I think Mike Jenkins is going to be a very good cornerback for the Cowboys. But he'll need to prove it to live down this play,

I just got done reading the book “Boys will be Boys” and there is a part where they talk about Deion Sanders pulling a similar play. Sanders told the coaches during film review that he made a “business decision”.

yeah but Sanders was also the greatest cover CB
in the history of the game, if Jenkins can shut down any CB he ever faces, he can get a pass as well.
Until then, c’mon man, TACKLE!!!

Jenkins is a physical corner.
That’s why this play boggles me. Think he just got caught thinking that Ward was gonna bounce outside and he had containment. Hey, with all the white jerseys in the middle of the field (K.Burnett for one), somebody shoulda had him.
Does look like Jenkins coulda at least swiped at the ball there.

Jenkins will NEVER live that down
I like the kid but lost alot of repsect for him after watching him sunday…What a joke that was…We do not need players like that on this team..what a joke

Jenkins
will easily live that down. No one is going to care two weeks from now that he was lacking effort in a blow-out regular season loss to the Giants when the entire team was pathetic.

Who cares.....this is getting overblown
Should he at least tryed..yes. Would he had made a difference if he attempted to make the tackle….no way!!. Ward was blowing by him and whoever was around him regardless. The last thing we needed him to do was stick his hand, arm, body…whatever in there and get injured. That is the last thing we needed. He made a rookie mistake. So learn from it and move on. I think we have much more serious matters going on with this team than wasting time talking about this. Jenkins is going to be a very good CB in this league. He is a rookie and rookies don’t grow into Deion Sanders type players overnight.

I hope this team still has a sense of humor.
A rookie needs a little hazing after a stunt like that. RoyW1’s got time to think up a good prank.

I just don't believe he flat out gave up on the play...
It looks more to me like he’s waiting on Ward to bounce the run back outside with Bradie and Kevin Burnett coming from the middle…

thats the problem with the defensive mindset
thinking another guy is going to make the play instead of just being aggressive and making it yourself.
Like LT once said, if you’re going to make a mistake, make it going full speed.

whatever the reason...
that was just ugly. my 4th grade ymca coach would have pulled me out of the game and chewed me out after a play like that.

That's a GUTLESS turd of a player right there
Scared and indifferent. Wade should have made him inactive the next 4 games and stated why during the press conference. He’s making about $1,000,000 a season, more money per game than I make in a year, and he can’t even lower his head and tackle a running back.

Hey Guys...OVER REACT MUCH???????
Not like he blew it on a game winning (or losing) play!
What about the drive that got them into position for that play????
Oh C’mon guys surely you remember how the Giants shoved it down our throats during that Drive.
I don’t remember hearing your namesake(CANTY99) having his name called….You know why….he spent the majority of that drive getting dominated!!!!
Jeez guys….You think Jaque reeves or Nate Jones makes that play……If you say yes you’re full of it!!!

Yeah and to think he gave us 7 points on defense.
more than other player on defense has done the whole season. Who cares if it was bad throw by Eli. He made the catch and went to the house with it.

you mean that Larry Brown INT?
yeah, every blogger on this site could have caught that ball and took it back to the house. Talk about a qb gifting an INT and TD, that was it.

lack of effort? well, that play by Jenkins pretty much sums up what our problems are and he’s definitely a part of it.

Just call 'em like I see 'em
What I saw was an NFL defensive player standing right next to a running back with the ball and making no effort to tackle him. I rarely see that in an NFL game. But, I can still like a player and call out his failings, it doesn’t have to be all or nothing with me. I can walk and chew gum, too!

I watched the play and he doesn't appear as close to Ward as the camera angle shows
I was at the game, on the same side about 20 yards from the play. Like another poster already pointed out he may have thought Ward was bouncing outside protecting the sideline. In the end he wasn’t stopping him. Ward had a head of steam and was blowing by everyone. Like I said he should’ve at least tryed, but who knows what he was thinking at the time. It would be interesting to hear what he says about the play. He was a phsyical CB in college and has been for the most part here so let’s not be so judge-mental about a rookie because, he has been one of our best CB’s this season. As I keep saying people are in denial if all they can pick out is a rookie CB failing to make a tackle. There are some major problems on this team from the coaching on down. Jenkins is the least of our worries. Let’s focus on the real problems and not what a rookie failed to do.

Looked to me like he was expecting an outside move and got caught flat footed. If you got benched four games every time that happened, you wouldn’t be seeing Bradie James all season.

I'm a big fan of Canty's
I watched him play 4 years at UVA and was ecstatic when we drafted him.
But he has been a disappointment this year….I thought this year would be canty’s breakout year(AKA contract year) but you only hear his name called maybe once a game. But no…I’ve never seen Canty “Give up” on a play…..But I also know that chris can dominate,I just haven’t seen it this year.

I live close to the UVA campus and my best friend is a season ticketholder so I get to see quite a few games(being a UNC grad….I hate to admit I was in C’ville for the cavs overtime victory over my tar heels). But Yeah…Canty REALLY needs to step it up!

Ok so would you guys want Reeves and Jones back.
I sure as hell don’t. Jenkins is a very talented player that had a rough game besides his pick six. He played a great game against the Bucs. Scandrick was responsible for a td given up as well.

I think the only reason it took this long
was that Spencer couldn’t stay on the field. Probably the only reason Burnett hasn’t unseated James, and probably the reason Burnett will be a starter elsewhere next season.
