Patrick Crayton sums it up:
"It's kind of sickening we can't move the ball," wide receiver Patrick Crayton said. "I don't know what's going on."
"Right now, we stink across the board."

No, you're right he can't
My only thread of a hope is that the O-line has been nicked up and no one is saying so, and that the bye week is going to help that. If those guys dfon’t protect Romo as well as the Giants protect Eli or the Skins do for Campbell, this season is lost. Period.

there is no question Flozell is hurt
anyone can see that, he can’t lift his arm to block, thats why he’s getting beat. Also Kosier being out is messing up the chemistry of the line as well. Despite the OL playing poor, they weren’t that bad yesterday, BJ was just simply awful and by far and away the biggest reason we lost.
If Romo had played yesterday, the game would have been at least competitive, it definitely wouldn’t have been a blowout.

If Romo was in this would've been a win
and the defense would’ve looked dominating.
Flozell can’t lift his left arm and you can see him trying to use his shoulder. Hopefully the bye week will help him because I don’t know of any alternative. Free? Bigg? McQ? Sounds like a bunch of guards to me. Man, we need a good swing tackle.

no question the bye week will help out tremendously and I really think the team will become re-energized after a week off from football.

I think with the opprotunity to get guys healthy as well as getting some rest and re-focusing will help this team tremendously. This team is too talented to keep playing this terribly.

One player is not going to make a difference
If anyone thinks that they have no clue what’s going on with this football team. We gave up over 200 yards rushing. Unless Romo can play defense he is not going to make them better. I can go on and on, but this team is a mess from top to bottom. Romo, Felix Jones, whoever won’t make a difference. We are mess like Crayton said and if you are throwing all your eggs in a basket for one player your in fantasy land my friends. In a few weeks everyone will be talking about the draft and not us in the playoffs.

no they won't because we traded away our first rd pick
and yes one player can make a huge difference. If you don’t think Romo would have made that game competitive, then you don’t have a clue because he would have produced points, which is exactly what this team has been lacking for the past 3 games.
I’m certainly not saying the team was playing great before Romo got hurt, but they had a chance to win every single game and thats all you can ask for. I’m not guaranteeing playoffs, but I will guarantee this team will be at least be competitive again each game once Romo is behind center again, you can count on it.

He's athletic, but more importantly
he’s a football player. He’s tough, he’s got that Dwight Freeney spin move down, and he’s got a good burst around the tackle.
When D.Ware was hurt, I was scared because behind him is just Justin Rogers. The future of OLB is Ware and Spencer. Spencer looked great yesterday, but has trouble staying healthy. We need 4 good OLBs on this team because Ellis may be a situational player and any of these guys can be used at End.
No more pretty boys. Nate is right.
We need dogs on both sides of the ball!

that not true, we’ll have no backups at OLB at all.

No, I'm saying keep Ellis.
But we need more pressure players than just Ware. Spencer is awesome, but not always available. There are no pressure players behind Ware if he got hurt or if they wanted to give him a much needed breather.

I was responding to Boyz
he’s the one that wants to get rid of Ellis, which would be a big mistake given the lack of depth at OLB.

You look like the one with no clue
Did you watch the game? Did you see a completely ineffective offense go three and out over and over or throw interceptions? Did you see the defense on the field over 20 minutes in the first half and get completely worn out? You seem like you don’t understand this game at all. If Romo plays, the offense uses up more clock and scores some points. The defense is fresher and plays with more urgency, knowing that there is actually a chance to win. One guy can’t make the difference but he can energize the team and give everyone a reason to pull together.
I swear, with some of the “fans” on this blog, who needs enemies?

well said Billito
you can’t win in the NFL or even be competitive without at least competent qb play no matter how good the rest of the team is.
The Cowboys have had bad high school qb play the last two games at the position, thats going to make the rest of the team look really bad. There isn’t a team in this league thats going to be even remotely competitive with absolutely horrid play at qb, just simply can’t be done.

ugghh..forget it Terry
like Deke said Romo is God to you. I like Romo as much as anyone, but he was struggling with alot of things, one being careful with the ball all season. He wasn’t playing as good as his QB rating says he was.
Look up... get up...Don't ever, ever give up!!
by Boyzfan94 on Nov 3, 2008 9:57 AM CST up reply actions 0 recs
he still is a million times better than Johnson
and can produce points which is what this team desperately needs. To say he was struggling is absurd, he was playing outstanding.

