’T happen that way. What he implied happened was that Jones was enjoying the limelight too much and he offended Johnson. He called it a personality conflict. He definitively stated that he and Jerry got along well on the sideline and the draft room, just not the press room.

But look, that doesn’t fit your storyline, so feel free to assume the same things the media does and run with that. Definitely run with that.

Jerry was spouting off that anyone could coach this team

at a bar. Jerry and Jimmy were not getting along, Jerry thought Jimmy was getting too much of the credit, Jerry with his ego was telling reporters at a bar about replacing Jimmy with Barry Switzer, a guy Jimmy didn’t like one bit, when Jerry was known for shooting his mouth off when he was drinking, Jerry used to drink quite a bit, something he gave up….

hint: when you spend $100mm to buy a team, then hire someone most consider incompetent to show the team is so good it could win with anyone coaching you are a joke.

all the fans who talk about how jerry only wants to win always forget this.

jerry wants 2 things for the team to win and for him to get credit.

when the team wins and he doesn’t get credit he goes and hires a buffoon to coach the team so people know that the coach is a puppet. it ever ceases to amuse me that in this league of recycled coaches where kotite gets multiple hc gigs and wade gets to be head coach 6 times that after jimmy left jerry hired 3 guys who never got another look as a hc…

jerry helps the league from a business perspective but he is a bad owner for the team and a terrible GM

That's debatable

It all depends on who was responsible for the picks while Bill was here, which we will never know.

I wasn't a big fan of Tuna being hired because I knew what he would do in the first two years

Bring in older former players that he knew, and there were many. I wanted the team blown up and started a new, sometihng he did after the second year. The talent got markably better and he changed the system and organization from top to bottom, you cant deny that. The core on this team are his players.

Tuna’s record of turing teams around is undeniable. Just look what the Dolphins are doing this year….

This team needs a headcoach that’s calling the shots, not a coach where the players know isn’t calling the shots, the shots are being called from the owner/GM’s booth…

We’ve had lots of headcoaches since Jimmy left and Switzer won with Jimmy’s players, but this organization has two things in common, no playoffs wins, poor drafts and no championships, at what point is some of these blind cowboy fans going to start to hold the GM accountable instead of holding on to the thee superbowl wins which are becoming ancient history….

even a blind squirrel finds a nut once in awhile

But what I do know, under Jerry since 95, this team jas none….Every year I read everyone on here, we’re going to in the superbowl, and when I point out what the problems are that will keep you from getting to the superbowl, all I hear is that I’m the hater.

This team has the talent but there is something systematically wrong with this club. Its always shows you the promise like it did in the fourth quarter in Washington, no penalties, solid Oline play, solid running game but this week this team could show up once again asleep and lose to the 49’ers.

Everyone continues to point to Romo as the savior, its not Romo that’s going to get this team to the playoffs or a superbowl, This team is a running team. it will be this Oline and the defensive line and how they play, if the Oline continues to take numerous penalties every game, doesn’t protect better than what they’ve shown at times and the Defensive line doesn’t get sustained pressure, this team isn’t going anywhere. This team has yet to play a complete game, it’s always a mixed bag of mistakes and poor play every week..

has this won a plaoff game terry in the last few years

Why do you think that is?? This team has been to pass happy and trying to get it in to the hands of T.O to much. There isn’t enough Balance with this offense.

Do you remember the cleveland game and how the running game set up the play action and the time that gave Romo. This line hasn’t played that well since. It showed signs against the packers and in the fourth quarter against washington, the rest of the time, its been poor at running the ball, too many times in third and long and you just cant win consistantly in this league being in third and long all the time. or trying to pass 65% of the time..

by Deke on Nov 19, 2008 7:19 PM CST up reply actions

I agree that our pass/run ratio

should be more like 60/40 but winning in the NFL comes down to making plays and no qb in the league makes more plays than Romo.

in the last 16 games

what is dallas, two games above five hundred, is that acceptable with this talent, Romo has just as much been part of the probem whether you want to believe it or not.

