Najeh Davenport?
Steelers once again cut Najeh. Given Barber's situation, he may need to rest next weekend against Pitt. It'd be wise if the boys signed Davenport, to spell Choice in Pittsburgh. Don't forget, Najeh even has experience at KR and would be a nice compliment until Austin gets back. Basically, I'd rather see Choice & Davenport than Choice & Coleman/Lattimore. I think Jerry is smart enough not to sign Alexander, PLUS and a big PLUS, Najeh might be able to give us a little knowledge and insight about his former team this weekend, then we can cut him after giving him one veteran game check if need be.

MB3 won't be resting
He’ll be in the lineup against the Steelers for sure.
I seriously doubt the Cowboys sign Davenport, I think they’ll just go with MB3 and Choice.

That's fine if MB3 is definitely going to play
but we’ll never know with this spin-machine that the Cowboys organization’s PR has turned into this year. Secondly, what is Barber tries to go early and can’t? Much like the 3rd qtr last week, we’ll need a 3rd RB on the roster next week. PLUS think of the “trade secrets” Najeh can share, he can’t be the least bit happy about that organization. This isn’t baseball where you can trade a player and easily change the hand signals so that player can’t tip off his new team. A one week turnaround is such a short period of time to completely alter your playbook.

I don't think Davenport can tell the Cowboys
anything that they can’t see on film. The bottom line is that we’re not going to do much rushing against the Steelers any way since nobody runs on that team.
To beat the Steelers, you have to do it through the air as their secondary covers worse than ours.
With that said, if Davenport is good at picking up their blitzes, then maybe he can help us, otherwise I’d pass.

Well the Pats managed to rush for over a 100 yards. They were successful running out of the shotgun formation, which Dallas should at least try this Sunday.

trust me
I’m sure there is some good information he can contribute to our defense and coaches regarding some offensive intricacies that they do on offense, whether it’s a certain cadence around the line, audibles, go to 4th down plays, etc etc.
True, he won’t be a gamebreaker if we do add him and you’re right, they’re aren’t easy to rush against, but still someone needs to share the load and help pick up blitzes with Tashard, you can’t have the rookie out there for every snap. Our options are: Lattimore, Coleman, Alexander, Davenport. Given the circumstances, I’d be inclined to go with Davenport. Plus there’s always that adrenaline you get when you play your former team, he’s got to have a lot of animosity towards them, who knows maybe he could break a run or kick off.

Something tells me rushing yards will be hard to come by
The combination of Barber being banged up, the Steelers leading the league in rushing defense (both yards per game and yards per carry – 3.1!), Heinz Field reportedly being in terrible condition, and the Cowboys not having rushed for over 100 yards in consecutive games yet this season does not bode well for their rushing offense.
I think our only hope is to jump out early against the Steelers. I mean, anything is possible with Romo, but if he gets sacked and stripped early and the offense has to play from behind, then that might be trouble. But I do think the Cowboys defense stacks up well againt the Pittsburgh offense. And now I must win the award for most obvious observations of the day. Thank you very much.

I attended the Pitt/WVU game this past Friday
and the field didn’t look bad at all, actually it looked pretty good for Heinz Field. Pitt is done playing playing there and unless they have some high school playoff games there this Friday or Saturday, it should be in decent shape.

I'd almost welcome the bad field conditions.
Is Ben ‘sack king’ Rothleisberger going to beat us through the air? I know, it’s the Dallas secondary, but still, the man gets sacked more than any QB since Drew Bledsoe! (no, that’s not a stat, but it sure seems like it, he’s always on his back!)

I has been reported the 3 High School State Championship games are being played there the day before our big match up.....
And if anybody recalls last years disaster game played last year after these games….It’s going to be a muck fest…..The are going to put new sod over the muck, which makes for extremely miserable field conditions….

you're correct
If these high school games take place, the field will be pretty much unplayable.
First team to 10 points might win.

this is pro field. we’ve already got enough tweeked ankles & knees.
i wish gestapo goodell would step in on these kind of issues instead of suspending players for pushing their bodyguards

Completely disagree
If the field is bad, that means the recievers will be slipping all over the place and the running game becomes that much more important. The offense should have an advantage with a bad field because it is easier to block guys and move them to where you want then it is to break blocks and get upfield.
Our Oline and Dline will win or lose this game for us and our rushing attack has to come up big.

True. At the same time though we'll be stacking the box
and playing a lot of man with Newman, Scandrick, Jones (hopefully Henry finds a seat)
I actually feel comfortable with our DBs playing press and man defense against Ben, something just looks off with his accuracy this year.

I thought the rule of thumb
is that a muddy field helps the passing offense, since the receivers know where they are going and secondaries will be falling all over the place. I could be wrong, of course.

the worst thing about the trashed field
is that it is conducive to injuries with holes and loose turf.

another benefit of davenport
would be his insight to footing… cleat size, etc. whoever runs that for us sucks since we’ve been slipping on every field all year.

Dookie
Cool thing about having Davenport on your team is that he becomes a secret weapon to help combat against trash talkers.
When the opposing trash talker is on the field face up, Dookie simply straddles, squats, and $h!+$ into the opening of the facemask. Unfortunately, that doesn’t work as well on players with da LT2 visors.
