Whether this T.O stuff is true or not....

it’s really wearing on me. Time to cut bait. Seriously, let him go. The 90’s Cowboys have nothing in terms of Soap Opera atmosphere compared to these guys. It’s non stop. I know that electronic media is faster and than is was 15 years ago but I don’t remember hearing as much bullshit as I do now. I just want to see them play football! I don’t care if Jessica takes Tony’s load on the chin or if T.O is crying, please just play ball.

by Captain Comeback on Dec 11, 2008 7:07 PM CST reply actions

are you serious

If it’s not true, and he did no wrong why would you cut him?

by joey7289 on Dec 11, 2008 7:26 PM CST up reply actions

Oh yeah.....

Cut one of the best receivers of all time…because……MSM won’t leave him alone?
what did he do wrong….he went to his coordinator…with two other players to voice concerns?
Well fire him….nobody ever does that.
But if he catches a touchdown or 2 on sunday and we win……should we cut him before the Ravens game?
Of course not….this is stupid and it will not happen!

today's media is different than it was even 10 years ago

10 years ago, letters to the editor took effort to write, were parsed and edited (or completely ignored) by the newspaper, and were thrown away with that issue.

now, you don’t have to play with the newspaper (what’s “paper?”) to participate in media

now the media is constant, immediate, open to anyone, and irreversable.

it’s constant
24 hours every day. we don’t have to wait on the newspaper to come out every day. we can access blogs such as this one (though, there is no other one for good cowboys coverage) at any time.

it’s immediate
we live and breathe on a cowboys blog that has threads during games, we don’t even have to know the outcome of the game to participate in breaking it down and talking about it

it’s open to anyone
you don’t have to have media creds to report or criticize. you just have to have a url or access to one

it’s irreversable
once it’s out there, it’s there. if it ever hits cyberspace, there’s no way to permanently delete it.

so while i agree, this is ridiculous, we have to take into account that this is a different age when fan-dom has become something that we participate in constantly.

I remember a movie called Biloxi Blues where the characters are upset with a guy

keeping a journal in which he writes down his opinion of his fellow army platoon. In one account he considers the possibility that one of them is gay. After his journal is read, people turn his perception into reality. When I read your comment it made me think of this line: “people will believe anything written down, because why would someone bother to write it if didn’t have some truth to it.” That is what mickey was talking about yesterday, that perception becomes reality and regardless if the story is true the perception gives the story life, which is just sad.

I need a big night out of Reggie Bush...

you know, for fantasy football purposes.

It’s so frustrating not being able to see Thursday night games. Time Warner Cable and NFL Network dont’ get along. Will be heading to a sports bar next week for the Ravens game.

All this controversy will go away if the Cowboys win

I think Witten should be resting anyway though, I have this suspicion that his execution is suffering from less practice due to his injuries. Also I’m a total homer for Bennett

I just want to know what has gone so wrong.............

Does anyone here remember T.O. crying after the playoff lose to the Giants defending “his” qb? I believe his exact words were “thats my quarterback and if you blame it on him its just not fair…..sniff, sniff”. Listen, i have never been a big fan of T.O. and his me first attitude but in this case, i really don’t see anything wrong with this meeting he had with Garrett. He actually did what he was supposed to do, he went to the coachs with his teammates and they talked about it. He didnt seek out the media and throw anybody under the bus like he has in the past. If anybody threw anybody under the bus its this “un named player” that is Ed Werders buddy. Either way, they have to put all this b.s. aside and kick the giants ass.

Now that i got that off my chest………whats the score of the saints bears game?

I just read on the DMN Blog

that Caryton is predicting a Super Bowl run….gotta love Patrick.

then the cowboys fate is definitly sealed

Everytime he shoots his mouth off, he usually puts his foot in it, so that’s a guarantee we wont win.

by Deke on Dec 11, 2008 8:20 PM CST up reply actions

I just actually read the article

He doesn’t predict a Super Bowl run, he says that if they want to get to the Super Bowl, its a 7 game stretch that starts this week. Three games to get in the playoffs and four to win it all. Basically what it seemed to me like he was saying is that the playoffs start this week, and its gonna take 7 straight victories to take home the Lombardi. Can’t say I can argue with that.

Crayton is ...

the shmuck we have to cut……freaking big mouth, ball dropping moron!!!!

Anyone else just simply tired of this season???…we have the talent, we simply did not get it done……..just two games come to mind….St Luis and Arizona, we tied the game @ zona got the ball for the overtime kill and simply got our asses kicked in three stupid plays, we lost to the rams dude (fu*^$ng Brad shouldve been sent to hell right after the 3rd qtr….I would have not given him permission to even fly back on the same plane)….all this stuff we’re going through now after the 5-4 record praying for miracles its just BS…..its not gonna happen this season.

by ManTab on Dec 11, 2008 8:32 PM CST up reply actions

just total fustration for me

I expected alot more from this team this year, but in the end they looked alot like last years team, too many penalties, too many turnovers, too many poor decisions, a mixed bag on offense too pass happy and a defense the looked lost at times, but they have been playing better since Wade Phillips was calling the defense lately, but with all the injuries lately and games given away earlier in the season, I think it’s going to be, sorry to day it, a wasted season.

