Most Memorable Cowboys Games Ever??
Hey Guys,
I'm new to the site but love what I see so far and can't wait to get more involved.
A question for you though- If you were to think back over the past 30 years or so of Cowboys football, which individual games stick out most in your minds? Things like huge comebacks, miraculous wins, crazy things that happened in the stands, SuperBowls, conference championships, blunder type games (Leon Lett type things)?
Thanks guys!! Just trying to get some insight into what makes the Cowboys so special to so many of us!!

One of my favorites
was Thanksgiving Day in ’94 when Jason Garrett led the Boys to a 42-31 win over the Packers. One of the most exciting games in Cowboys history.

January 2, 1994; Cowboys 13, Giants 10
Emmit Smith Baby.
229 all purpose yards and played an entire half with a separated shoulder.
I remember watching this game at my church. They had a big lunch after services and somebody set up a television for the Cowboy fans.

1980 I believe... in Arlington, VA
I was watching the game with a good friend of mine (Redskin fan) and what I remember was that Larry Cole threw Riggins for a 2 yard loss on what I think was a 3rd and 2 late in the 4th quarter. If they get the 1st down the Redskins run out the clock and win, but as it turned out the Redskins punted and as usual Staubach (The greatest Cowboy quarterback) brought the Cowboys back……Touchdown!! Tony Hill, knocking the Redskins out of the playoffs and if I’m not mistaken this was the game where Harvey Martin threw the funeral wreath into the Redskin locker room afterwards. The game went back and forth and I believe the score was something like 35-34. It was unbelievable.

For some reason
a Monday night game against the Skins always sticks out to me. It was the one when Isaac Holt blocked a punt. 90? 91?
That, to me, showed that the Cowboys were coming off the schneid and would finally be getting some air time on the West Coast (also thanks to their rivalry w/the 49ers).

2 games from childhood
sticks out to me. The first game is the 1979 game against the Skins at home when the Skins took a 21 point lead on us by the end of the 3rd qtr on a long run by John Riggins and Capt Comeback, Roger the Dodger brought the team back and won the game with a TD pass to Tony Hill. That was the best comeback I’ve ever witnessed by the Boys.
The second game was the 1975 divisional playoff game against the Vikings at Minnesota in which Roger threw the Hail Mary to Drew Pearson to win the game.
There were many others, all the SB and playoff wins and important regular season games, its hard to pick just one.

Last Year
Well Im from Australia, and have only been watching football for 2 years now so i cant go as far back as you. However the game that i’ll always remember was the Buffalo game last year.(25-24 I think) That game really got me interested in the sport.

Its kinda weak....
but one of my favorites is December 26th 2004. Cowboys-Redskins. The final score was 13-10, we lead most of the game 6-3 when Patrick Ramsey scored the go ahead touchdown late in the 4th quarter. (I wish I could find all the stats with the time left and everything, but my memory will have to do). I was watching this game at my now father-in-law’s house and even though we were both 5-9 at the time he is loving every second of those final minutes, since this was in the midst of our 11-0 (or something like that) streak over them. Then Vinny Testaverde throws the 39 yard game winning touchdown to our unknown young wide receiver Patrick Crayton. I said nothing just sat in the same position on the couch, tried to be the gracious winner, with a shit-eatin grin from ear to ear and an even bigger smile on the inside. I loved it!
A meaningless game in a 6-10 season, but the look on his face and the satisfaction I felt from that win were amazing.
There are of course a bunch more meaningful games that were awesome. Like our last playoff win at home vs. Vikings, I was there in Texas Stadium for my second pro game and it was a great one to see.
First to six!!!

That's a good one.
I was home for Christmas watching that game with my family. Yeah, the season had been a disappointment but what a great way to beat the Skins at home. That always puts a bright spot on the season in my eyes.

Unfortunately for me,
The most memorable Cowboys game for me is one that they lost, January 1982 in the NFC Championship to the 49ers. Never has a lost hurt as much as that one. I will never forget that after "the catch" there was still a minute to play and enough time to get into field goal range and win the game 30-28. The Boys completed a couple of quick throws that not only moved the chains but also got out of bounds. Things were looking good until Danny (almost but not quite) White fumbled the snap and Niners recovered; game over.
That is the biggest reason why my favorite Cowboys win came 11 years later in the NFC championship game between the same two teams in the exact same stadium. I will never forget how I felt when the Niners cut the lead to 24-20; "Oh NO! Not Again". But then all my concerns were instantly erased as Alvin Harper raced down the sideline with a 50 + yard gain on a gusty call that iced the game.

Those Niner playoff games were huge for me too
since I grew up in a family of Niner fans here in CA. The greatest loss ever by any sports team was that ’94 season when Dallas came back from a 21 point deficit to heartily make the Candlestick fans earn their victory.
I still think Deion was guilty of pass interference on that deep ball to Irvin.
