Happy Thanksgiving open thread

Happy_Thanksgiving

Time to consume the turkey then watch a little pigskin. The gameplan for me is to do the feasting during the Titans/Lions game. Munch on some turkey and gravy, mashed taters, a little corn, a bunch of stuffing, some more gravy and top it off with a little pie. Then kick back and watch the Cowboys stomp all over the Seahawks.

I'll be back later today from the festivities to put up open threads for the game. In the meantime, use this as an open thread for Thanksgiving and for the early game.

Happy Thanksgiving!

I hate being in awkward social situations while the Cowboy game is on!!! I want to watch it in peace and solitude!

by Barrett14 on Nov 27, 2008 8:27 AM CST reply actions   0 recs

the family's out of town

but i had to work, so i stayed. several families offered to share the Turkey-day feast with me, but i’d rather be anti-socially watching the game from my recliner than sitting in their house, in their chair, asking them to be quiet! lol

so thanksgiving is at my house, with just me, a 20 oz steak, a couple sides, my recliner, and mucho football.

I commented. You're welcome.

That actually sounds real tranquil.

Especially in contrast to the house full of loonies I’m going to be bombarded by.

Wow... I'm not alone!!

We should start a support group…lol

A few years ago when we were playing Washington on thanksgiving I was in Maryland at the time surrounded by skins fans….. That was actually a good day… but all thru the 1st half I was longing for some piece and quiet. So Happy thanksgiving everyone and

Go Cowboys!!!

A couple of years ago I had Turkey Day at an ex-girlfriend's parents house

Being born and raised in Texas its tradition for the dinner to take place so as not to interfere with the football game; then all the guys gather round the T.V. and scream at the ’Boys.

But, NO…….Dinner was scheduled to start around 3pm (the Cowboys played at 4), but some family member were late arriving and we didn’t sit down until 3:55. And of course, this was all formal and fancy and everyone had to sit at the table in the dining room. So I quickly scarf down my turkey (which was horrible) and start running back and forth between the dining room and the T.V. This was the game Romo threw 5 TDs…..suffice it to say my girlfriend was PISSED at me for ignoring her stuck up family and watching the Cowboys win.

We weren’t together much longer after that.

My wife gets it too

But my mom doesn’t. She schedules dinner during the Cowboy game every damn year. Finally, after thirty-some years, she isn’t surprised when I run off to the TV to eat and watch the game.

Happy thanksgiving...

I’m currently taking part in my annual morning tradition of watching cowboys highlights via youtube, both past and present.

Have a happy one, BTBrs, new and old.

Hopefully the Cowboys and referees have a great game. I’d prefer to not have to shout instructions to them for three hours. It’s wearing on me and somewhat disconcerting for the assembled family.

This is totally and completely uncalled for but hey...

Grizz started it! Plus we’re playing the Hawks where it all happened. Happy Thanksgiving and may we stomp the Seachickens like we should have done in ’06

I prefer the She-Hawks

Gonna be watching the game with my family, all of whom are Cowboys fans, except the ones from Arkansas… and they don’t really care b/c the Raza-backs aren’t playing until tomorrow.

Though I have to admit that internet-anything is far, far down on my list of things to be thankful for, this site is now my homepage and I am filled with gratitude toward all the writers. I used to waste time at other Cowboys sites, but not any more.

Dallas Cowboys Thanksgiving Day Game

This must be the reason I became a fan of football, as I grew up in New England, with no cable, hardly any nationally televised games, and a Dad who really didn’t follow sports much. ….Of course the big three networks back then CBS-NY Giants, NBC- NY Jets & New England Patriots, ABC- Monday Night Football….The exposure of seeing Dallas play every Thanksgiving is what truely must of been what drove me to following the Cowboys in the mid 70’s…Sure, I recall seeing the NYG vs Cowboy games, but that was only twice a year, sprinkle in a few match ups against the Jets and Pats, but it was always Thanksgiving Day when I knew “America’s Team” would be playing, and I’d sit around the 19" Black & White TV with my Dad, Uncles, Brother & Cousins cheering the Boys in Blue….Roger Staubach, Ed Jones, Randy White, Drew Pearson, Tony Dorsett, Robert Newhouse, Preston Pearson, Butch Johnson…etc .etc. etc…The list goes on….damn, they were so fun to watch…….They had occasional non local market teams matched up on Sunday’s, and usually the Cowboys were one of them, (as they were the biggest draw back then as well), but it was always on the grandest of stages the Cowboys brought excitment into the homes of millions each year……and the Boys were always on Thanksgiving Day…….This must be how I became a fan of the Dallas Cowboys, (and of course my Mom getting me Cowboys pajama’s with the little booties and all for Christmas in 1975…

I hope everyone has a wonderful day…GO COWBOYS !!!!

A true diehard Cowboys fan since 1975.

35 points and not even halftime....the Lions are a piss poor....

They really need to take them off Thanksgiving. What a crappy first game to watch on Turkey day. I bet the owner bought the remaining tickets so it wasn’t a blackout. Or maybe, they gave away free rolex’s at the door to get fans to come out…lol.

Look up... get up...Don't ever, ever give up!!

I won’t get to blog during the game either, but I’ll check in tonight.

I hope they crush the Seahags and Romo goes for 300+ and 4 TD’s.

I just brought pumpkin pie to my collegues today, but will also throw a whole Thanksgiving dinner on sunday.
Today i will be thankful for getting to watch the game on TV and not on a tiny computer screen, with bad stream.
Enjoy your day