I’ll be on TO’s side. I remember after he got suspended in Philly, some of his team mates came to his birthday party. You have to wonder who was the problem in Philly. The problem with TO is that he’s just too honest.
I’m just getting fed up Romo now. Him walking off the field while Holland was lying face down just shows you how much he cares team mates. This goofball is going is still going to be laughing while Tuck is knocking him around.

by ym on Dec 11, 2008 8:22 PM CST reply actions

You also hafta look at who he was beefing with in Philly...

The quarterback…who was 100% backed up the head coach (and still is, almost to a fault)…and the head coach who is 100% backed by the owner. It became T.O. against the organization as a whole. Up until the alleged locker room fight, I’m sure he was as alienated at BSPN led us to believe.

Hey guys...quick question.

What is the deal with all the drama in Dallas this year?

It reminds me of that 80s evening soap opera show about the rich people that whined all the time…what was it called?

GO BRONCOS!!!

Oh well......here goes my plan for next year

If I’m Jerry Jones this is what I do:

1. Offer Jimmy Johnson 10% ownership and $5 million a year to come back to coach this team again. It would increase the value of the franchise by at least 20% plus it would bring all the attention Jerry craves. It might also bring the character and accountability this team lacks.

2. Somehow convince Wade to stay on board as DC…at the same time Brian Stewart becomes the waterboy or the freacking bus driver…..anything not related to football.

3. Bring back Joe Avezzano. For the love of god….

4. Trade Roy Williams the safety (if anyone has the stomach to still call him a safety…safety…jajajaja, amazing), Crayton, Spears, Canty (Play Tank, Rattliff at end and Hatcher), Ellis (enough of this crying BS every offseason)….

5. We can’t play Chioce, Barber and Felix so one of them for a 1st rounder somehow sounds good.

6. Draft some mean, ugly looking, hard hitting, breath stinking, heavy fat cows to play D-Line and O-line.

7. Burn the valley ranch press conference room and order everyone o shut the f*&^p up and play hard, practice hard and shut up!!!….

Thanks for reading….good night.

by ManTab on Dec 11, 2008 10:11 PM CST reply actions

not so fast....

I would also make sure I bring back Owens, Tank and Pacman. If i can get a 1st or 2nd for Newman he can walk…. (if he’s not hurt……hell with him, cost us the washington game and a very good part of the Pittsburgh game)….

by ManTab on Dec 11, 2008 10:13 PM CST up reply actions

A couple of problems with that

Jimmy makes more money sitting on the FOX set, works on day a week, fishes the rest, he’s not coming back for nothing.

Wade wont take a emotion, Dom Caopers anyone… Bobby Bouche as the waterboy…..

I’m all for crazy Joe back

Nobody wants the thong, cheaper to cut him after Jun 1st

Ellis wont be back

Down to oe back right now, Choice and Jones and Barber have long term contracts, no need to worry about the runnug backs

Need to draft a ture Nose tackle

you can burn the press conference room, but who will shut up Jerry, he gives more false info than Wade Phillips

Newmans got a long tern deal, not going anywhere.

T.O can hit the road, pac-rat too Tank not worth a long term deal, wrong defense for him..Proctor can go, Ellis can go, Roy Williams can go, Berger can go, Hurd can go….

by Deke on Dec 11, 2008 10:25 PM CST up reply actions

you can

get a true NT late in the draft, you don’t need to spend a first round pick on it…pick wise i think we’re fine.

by joey7289 on Dec 11, 2008 10:27 PM CST up reply actions

i know

someone said trade one of our RB’s for a first, I don’t feel that’s it’s a necessity

by joey7289 on Dec 11, 2008 10:30 PM CST up reply actions

certainly not getting a first for Choice

and Jones and Barber aren’t going anywhere that’s for sure

by Deke on Dec 11, 2008 10:31 PM CST up reply actions

Choice is at least worth a second round pick

and depending on how he plays the rest of the season maybe more.

by quincyyyyy on Dec 11, 2008 10:33 PM CST up reply actions

I would totally disagree with that

Choice was a 4th round pick. He was actually considered to have second round talent, but because this year’s class was loaded he slid to the third round. Also he came from a pro-style offense in GT and was the main guy there.

Moreover, his value has only gone up since the draft since he has shown he can produce at the next level, so you don’t have a risk with him as you would with rookies. I promise you we could get a second round pick for him.

by quincyyyyy on Dec 11, 2008 10:55 PM CST up reply actions

his problem is he doesn't have break away speed

just like Barber, a really good value for a fourth round pick, probably a round later than where he was rated. We are down to one back now as it is with Jones on IR and barber nursing a toe inury, why would dallas trade him and weaken a spot on the roster where we have good young depth, makes no sense and isn’t happening….

by Deke on Dec 11, 2008 11:08 PM CST up reply actions

agreed

why trade any of them…every other drive i would go barber, then jones and choice, it would be unstoppable.

by joey7289 on Dec 11, 2008 10:35 PM CST up reply actions

I say we should have Choice and Felix in the first half

then Barber and Felix in the second, and let Barber close out the games and be the main back on the two minute offense.

we're going to Overtime folks, bonus football!!! woohoo

Could Wade really be doing much better of a job?

I mean, with all the injuries and the pacmans and the TO’s and the broken pinkies, he is getting slammed as soft. I understand he hasnt earned the the benefit of the doubt. But this almost seems like an impossible job.

Just something I’ve been thinking about. About how our expectations would doom almost anybody head coaching in Dallas. Some people talk about a new coach, but could a different coach have done much better? I think he could have done a lot worse.