Did you see the lack of protection?
Have you been following the team all season or just three weeks? Protection problems have been occurring all season so what does that have to do with the defense? The defense was on the field alot yesterday I agree, but they weren’t stopping the run or pass in the first and second quarter so right there your theory is shot. They can’t run block, pass protect and that has absoultely nothing to do with the defense being on the field. People must have amesia because this just didn’t start yesterday. This has been going on for weeks and weeks….stop making excuses people because this goes much deeper than Romo not being here. The signs were already there.

but when you have two clueless qbs under center, of course the OL is going to look awful.

thats not true at all
you must have had too much to drink in the stands because i saw a lot of plays where both qbs had plenty of time to make plays.
Sure, they were sacked some, but not enough to blame the OL for the qbs awful play.

offense is the best defense
Unless Romo can play defense he is not going to make them better.
having an offense that can stay on the field can do wonders for a defense that gets a few moments to rest between drives…
the offense had 8 consecutive drives with no more than 4 plays, and an average of 3 plays per drive. that will just wear any defense down.
by scottmaui on Nov 3, 2008 10:10 AM CST up reply actions 0 recs
So what about the first drive
When the Giants sliced us up on the first drive for 7 points. No excuse there. It would’ve have mattered if Romo was playing. They can’t protect the QB, they can’t run block. We were struggling when Romo was playing and it is a disaster without him.

They were getting blown up at the line of scrimmiage in the first half, when fresh, not in the 3rd and 4th quarter. They couldn’t stop the run or protect the QB in the first half..excuses…excuses…

Totally agree.
It should be the opposite if you want to win games, let alone against the GMen. Defense would be killing Eli if they weren’t on the field for a thousand years.

So what about the first drive?
after they gave up a TD on the first drive, on the next 5 drives the D stopped them 4 times and held them to 62 yards, and the one time they didn’t stop was when NY got the ball on the 27 and scored, that’s tough. The D had the team in the game down by only 1 score late in the second quarter, despite the offense’s complete ineptness.
Don’t get me wrong, there’s a lot to criticize with the D, and I don’t think having Romo back miraculously fixes everything, it’s just that personally it is a little easier for me to give the D a little slack knowing that they did keep us in the game early despite getting no help whatsoever from the offense until the one garbage time drive.
by scottmaui on Nov 3, 2008 12:41 PM CST up reply actions 0 recs
And
the D even scored for the 1st time in forever. Tell me y’all didn’t get up and cheer that one.
Hey, they put that worried look on Eli’s face, even in his post game interview. Wade and Stew made the necessary adjustments after that 1st drive.
The turnovers showed their wear on the D late in the game after Bollinger’s TD. It was then that their tank was empty.
Oh, and I said “Tank” was empty for a reason. That guy won’t be winning any 6th man award this year.

It's clear that the offense's struggles wore down the defense
It’s not rocket science. If you’re on the field that long, you will wear down. 3 and outs and turnovers killed the team.

Romo can play defense.
He gets 1st downs, which helps the D out tremendously.
This defense is good, not great, but good. You just can’t see that because you’re stuck on statistics. Do you think 200 yards and 35 points would’ve occurred had the offense not turned the ball over and over and over?
Football is like a chess match, and when you are constantly on defense, something’s gonna give. Especially when you are always defending your own red zone because of offensive inabilities.

I know
but for being blown out, there was a glimmer of hope there that suggested with some ball control on offense that this could’ve been a more competitive game—even a win.
Keeping their D on the field would’ve slowed down their pass rush. I just think that JG is calling plays still for Romo and not properly adjusting to Brad or whomever.

They were harrassed all game Terry....Here's Nick to strenghten my point..
Open your eyes people….
Cowboys Have More Than Just QB Issues
And as debatable as this might sound, I’m not too sure a healthy Tony Romo would’ve mattered a whole lot as well. Now that’s not to say Romo isn’t a difference maker and the Cowboys aren’t counting the days until he returns from that pinkie injury. But in this game, on this day, it probably wouldn’t have affected the final outcome.
Your point is shot right here Terry…..
Say what you about Tony Romo being able to escape the pass rush, he wouldn’t have fared much better against the Giants. Too many times it seemed like the defensive ends were just having their own party, meeting at the quarterback’s feet. When you try a three-step drop and you end up on your back, that’s bad. It doesn’t matter if you’ve got Brad Johnson, Tony Romo or Vince Young back there, he’s not getting away from that
