10 and 6 will not get it done and Dallas needs a good amount of help at 11-5.

Arizona and NYG and one of the NFC North teams take up 3 playoff spots.

The three remaining spots are being competed for by Atlana, Carolina, Tampa Bay, Washington and Dallas. If Dallas goes 11-5, they still need two of the four teams they are chasing to lose two of thier last five games.

by Trey, on Nov 23, 2008 9:04 PM CST up reply actions   0 recs

Carolina, Tampa, and Atlanta play each other since they’re in the same division. We also have the tie breaker with Tampa since we beat them heads up. When all is said and done, 10-6 will get in. Only 2 10-6 teams have failed to qualify in recent NFL history.

Signature! I don't need no stinking signature!!

i can easily see 3 non-division winners going 10-6

10-6 doesn’t guarantee anything, but it would be a decent bet

I think that Carolina is about to go on a freefall

And we can stop worrying about Tampa. They’re going to win their division.

The ones we need to worry about are Atlanta, Carolina, Washington, Chicago, Minnesota, and Green Bay.

One of the last 3 will get in for division winner. I think we will still be above the other 2 (and have tiebreaker with GB).

I honestly think it will boil down to Dallas, Washington, and Atlanta for the last spot.

Let's go Colts!

I hate the Chargers, and love seeing them fail miserably.

by mhuff13 on Nov 23, 2008 7:23 PM CST reply actions   0 recs

I've hated the Chargers

Ever since on my former Cowboys website, I had (for 2 years) to defend Ware against what I called the Merrymen.

People there thought Merriman walked on water.

by mhuff13 on Nov 23, 2008 7:29 PM CST up reply actions   0 recs

just remember, some cowboy fans think Romo can walk on water...

I just thank Matt Millen after every game that he took Mike Williams with the tenth pick in the draft instead of ware….

by Deke on Nov 23, 2008 7:34 PM CST up reply actions   0 recs

Yea what a complete tool..

And it’s different when you’re a homer. These people were saying Merriman was 100x better than Ware (which is crap) and it was a blown pick.

by mhuff13 on Nov 23, 2008 7:38 PM CST up reply actions   0 recs

I just never thought it was fair to compare the two

both are very good players, I think Merriman is twenty five pounds heavier, more of a defensive end where Ware is a Defensive end/linbacker hybrid speed player. I wouldn’t mind having either one on my team if healthy

by Deke on Nov 23, 2008 7:47 PM CST up reply actions   0 recs

You can have Steriodsman

Merriman is phenomenal as a pass rushing specialists. He’s a 1 trick pony though.

LT

Since I’m from Fort Worth, I have to cheer for the Chargers as long as Tomlinson plays for them. It’s required by local law actually. :)

Wade Theory

Ok, I don’t normaly pay attention to the Wade bashing, but this quote by him got me thinking:
“At the end of each game, that will be what we’re about. Every one of these wins are championship-like games.”
Well, if you put in a prevent D (D for Defense) for “chamionship-like” games, then that may be indicative of how/why we put in the Prevent D(D for Dallas) last December…

His tendency is obviously to go easy when you have the victory…and i think it may not be the way to “rest” guys, but it may be the way to lose the opportunity to initmidate and dominate…

I know its all “honorable” to take a knee in the redzone, but when the Patriots knifed us last year in the waning seconds, I couldn’t help but think – they are a bad-ass team, and they should go until someone stops them…Wade isn/t like that….

I kind of wish he was….

by Cal in DC on Nov 23, 2008 8:20 PM CST reply actions   0 recs

Its not about ego's...

It’s about W’s. I wish Wade was more aggressive with the D with the players he has but there’s no need to be arrogant and classles like the patsies. I was so glad they lost the SB last year….even if it had to be to the Giants, but I hate the patsies arrogance much more than the giants.

by ManTab on Nov 23, 2008 8:25 PM CST up reply actions   0 recs

I agree

I like being classy and kneeling regardless of field position, but the prevent D is just bad strategy unless you’re up by 35

I have a feeling @home we might actually win against the giants. (RW2 becomes more comfortable with romo)
So with SEA, Philly wins..we need only one against Ravens(most likely at home) or PIT we can have a 11 win season. not bad.

by AJA on Nov 23, 2008 9:00 PM CST reply actions   0 recs

and if philly is going with kolb

that should be as close to a gimme as SF

The Giants game is close to a must win.

Confrence record is the second tie breaker. Dallas can make the playoffs with one loss as long as its out of confrence. Dallas needs to win verse Seattle, Phily and NYG if they want to control their own destiny.

by Trey, on Nov 23, 2008 9:09 PM CST up reply actions   0 recs

but if we lost to the Giants

but won all the rest, we’d be 11-5 and probably in too

+1

11-5 gets you in the tournament

It's the second tie breaker against non division opponents

It’s 4th against division opponents (Washington).

by ym on Nov 23, 2008 9:34 PM CST reply actions   0 recs

Play better special teams

that’s really all it comes down to, we have to play better than we have or he’s gonna hurt us.

Is anyone else

Becoming less and less impressed by the skins. They peaked when they beat NO, ARI, DAL, and PHIL, but they haven’t looked like the same team after that. I think their line is breaking down which is seriously affecting Campbell’s play.

by witten82 on Nov 23, 2008 10:13 PM CST reply actions   0 recs

they stilll have a semi easier schedule so that will inflate their record

plus they host the NFC east teams (NYG,PHL) at home and winnable games against Cinn and SF

by Deke on Nov 23, 2008 10:23 PM CST up reply actions   0 recs

Yeah they have the potential to have a good record because of their schedule

I just meant the team doesn’t look the same as they did that 4 week stretch. They look a lot sloppier and more predictable.

denver laid an egg, but so did the rest of the division….. they’re still in the driver’s seat….

philly just seems lost……dude, where’s my football team should be their motto…

Niners Fan Friend at Work...

…wants to blame a TD called back in the first quarter as one of the main reasons his team lost.

Claims that the two 4th qtr touchdowns showed the fight in his team. Excuse me, but if Wade keeps the foot on the defensive gas pedal, the stupid-a** niners don’t even sniff the end zone at all. I’m too merciful on outspoken opposing fans. Most definitely a weakness I have, for sure.

If only this guy would take the SF blinders off to notice the game was more than that.

I astutely mentioned the officials took a TD away from our Cowboys with that stupid whistle, which made the Zach Thomas fumble return for a touchdown unreviewable.

Yeah, this is the idiot who goes around telling everyone that San Fran is better all time than Dallas and Pittsburgh because the 49ers won five super bowls first — before both the Cowboys and the Steelers.

I know what you mean

Some close friends are Niners fans and they hate the Cowboys with an unparalleled passion.

I went to the Niners blog for fun, after the game, just to read their game day threads. All I can say is they have some gutter mouths (even their chief blogger, Fooch had to post an extensive reminder about not typing profanity), every penalty against their team was BS, and they think the Boys get special treatment by officials. Pretty funny stuff.
