Hey JJT, Want Some Salt For That Crow?

TO is on the back quarter of his career - he's 35 after all - and isn't the franchise receiver he was a few years ago, but JJT's borderline ridiculous article on TO that came out Sunday morning - just a few hours before TO lit up the 49ers for over 200 yards receiving. And how does he follow that up? Not with a humble "I underestimated a great player" or "one last shining day on a very bright career", but instead he mocked Owens' tongue-in-cheek "they unleashed me" comment and ripped Singletary a new one for not jamming Owens at the line of scrimmage. That is the mark of a sore loser, especially one who bet against his own home team.

Singletary's decision to back the corners off Cowboys receivers was curious to say the least, but I attribute that in part to the integration of RW11 in the offense. He hasn't put up any gawdy numbers yet, but is there a defensive coordinator that didn't cringe when he heard of that trade?

JJT, you had a chance to make a laugher out of this situation at your expense, and don't forget you're nothing more than a local sports writer occasionally put on ESPN when Stephen A Smith runs out of Ricolah. But instead you took the sour grapes approach to your dismissive article, and I hope that crow tastes horrible.

JJT is absolutely right on with his article

Some of you continue to buy into the T.O blatherings that its everybody else’s fault, but its not. He’s 35 and not the same player he once was and why San Fran would play off which is to his strength’s because he cant get off of press coverage, is beyond me. I doubt T.O has a game for the rest of the year where he comes close to gaining 100 yards…

Players don't drop off that much in just 1 season.

Now you tell me what the 1 difference (other than injuries) is between this year’s offense and last year’s offense….

by mhuff13 on Nov 24, 2008 3:56 PM CST up reply actions   0 recs

other Teams have 17 games on tape from last year to breakdown and see what Garrett is trying to do on offense

Defenses are picking up on the formations and adjusting to what Garrett likes to do out of those formations.

T.O has been silent most of the season because defenses are playing press coverage with a safety over the top, yesterday, San Fran for some dumb reason was playing off, except for 16 plays against T.O where they were in press coverage. For a big receiver, T.O just cant get off press coverage and is stuck at the line of scrimmage. He needs space to get up to speed, and defenses for the most part are not allowing him free release at the line. Garrett needs to bring T.O in motion alot more to try to get him a free release.

Huh ??...I guess covering him with an All Pro CB like Nate Clements wasn't a good enough game plan ??

But we praise Terrence Newman for a spectacular job covering Santana Moss ?…..Face it….You can’t single cover TO, not even with a perrenial pro bowl CB…….press coverage and a safety over the top…yep….I sure hope teams continue to do that against TO……..That’s how important TO is to our Offense…….I’ll take 5 receptions, 60 yards, stellar downfield blocking, and the ability to make all the players around him better by freeing THEM up………I want more TO….move motion, more slants, more drags, more end arounds….cuz if him gaining 100 yards is your measuring stick…..I want to make sure all you pessimistic JJT-esque fair weather fan wanna be’s have nothing but great things to say about our BEST Offensive weapon……..I’m willing to bet anyone TO gets 100 yards receiving again this season….

A true diehard Cowboys fan since 1975.

"If you don’t take him off the field as a coach, he will just about die out there," Jerry Jones said. "That impacted my decision. It’s a Michael Irvin-type work ethic. That’s what we are talking about with Felix Jones."

They were playing 8 yards off of him, giving him the free release he needs

Its not everyone else, it’s T.O that continues to blame everyone else for him not being a bigger part in the offense. The fact is Dallas spends too much time trying to get him the ball, They force it too him too many times. Its T.O that’s the one that continues to tell everyone that he’s not getting the ball enough, He’s has just not been getting open, when the fact is he’s near the top of the league for balls thrown his way. T.O is the one that say the Game plan is wrong, its not anyone else. T.O is the one that needs to look into the mirror. The passing Offense is fine, T.O is the one that has to start getting off press coverage. T.O is the one that needs to accept games where he only gets 4 catches for forty yards, T.O, not anyone else.

Deke,

If you think stats alone determine a players effectiveness, you need to learn something about the game of football. You may be right that T.O may not have another herculean effort this year, but you’re forgetting something…EVERY TEAM JUST GOT SERVED NOTICED THAT YOU CANNOT PLAY MAN COVERAGE AGAINST T.O. WITHOUT JAMMING AND HELP OVER THE TOP! This opens things up for our other players in the passing game, gives runningbacks a chance to get to the second and third level more easily, and keeps teams from being able to bring as much pressure.

I’ve been trying to figure you out for a while now, are you a freaking angry eagles fan that just likes to hang out on our blog, or what? I haven’t heard you say one positive thing since I’ve seen you on here.

I have noticed a new resurgence in Cowboy hating in 2007, which can only mean one thing- We're back.

