Time To Let Johnson Go
The Cowboys should give Brad Johnson his walking papers. It is clear that he can't play at this level any more. Instead, sign some young QB off of another teams practice squad (like Andre Woodson from the Giants) to be the 3rd stringer. At least you can work on them developmentally for the future. BB isn't much of an upgrade, but he is younger and quicker. Any way, without Romo, this team isn't going to accomplish much this year (but will end up with a higher draft pick - though we traded our first - and easier schedule for next year)

Quincy Carter may be available for a 3rd stringer
I’m not joking either.

Not a Chance
Jerry is already paying fines for Pacman. I don’t think he is going to take a chance of relapse on a 3rd string QB. Besides, you want someone young who may develop into something. Not someone who is just trying to hang on.

I saw an interview with Quincy when he was playing AF2
and the reporter asked him if he can truthfully saying he’s done smoking marijuana.
After a pissy moment of hesitation, he said “I think so.”
She repeated the question with a “you think so?”.
He hesitated again, and gave the same answer.

He should have been cut this morning
No reason to keep him around – get someone else on the roster who can contribute.
That's the only reason
He’s a good holder, and Folk is a weapon. But I damn sure never want to see the guy under center ever again.
T-New, shutting down WR's for Dallas since 2003
i dont think so...
I could be wrong, but since he was “demoted” from 2nd qb to 3rd, I think the rule applies that if you have the 3rd qb come out and play, you cant use the 1st string qb… or something along those lines… plus, then you would need 3 qbs active for every game
thats correct
3rd string qb can only be used in emergency situations like when your first 2 qbs go down.
Someone else will be Nick’s new holder
In Romo we Trust
Only if the 3rd stringer is an inactive emergency player
If he is an active 45er, then he can hold.

I'm pretty sure he can be an active 45er
unless the team declares him as the emergency 3rd, which would be like the 46th man.

Why in God's name would you want 3 active qb's?
Especially when you can keep one inactive and still play him if you NEEDED your 3rd QB.

Because if you use the emergency 3rd
it inactivates your 1st two QBs.

Here we go.
The rule, from the NFL:
“Teams will be permitted an Active List of 45 players and an Inactive List of eight players for each regular-season and postseason game. Provided that a club has two quarterbacks on its 45-player Active List, a third quarterback from its Inactive List is permitted to dress for the game, but if he enters the game during the first three quarters, the other two quarterbacks are thereafter prohibited from playing.”

It seems that teams do make at least one key roster move during bye weeks.
I saw the pack released KGB.

Signature? SIGNATURE?! Don't talk about SIGNATURE! I just hope I can write a sentence!
KEEP HIM!!!
He shouldn’t have to line up under center again, but that experience is always helpful to young QB’s. I never minded having Bledsoe, Testaverde (yeah I said it), or BJ talk to Romo and now, Brooks. 2 of those 3 are Super Bowl QB’s and that knowledge can always help. They may just see something that nobody else did. Plus he can’t be taking up THAT much of our $$$

what he takes up in salary cap
will be there whether on the roster or released. vets with contracts on the active roster week 1 are guaranteed the contract for the year.

I see no reason to keep him.
I’m not a big fan of carrying 3 QB’s on the active roster period, but if you are, your #3 should be a young developmental guy. Not an 83 yr old waste of space.
Should have never released matt moore

Holding for kicks is important and helps the team win
Not to hate on Romo but consider the Seahawks game of two season’s ago. A botched hold can cost 3 points or even 1 on a PAT and that can cost you the game. Its an important role and worth moving Bollinger to the #3 inactive spot so that BJ can hold. If Romo gets hurt then you can play Bollinger and adapt to a different holder for that game. Let’s not let emotional disdain for BJ get in the way of logical team management.
