Demise of our 1998 draft class
Last year Ellis and F. Adams were studs. Ellis was getting a sack a game, and was frequently a step away from more. Adams regularly took on Pro-Bowl DEs and turned them into average players, which almost made his false starts acceptable. They were both pro-bowlers.
This year Ellis is completely absent -- I haven't seen him in so long that I've forgotten his number He has 3 sacks, is never near the QB, and has less than half the tackles as Ware. If we can't generate pressure with 4, the Phillips 34 isn't effective.
On the flip side, Adams has become a doorman, happy to let the DE fly in several times a game. He's missing his neighbor Kosier, but there are plenty of rushes seem like he had zero expectation of either geting help from Procter needing to help Procter out.
Football teams live and die with the lines. Teams that can generate a rush, prevent pressure and open rushing holes are good. Teams that can do one or two of those are average. Right now, we can't generate a rush, can't stop the rush, and can only sporadicly open holes. We are a bottom 10 team. If we are going to be a playoff team this year, Ellis and Adams need to play like years past.

Gregg Ellis
Will always be remembered by me as the guy we took instead of Randy Moss, at a time when the Troy, Emmitt and Michael still had game and just needed someone to stretch the field and open the offense back up. Last year I finally started to forget about that; this year it’s back on my mind.
With the exception of last year Ellis has been a major disappointment. His years as a defensive end certainly won’t make me forget Charles Hailey or Ed "Too Tall" Jones any time soon that for sure.

Moss
is also on his third team and had ugly divorces from the first two. Don’t forget his monster rookie year was fueled by motivation from being overlooked not just by Dallas, but by teams that passed him twice and one who drafted a receiver ahead of him.
It’s easy to assume he’d be just as productive had he been a Cowboy, truth is he could have been the one Irvin slashes with a scissors.

Ellis
When a 1st rounder stays on your team for a decade, especially as a starter—that’s a pretty good pick.

Flozell has been playing hurt
I mean its so obvious watching him play that his shoulder is injured. He was trying to block the Giants DEs with out using left arm and I got news for you, no LT playing in this league can block pro DEs with just one arm, not going to happen.
A healthy Flo is a top LT in the league.
As for Ellis, he still can produce, but you can’t expect him him to play every down at his age like Ware does. Spencer being injured has worn him down, he needs for Spencer to remain healthy and on the field to keep him fresh, then we’ll see some pressure from him. We really need to address OLB in free agency and the draft because having only 3 OLB that can play isn’t going to cut it.