How many times have I’ve been saying this team needs a legitimate backup, and if this Oline actually played up to their potential, they should of won two of the three games when Romo was out. But make no mistake about it, Romo has been part of the problem with this team with his poor decisions, poor mechanics at times, his fumbles, and poor throws but somehow you take that as a slight against your boy, he’s a quarterback, not the savior or a jedi knight and cant walk on water… I dont hate the guy at all, as much as you seem to think I do, he’s a quarterback that needs to start playing better, as the whole team needs too.

by Deke on Nov 19, 2008 7:29 PM CST up reply actions

if it wasn't for Romo

the Cowboys would have been many, many games under .500 in the last 16 games, whether you want to believe that or not.

If you expect perfection, then yes, Romo needs to play better, but I don’t expect perfection from anyone, just outstanding play which is what Romo has provided this year and his numbers are evidence of that.

you might not hate Romo as a person, but you definitely hate the player.

turning the ball over twice a game

just isn’t outstanding play terry.. I dont expect ferfection from Romo, I expect if a quarterback is going to be an top rated quarterback or an elite quarterback in this league, you have to learn from your mistakes, limit your mistakes and protect the football, Romo reverts back to rookie type mistakes with some of his decision making time and time again, and no, I’m not going to just say, you have to accept the good with the bad, I can accept that kind of play out of rookie Quarterbacks, I expect better out of a starter and leader and so should you and so so should Romo.

by Deke on Nov 19, 2008 7:54 PM CST up reply actions

I think Joyner's comments on Romo were very enlightening

in terms of his bad decision percentage being in the acceptable range for a gunslinging QB. Last season his bad decision percentage was very low for a gunslinging QB, but even this season it is in a decent range. If you want a QB who passes downfield and a team with a vertical attack, some mistakes come with that. Statistically, he’s doing just fine in that regard.

Romo hasn't averaged 2 TOs a gm Deke

thats simply not a true statement, and Romo does learn from his mistakes.

However, what you see as mistakes many times is just the result of him being a gunslinger and thats just the way he plays, that isn’t going to change.

If you expect him to be Manning and Brady, then you better start rooting for another team, because he’s always going to play with an aggressive style which as a fan you have to learn to accept.

You can be an elite qb in the league and be a gunslinger, Favre is proof of that.

you're the one who mentions Romo in the same sentence as Brady and manning time and time again

And if you’re going to just accept turning the ball over every game, then get used to NOT winning a championship…

I really woudn’t keep putting out Favre as an example, he has one superbowl in which he was something like 14 for 27

Favre turns the ball over but yet won a championship

by Terry on Nov 20, 2008 7:39 PM CST up reply actions

Peyton Manning averages over 1 turnover per game for his career

So yes, if you turn the ball over every game you can still win a championship.

Joe Montana 1.17 turnovers per game, 4 championships

Terry Bradshaw 1.86 turnovers per game, 4 championships

Troy Aikman 1.2 turnovers per game, 3 championships

Should I continue? Or do you think maybe the other 52 guys on the team helped to contribute to those championships?

dude, you got a 97% (31/32) chance of being right

I totally agree with Deke....this time...

This season is totally in the hands of our linemen….both Offense and Defense…..If they both can put it together for 60 minutes, one game at a time, we can not lose…period…I truely believe we’ll win the next 9 games on our way to our 6th SB championship……This team is built to be a running team…Our linemen are built to maul and over power players….If Garrett called 40+ running plays a game, I would be tickled pink…If you look at the best record/teams teams in the NFL this season..you’ll see the best running teams in the league…NYG, Tenn, Carolina, Pitts, Tampa ….all 7-3 or better, all primarily running teams……and to think we have a better RB tandem or trio than ALL of those teams….yet we don’t play run first…..Running the ball effectively brings that eigth man in the box…That’s when Romo is lethal, and can exploit any defense with out arsenal of receivers…I was/ am not a fan of passing the ball to open up the running game…When you have the ponies in the stable, you let them run……..If Romo just managed the games, and avoided turnovers, and hit the crucial third down pass plays, we could control the line, the clock, the game, and the outcome..it’s simple…Now if Jason Garrett would see to it to use the power blocking backfield that he used in Washinton from here on in, We’re golden…If he wan’t to play hero, and thinks we need to throw into double coverage, use 3 WR’s and put our O line on their heals pass protecting all day….It will be another year of wasted talent..

