Sunday games open thread
We get to sit back and watch the rest of the NFL play this Sunday.
This is an open thread for all the games today and any Cowboys chat.

DallasCowboys.com has a mid-season review.
An article focusing on our rookie class.
Titans center Kevin Mawae is giving the Cowboys the business.
"We don't have a Terrell Owens or a Chad Johnson," Titans center Kevin Mawae said. "We don't have Tony Romo dating a superstar. We just have a bunch of guys who play hard. We don't have distractions."
WTF?
Open thread.

Point taken
He is right the cowboys have more talent. The difference is HC they have fisher who has been there for 15 years and we have Wade. Plus they have been healthy.. The one major injury they suffered actually helped them out. Not sure they would be undefeated with VY.

Cowboy homer is a disease!!!
Norm Hitzges absolutely unloads on a caller that clearly has a fatal disease named Cowboy homer disease. Norm hits the nail on the head with regards to Tony Romo, Jerry Jones and some of these cowboy fans that look at this team with rose colored glasses on or just refuse to face the realistic facts about this team. I completely agree with norm when he says that there is something systematically wrong with this club..
two thoughts
1) i think that the negativity over the team has peaked, if the cowboys were a stock i would buy them here. i am not saying i am confident they make the playoffs, etc but i think things seem a lot less less bleak in a week, 3 weeks, etc
2) i agree that there is something systemically wrong with the team. i think its Jerry. his ego is out of control ad he wants credit for the team wining, so he hires weak coaches, controls the staff (has sole right to hire/fire assistants etc) so people think its his team through and through. the only problem is that this ends up ensuring the team is poorly coached. it says something that in a league that recycles coaches none of the jerry picks (Switzer/Gailey/Campo) end up getting consideration for another NFL head coaching gig. the team will underperform until jerry hires a coach and gives him control.
If JJ ego was
out of control then he would have replaced BJ during this past offseason or TC. There were articles that came out that he was severely disappointed with the way BJ had been playing. JJ took the word of his coaches that BJ would be fine as the main back-up. If JJ was out of control, he would have gone over their heads and brought in someone else to be the No. 2.

Deke, nobody is saying the team
doesn’t have to improve their play when Romo comes back, we’re saying Romo coming back should definitely instill a sense of urgency on this team to improve their play.
After we were 3-0 and through the Cards game, the team didn’t play with any kind of urgency. I think after the Ram game this team realized it just couldn’t show up and expect to win, however, with BJ at qb, there is no way we could be competitive against the Giants.
With Romo at qb and the team playing with a sense of urgency, we should see the real Cowboys team that everyone expected to see.
In Romo we Trust
Romo fixes a lot
1-our ability to score
2-field position battle
3-Time of possession
All of those things benefit the Defense and the offense.. He will not make it all better, but he will score 20 more points a game and give the D a blow.
"If you see me up in the mountains with a lion, I ain't lyin
don't help me, help the mountain lion"
with Romo we'll be in every single game
and really, thats all you can ask for, to have a chance to win every game. Without Romo, we have no chance.
In Romo we Trust
I hope we win the Superbowl
and then maybe I will get to see Deke write something positive about the Cowboys
First to six!!!
Me too
But even if we win it he won’t post positive. He doesn’t have faith in the team, which in my eyes is fine because we don’t look very impressive. But the fact is he loves posting negative because it annoys everyone. He obviously gets pleasure out of saying how bad the team is and how wrong everyone is for having faith in their own team. It’s just him and we should learn to ignore it because us getting annoyed is just his fuel to keep doing what he does.
Who Cares?
Just let him. It can’t all be Mary Poppins in here, imagine how boring that would be?

