Bill Bates
If you are a long time Cowboys fan you will know who he is.
Well I had the chance to meet Bill Bates on Monday. It was a great experience. He is a very nice, humble guy. Not like I remeber him jumping up and down yelling and screaming! So after I told him how big of a Cowboys fan I am he took off his Super Bowl Ring from SB XXX and handed it to me. All I could say was WOW! To actually hold that SB ring in my hand. It was great.
Well I just thought I should let my fellow fans know about this great experience.

That is awesome! I met him when i was a kid at a car show one time (him and Ed Too Tall). I am 23 now and was probably 12 at the time… maybe younger.

Witten is the current day Bates
Of all the players on the current Cowboys roster I think Witten best exemplifies Bates’ toughness, leadership and commitment to the team. You might argue for a Zach Thomas being that he seems to be lacking some of the ideal physical attributes yet overcomes. I loved watching #40 roam for most of my younger years.

He's Coaching his Son
He is helping coach his son’s football team.
I know he coached 1 season here for the Jags but I would love his passion back with our Boys. We need passion on this team.
I agree Witten is old school like Bates. Bates was one of my favorite players for the Boys, so to meet him was great. We are doing some work with one of his businesses so I will get to see him again next week and who knows how often after that. I hope to get a chance to ask him the questions I always wanted to know.
I will relay my story of the 92 Super Bowl. I am in the Army so, I was in the Jungles of Panama on a training mission for Super Bowl Sunday. I bought a small (1 1/2 inch) hand held TB just to watch the game. It was pouring rain and I was sitting under a poncho watching the game on this small TV, and yes the game was in Spanish! Who cared our Boys won their 3 rd Super Bowl and first of the 90’s dynasty.

At one time
I had a picture (newspaper clipping) of Bates standing over Steve Young,
Young had just been sacked and was in the fetal position.
I wish I still had that picture.