I could care less about T.O's stats or what he has to say

He just needs to do his job. I’d wish he’d just shut the hell up and stop blaming everyone else for not getting his stats, because for him, It’s always about stats with him, his stat’s. Try getting open for a change T.O. If he gets double teamed, then that opens up other area’s of the offense, why cant he just accept that and shut up instead of running to the other loud mouth Deion Sanders… Ill take T.O with 4 catches and 50 yards in a balanced attack instead of a lose and T.O having 120 yards anyday…It’s all about his stata with him…..

There was press coverage on T..O about 16 times in that game, the rest of the time , San Fran was playing well off, what were you watching, punch T.O in the mouth at the line in press coverage, and he stops moving his feet and gets frustrated.

The Offensive line isn’t doing their job in the running game, it’s not T.O

Well I’ve been a cowboy fan since 1963 and I’ve been on this blog since it started, where have you been??? I’m not a koolaid drinking homer, maybe you are, as are many on here are. Someone needs to give some of you a dose of reality.. Try looking at the team a whole, and dont get caught up with the end stats, because they dont tell the whole story about this team…

by Deke on Nov 24, 2008 8:29 PM CST up reply actions   0 recs

fair enough...

I agree with what you said about his mouth, that’s for sure, though I still think he makes teams actually change what they WANT to do to account for him, and that does create openings.

Yes, I agree that the line needs to be more consistent and grittier. Losing Kosier again does not help that.

You’ve got me beat, I’ve only been a Cowboys fan since ‘81. When I was four. And I’m not trying to talk smack, but seriously, maybe I am drinking Kool aid, but my glass is half full. Sure there are things wrong, and lots of things that bother me about our heart and intensity. But I prefer to hope and trust in my team that they can and will correct things. In the end, if you are right and we are just a paper tiger, does that make you feel good??? I’d rather hope for more.

Just my $.02

I just expect alot better effort and play from this team

You see glimses from this team, the potential , they play a good quarter, but from what i’ve seen from this team from last December, that potential good play is few and far between, this team isn’t any better from last year, and in some ways, worse than last year

I just dont think they make the playoffs this year from what i’ve watched, I did when training camp started. but if they are lucky to make the playoffs, I dont think they go far. There is just something systematically wrong with this team…

I got news for your Deke

if the Cowboys make the playoffs, it won’t be because of luck, it will be because they will be playing great football and a very dangerous team nobody will want to play in the playoffs, including the GMen.

The Giants were the dangerous team last year heading into the playoffs

I said as much before the playoffs and I heard that, I got news for you before. All I’m saying is, From what i’ve seen from this cowboy team since last December, they aren’t scaring anyone….especially the giants… can things change, sure, I hope I’m wrong, I’ll be hoping I’m wrong but it’s not about me being right or wrong. For me, the Giants are thee best all around football team in the league, where Dallas has many problems, you just cant flick a switch and everything is fine…

by Deke on Nov 24, 2008 9:37 PM CST up reply actions   0 recs

you definitely can flick a switch

regarding attitude, focus and desire, most definitely. It’s not as though we don’t have the talent because we do, so it’s just a matter of wanting to play focused disciplined football.

The GMen flipped that switch last season so there is no reason why the Cowboys can’t do it this year.

"Ill take T.O with 4 catches and 50 yards in a balanced attack instead of a lose and T.O having 120 yards anyday…"

But how many times have we lost when T.O. has a huge day??? Yes he needs to shut his mouth, but we all know he never will, so why STILL complain about it? He’s right to say that he needs the ball. We’ve been arguing since he came to Dallas that we’d rather have a receiver that wants the ball then not. Obviously holding an interview with Deion isn’t the best way to go about it. But to say he is a distraction is flat-out retarded…

+1

when Romo is hitting T.O. and he has a big day, we usually do win.

you're not a realist, you're a pessimist, just admit it

realists don’t say 2 weeks ago that we’re finished, they say we have to play better to make the playoffs, however, pessys, like you, are always the first to say we’re done.

Thats negativity my friend, not reality.

As nate said today

JJT is covering himself, because he knows he stepped in it after owens performance and will not even mention the earlier article; its just best for him to change the subject.

Ignore the Mainstream Media, EMBRACE THE HATE!!!!

Owens Better Be Thankful...

Because I don’t see him getter another 100-yd performance for the remaining of the season. All 4 teams we face in December have nasty defenses and hardly give up 100-yd perfomances to recievers.

I could see him putting 100 yds and a TD on SEA

But the last 4 games are against some tough defenses.

I have always hated JJT.

and that stupid little peach fuzz on his lip.

He’s a hater and he is wrong about T.O.

Teams can no longer just take T.O. away. You can shade the safety to his side, but you’re just gonna get your #2 corner smoked on the other side. Or Witten can expose the seam.

Too many weapons dude. As long as Holland can step in and play adequately. This offense will not sputter anymore.
