Monday Night Football open thread
Jaguars @ Texans. Not exactly the best ending to a holiday weekend stuffed with football viewing. But it is what it is.
And this is an open thread for the game.

Thanks for nothin, Jags!
Ruining my Super Bowl pick.
I had either them or the Chargers in the SB, but then they both have to go and suck.

Dog of a game maybe

no way
I’d take the Cowboys blowing out a team every Sunday. definitely makes my eyes feel soooo good.

I love getting mad at a worthless Tony Romo INT
Because it wasn’t a TD.
Better than getting mad at an INT in a close game…

Or at a missed field goal in a game you later lost in OT.

nice to see a coach not in a track suit on the sidelines

Yes
The great Jack Del Rio. One of my favorites when he was playing for Dallas.

I really wish the league would mandate the coaches actually dress like they're the coach
by Deke on Dec 1, 2008 7:58 PM CST up reply actions 0 recs
they do, they require all coaches
to wear official NFL licensed appearal

dressing up in hooded track suits on the sidelines like belicheck was yesterday, makes them looks like unprofessional
suit or pants, shirt and a sport jacket…
A coach doesn’t need to wear NFL logo apparel, nobody buys team gear based on what the head coach wears.
I’m glad Del Rio bucked that trend even though they stuck a team logo on his jacket, atleast he looks professional. The league wants the players to look and act professional, why can the same be aske form the head coaches
by Deke on Dec 1, 2008 8:16 PM CST up reply actions 0 recs
yeah Deke, I'm sure dressing up
and looking all preppy in rain and sleet is really practicable, yeah that really makes a lot of sense….NOT!
BTW, you’re theory isn’t true, I always used to buy the jackets Pacells wore on the sidelines…so there. ;)

yeah it was only practical for sixty plus years
I guess you’re too young to know. Maybe you heard of this guy, tom Landry, he only dressed in a suit and hat, looked professional and was class personified.
by Deke on Dec 1, 2008 8:37 PM CST up reply actions 0 recs
Del Rio looks professional?
If we’re talking about used car dealers! Dude. He’s wearing a GREASY leather jacket with a shirt and tie! SPORT JACKET? lol…

OT: Adrian Peterson
He’s had a very quiet 1300 yard season.

I Wouldn't Call It 'Quiet'.

I’ve watched a couple games where Peterson dominated the end of the game like he was John Elway on a come-from-behind win-the-game drive. Peterson is pretty amazing.

hmm, how come he never did that in Dallas LOL

Drew Rosenhaus sucking up to the Giants
I dont think that’s going to work Drew, because I think the giants have had it with Plaxico and will suspend him soon and then release him after the season…
by Deke on Dec 1, 2008 9:11 PM CST reply actions 0 recs
Most likely.
They don’t need him, which they proved when they waxed the Redskins.

Actually there is word that due to his injury from the gunshot
the gints will put him on the non-football illness/injury list so they could try to reclaim their money from plax. Here is a link from PFT and it would not suprise me if this happens.

yeah, that's what I meant, suspended as a result of a non football injury, then cut
And from what I understand, if the Giants cut him this year, it would only cost them 4 million next year on their cap, if they keep him on the roster, its a 8.9 milion cap hit, that alone is the reason why I said he will be cut this year. The Giants unlike the cowboys, will make a statement with this player by cutting him. There is no doubt Plaxico is going to jail, he cant get out of it, the evidence is clear, he was shot by his own gun that he didn’t have a valid permit or licience to carry one and I suspect the league will suspend him when they finish their investigation, probably a year suspension coming for Plaxico.

Del Rio
looks like he’s about to haul some kind of bazooka out from under that finely crafted leather jacket and start mowing down somebody.

Game....
Two dogs fighting over a bone. The basement bowl. As for Reeves I’m very happy he is in Houston and not getting torched in Dallas.

It’s going to be tough to beat Pittsburg, at Pittsburg. Palamalo seems to be having an outstanding year.
I was looking at the graphic… how about a fedora instead of a cowboy hat?

Some encouraging stats!
Good news below for our front seven (the link connects to the actual article and chart— I’ve quoted some below as well)— we have moved up from 25th against the run to 3rd in the second half. Of course, part of that is the relative weakness of our recent opponents, but games against two of the NFL’s leading HBs (Portis and Gore) are included in that improved stretch, so I think there’s reason to be proud of our front seven, and hopefully reason to believe that we can hold up better against teams like the Giants down the stretch here (not as significant against Pittsburgh, who is a passing-oriented team, despite what idiot commentators who stereotype them as “smashmouth” will tell you).
"Biggest Upswing, Defense, Since Week 9
Don’t worry, Redskins fans, we’re sure that the timing of Oakland’s move from 16th to 3rd in Pass defense DVOA just happens to coincide with DeAngelo Hall’s departure. That said, you’ve been warned. Dallas’s secondary hasn’t been playing much better of late, but their front seven has been spectacular, especially DeMarcus Ware and Jay Ratliff. They’ve moved from 25th to 3rd against the run. The Bengals and Saints are disappointing defenses finding their way, and the Ravens have passed the Steelers, just barely, as DVOA’s best defense, despite giving up 207 yards rushing to the Giants in Week 11.
