Goodell lays down the law with Adam Jones
Adam "Pacman" Jones may finally be down to his last chance.
Sources told ESPN's Chris Mortensen on Sunday that the Cowboys defensive back must strictly adhere to the terms of his reinstatement and any missteps will lead to a lifetime ban from the NFL.
Commissioner Roger Goodell relied on the recommendations of clinical specialists who oversaw Jones' 30 days in a rehab facility when deciding to reinstate him from his latest suspension.
Jones was suspended for the entire 2007 season because of multiple incidents while with the Tennessee Titans, then was traded to the Cowboys during the offseason and given another chance by Goodell.

well, since its left in Pacrats hands with no bodyguards to keep him out of trouble
I give it about three weeks before Pacrat gets into some trouble and is bannished from the league for good….
LOL
this is fine as long as the cowboys are not on the hook for any $$ if he gets banned. Every game he can play for the boys is a bonus as it gives the young guys time to mature.
Unfortunately, they are on the hook
Jerry got fined $250k for this last incident. The next one could be a draft pick.
OK the number I gave was a little high, but here's the link
The team gets fined a portion of the players salary, for the # of games they are suspended.
That really puts on the pressure-
Chuck Norris does not hunt because the word hunting implies the probability of failure. Chuck Norris goes killing.
I have noticed a new resurgence in Cowboy hating in 2007, which can only mean one thing- We're back.
If this report is true, about missing just one meeting with counselors
I could see him messing up before the PIT game. Easily.
Goodell is setting him up to fail.

I'm all about giving the guy another chance, but...
Setting him up to fail? Exactly how many chances has the guy already had? If failure is the course he chooses, it will be his own fault, not Goodell’s – that is totally ridiculous.
I am hoping that the combination of positive influences within the locker room, guys like Deion and even Jerry, combined with whatever counseling they’ve arranged, will be enough for Pacman to develop some good habits.
Goodell didn’t need to give the guy all the second chances he ALREADY has offered… but at some point you need to draw a line in the sand, and it seems to me this is a reasonable place to make a stand.
Jones can figure it out. It’s not going to be easy, but it’s possible. I think he wants it enough, and perhaps it takes EXACTLY this kind of “last straw” draconian announcement to make the difference.
If you’re a Cowboy fan, how can you be rooting against him? He’s a tremendous asset on the field as well as in the locker room. Here’s hoping he turns his life around and doesn’t look back.
Duane Thomas, Calvin Hill, Tony Dorsett, Emmitt Smith ... and now BOTH Marion Barber and Felix Jones
Who would have thought 10 years ago
That Deion would be considered a positive influence. Proof positives that, as Emmitt said, “A leopard can change their stripes.”
As a Cowboy fan, I'm not rooting for him to fail
I just think given the extremely small margin of error Goodell has set, that chances are he won’t make it.
This is going by Mortenson’s report that it would only take Pacman missing one mandatory meeting to be banned for life. I just don’t think he can make it. Especially as it sounds like he’ll be receiving less oversight from Jerry.
You’re right, Goodell could have already banned him for life, but he didn’t. Goodell has always said he’s not about ending careers, he’s about saving them. I’m sorry, but I don’t think that missing a meeting is grounds for banishment. I think Goodell is giving him enough rope to hang himself.

Its pacmans rope
All he has to do is dedicate himself 100% to doing what he needs to do.
Other players make all meetings their ENTIRE career.
Other players never are suspended or fined their entire CAREER.
Sorry but its all on him as it should be.
If he fails its HIS FAULT and NO ONE ELSES.
Not saying he didn't do it to himself, and certainly not a Pacman apologist
But honestly, who thinks he’ll never miss one of these mandatory rehab/counseling meetings given his past behavior. I sure don’t. All these suspensions and conditions could have been trimmed down to a 3 strikes and you’re out rule. End of story. Instead of all this drama and worrying about this guy missing a meeting before a playoff game (if Dallas gets that far).

How do you know if players never miss meeting?
Plaxico had been fined over 60 times in the past few years, yet you never heard about it until a few weeks back when they suspended him for the bye week (wow they have balls, that will show him).
Fines for missed meetings and such are kept in house.
Good!
Now it’s only a matter of time before that sorry excuse for a NFL player is off our team, tick…tick…tick…
In Romo we Trust
wtf terry?
Yeah, that would suck to have someone young and athletic on our secondary. No problem, I’m sure the corpse formerly known as Anthony Henry will raise his game in the playoffs.
I sure hope Pac can finish out this season, after that its all gravy.
Pacrat can't be trusted
I can’t help it if you can’t see that, his track record speaks for itself.
In Romo we Trust
Right but
why root for him to fail? If he can give us some quality play at secondary, this team has that much better of a chance.
I'm not rooting for it
I’m just stating that it will happen and when it does, I’ll be happy because we won’t have that circus to deal with anymore.

I Thought The Last Time Was His Last Chance...
He must have done some serious Celebrity Rehab over the last 30 days, because I swore AJ was on a zero tolerance policy with Roger Goodell. AJ may make the Cowboys a better team, but I was fine with the thought that he was going to be gone after this latest embarassing incident.

I wouldn't want him back except...
I’m a little frightened with both Jenkins and Newman nursing injuries. I’ll deal with the circus a little longer until, most likely, he messes up again. If he proves me wrong, then great, but honestly, I just don’t think the guy has it between the ears…(he can’t play zone even though he’s one of the most athletic guys on the team, oh yeah, and he repeatedly keeps getting suspended for drunken idiocy).