Many do if you read the posts
I’m just saying, everyone gets all worked up when arguing him (not blaming anyone because I include myself in the mix). No need to because no matter what you say that is good about the team he will tell you you’re wrong and that we have no chance at winning.
He's right, they don't have a TO or Romo
They just have a punk overpaid, binge drinking, stripping in front of guys, hack QB. I am so sick of this kind of crap.
Seems like everyone is kicking us while we are down
If those clowns had any chutzpah they would have been taking shots at us when we were 3-0. Well they better enjoy it now because I feel like we are going to come out of this bye week on fire.
NY Jets up 40-0 at half
Over STL… Dallas got hammered by STL34-14
Cowboys fan since 1978.. I was 3 years old
why, does Steve jackson play defense
forty points in a half of football…..thats what their defense allowed, where Dallas defense flat out quit in the second half against the rams, while the offense mustered 14 lousy points…
Joe Flacco
played like a top-5 quarterback today, and the guy is a rookie. I love this guy and am willing to bet that he’s the next Tom Brady.
How pathetic are the raiders!!
They just used all three of their timeouts in the first quarter, and there is still over six minutes left in the first quarter………..
F Mawae
whoever Romo dates is no distraction. Romo is 10 times the QB Collins is. You know, I have been critical of Romo a few times this year, but while he has been out you really realize how good he is, I’m not just talking in comparison to Johnson and Bollinger, but just better than most other QB’s out there in general. Phillip River, Eli Manning, Drew Brees, all the QB’s everyone thinks walk on water, I’ve watched all these guys this year, and not one of them has outplayed Romo. Just watching these guys you realize that all QB’s make mistakes here and there.
we have things wrong, most notably in the coaching staff and JJ taking control of everything again that make me pessimistic that we can do anything, but Romo is nowhere near the top, or middle of this list.
I was thinking the same thing Terry
He ran it often at Arkansas. Garrett needs to change things up because our offense ir very vanilla right now
Look up... get up...Don't ever, ever give up!!
Sound wisdon.
“We don’t have Tony Romo dating a superstar. We just have a bunch of guys who play hard. We don’t have distractions.”
What rational person honestly thinks the team is distracted by whom Tony does or does not date? Its apparent the only people who care are all outside of Dallas (I guess he could mean that non-Cowboys players find themselves distracted by things that shouldn’t concern them). I mean really….this is so stupid.
Come and whisper in my ear, give us dirty laundry - ESPN
we don't have jerkwads like you...
on our team either…thank god…..
there is a reason lineman should be seen and not heard….
"They need security in the world, Craig!"
I'd rather have the gints lose
the main reason is to keep the pressure on all the teams in the east to perform well. If the gints lose they will have more pressure on themselves to perform and could end up losing at least a couple more games. I just think its better to have all the teams duking it out over the season for the div. instead of just the WC.

catching the Giants is out of the question
If you go through the schedules for all four teams and break down their games, the only way for dallas to get a playoff spot is for phily and Washington to stay in reach. The last game of the year when dallas plays in Philly, it could be for the final wildcard spot
Uness dallas get their butts in gear, which from what i’ve seen over the last fourteen games, I dont think its going to happen, the nfc will look something like this
Giants win the division 11-5
Eagles second at 11-5 wildcard
Washington 10-6 wildcard
Dallas if they get to 10-6 out of playoffs
You need for the giants to win to keep philly close, Dallas cant catch the Giants
I don't know who I want to win midgets or eagirls
I just want them both to play badly and beat each other up
i hope not...
never a good thing when you team succeeds, wins a championship and your QB matures right after YOU LEAVE!
he’s a tool…..
"They need security in the world, Craig!"
this is like...
choosing between watching a chick flick or hannah montana….
your screwed either way…..
looks like the eagles are making my decision for me….the don’t seem remotely interested in this game….
"They need security in the world, Craig!"
Did you guys hear what Madden said?
If you play well, you’re a leader, it has absolutely nothing to do with what comes out of your mouth.
So true.
In Romo we Trust
The Giants look pretty much unstoppable. They just resumed their SB season.
Of course their coach isn’t the owner’s hand-puppet; and they have a GM who’s a real football guy.
Wharter
yeah, we looked unstoppable
last year at this time as well. Still, a long way to go before the SB.
In Romo we Trust
Did understand that last call by Philly
but they have to be happy be within three after being dominated by the giants in the first half
that's a rule that needs to be changed
it should be where the ball leaves the quarterbacks hand, the ball itself should be the marker, not the whole body of the querterback
Eli has had some dirt on his upper lip and his chin all game
some needs to get him a rag to wipe it off
those last two calls make no sense
just like the call before the first half when they had to settle for three
really really stupid playcalls
at least give donovan a chance; westbrook’s been all gimpy
George Teague did it all.

well, I'm happy the giants won
if that’s something to be happy about, but it does keep philly close and in reach
Isn't it great
moving up in the division without playing? LOL
Sadly
it’s pretty clear we aren’t catching the Giants. So we just need them to go ahead and beat anyone in the nfc vying for a wildcard spot other than us. God I hate rooting for the Giants.
i know
it really is painful to have to emotionally concede them the division and root for them to beat everyone else. ugh. (having jacobs and boss in ff did help a bit though lol.)
Lol
I need to finally try a ff next year. I keep meaning to join a league, but I always forget.
In any case, if we admit the division is out of reach, the Giants could really help us by beating the Deadskins and the Iggles again, plus there is Arizona and Carolina. Though, it seems more and more that the Cardinals will win the division so that game really doesn’t matter. The same could be said for Carolina, but Tampa and Atlanta are biting at their heels.
well, if the Giants lose to
the Skins, Eagles and Cowboys and the Cowboys win out, we’d win the division with a better divisional record…..I know, highly unlikely but you never know…just saying.
In Romo we Trust
keep Philly close???
Technically, the Cowboys are ahead of the Eagles in the division given that we beat them already.

even though i had to painfully root for the giants...
…it was FUN to watch Jacobs take some vicious licks tonight.
i especially loved the clean clothesline on the fumble that he lost (i think it was either bradley or gocong that laid the hit on him).
that was sweet.