The game has long passed AL davis by

Commitment to incompetence. He runs the team as if he’s in the sixties and seventies. Hall and Walker, two examples, over pays for both, one is gone after eight games and is with Washington, Walker is done for the year, another injury in a hostory of injuries. Jemarcus Russell is down right horrible, poor drafts and poor decision making, year after year

The difference lately is that Jerry is listening to the scouting department and letting them put the board together

Quincey carter is the prime example among many where the draft board was put together, the scouts left for a break and jerry had changed the draft board, Quincey carter was placed in the second round. No one in the scouting department thought he was worthy of close to a second round pick. This happened numerous times and the scouts knew that it was useless at that point to try to change jerry’s mind

c’ mon man…give it up….If you want to live in the past and focus solely on draft years 1997 through 2002…..go ahead….find a rubber room and knock yourself out…….But over the past 5 years you simply have nothing to bitch about (except for the fact Jerry didn’t shore up a better back up QB) …other than that….He’s put together one of the best Cowboys teams in history….Live for today already……

He's listening to the scouts for NOW

because he’s got so much going on with the new stadium with the decor, finishes and trying to get events to fill that place and the sponsers and selling seat licences, tickets to pay for the place, and sticking his nose in the coaches meeting and bathering to the media, he has no time and no choice but to listen to the scouting department. He cant afford not to listen to them…. It’s when the new stadium is finished next year, then his ego will get in the way and he’ll be back in the draft room changing the draft board or signing more aging vets on the downside of their career, you know, like Flozell, Mr False start and T.O, I cant get of press coverage from a second rate corner..

first of all, who would you rather have as a GM? JJ at least knows he’s playing with his own money and not somebody elses. and unlike most other owner / GMs, he’ll spend what he thinks he needs to in order to get another lombardi. he cares more about that than we do.

second, why would you wish a penalty on the team that you root for?

third, (and I ask this with a sly grin) what first round pick?

does he need a compass or someone on the field to tell him to run north/south and not east/west on the field…. WOW, he can catch seven balls, how does that help us win, was there a rule change I didn’t hear about…

I Agree He Is A Good Player...

But our special teams sucks. Even if we had Hester back there, i doubt he would make any impact.

Now, on defense he played real well. Who knows how good he would be if he wasn’t suspended for those 4 games. But, right now I see him as the #5 corner -which isn’t bad if you ask me. Maybe next year, he can move up the roster with the possibility of moving Henry to FS.

Hmm, the way Henry has been playing, I would at least put Pacman at #4. Henry should go back to covering the TE’s in the nickel or dime (I can’t remember which one was the original plan earlier this season)

Catman jones is back with the team,

I do not think he will be a starter, but a situational cb to take away a TE, and play in ST. The team will not promote him to starter because they will be too weary of trusting him with a starter’s role. As far as whether or not I think he should be back, that is irrelevant; the team leaders came out and gave support that I consider sincere. Romo could have played it like WP and just been real short and just said well he is back on the team now and its good to have him. Romo’s quote shows that he feels that he is a good player and will not pose a distraction. Does that mean the team should just ignore what happened, no but I feel they will talk to him and make sure that they are on the same page with him. The team will not allow his off field antics to hurt what they are trying to do, but will welcome him if he is able to help them.
