My first trip to Texas Stadium
This Sunday night's win over the Giants was my first trip to Texas Stadium...and what a glorious trip it was!
I went to the game with two of my brothers (all of us from South Carolina), my dad and a friend of my dad's (both from Missouri). Words cannot describe the emotions that hit me as I saw the stadium for the first time; as I I waited in line 4 hours before the game with all those crazy fans; as I rounded the corner and saw the field for the first time; as Ted Nugent rocked out the National Anthem; as the loud speakers blared "Welcome to the Jungle" at kickoff; as Ware sacked Manning on the Giants first play. It was all surreal.
Especially poignant was the player introductions. The music blaring, Cheerleaders prancing out of the tunnel, the players running out, fireworks blasting, and then the formal introduction of the offense. All while the crowd cheers at military afterburner decibel levels. The hair on my arm was standing straight up. I think I've never been as excited in my entire life as at that moment!
I'd heard in the past that the crowd in Dallas wasn't as formidable perhaps as crowds in other cities; but I was having none of that. I screamed every time Eli Manning took a snap. I thought after the 1st quarter my voice would be completely gone, but somehow I managed to scream more and louder with every Giant snap. One of the things I thoroughly enjoyed was chanting "GIANTS SUCK" and "ELI SUCKS" with several hundred others in my section!
It's funny how different the experience is when you're actually there. (I've been to two Cowboys games previously, but they were both in Charlotte, NC against the Panthers, and Cowboys fans just about outnumbered Panthers fans. Not a very electric atmosphere.) But when you're there, you miss all the player celebrations, nit-picking of announcers, statistical overloads by the networks, and you simply revel with all your Cowboys brethren with every Dallas success, and you die with them with every Cowboys failure. (Praise God there was very little of that this week!) At home in front of the TV I usually watch scared, waiting for how the 'Boys might screw up next. Being present, it was as if the Giants game was the only one that existed, that ever existed, and we enjoyed it that way.
Of course, winning made it a greater experience, but I intended to enjoy it no matter what. I didn't mean for this fanpost to go on like this. Just wanted to share what an amazing experience it was. I hope you all get to do it sometime.

The Texas Stadium experience is amazing
I’m really glad I went to 5 games there over the past 8 years, it was truly an awesome expereince I’ll never forget.
I’m sure the new stadium will be out of this world, but Texas Stadium is special.

I only made it down there once, but I will always remember it.
It’s a one of a kind experience.

This Sunday was also my first game at Texas Stadium.
Arrived at the Corral around 3:30pm, went in for the pre-game, sat in the front row while they warmed up. I was surprised at the POSITIVE ovation T.O. received as he ran out onto the field for his pregame warmups, but boy did things change quickly. After yelling at the Giants players and asking Ruben Drougns “how’s special teams?” I made myself up to my seats. I also had chills as soon as the DC cheerleaders came out. Man, once Faith Hill started blaring on the big screen, it hit me that I was in Dallas (flew out from CT.) During the player introductions and the fire started shooting out next to the helmet, I actually found myself getting choked up, I also have never been this excited in my life. Unlike Faith’s song, I’ve been waiting all my LIFE for that Sunday Night and MAN it was worth every penny the trip cost. I’ll be there next year and hopefully every year thereafter. Go Boys!

It was incredible.
My first game as well. When they took the field to “down with the sickness” and the pyros flaring by the helmet, I was just awestruck. The most unbelievable sports experience I’ve ever had. It was nice to give it to the vocal New York Midget fans around us.
Aikman and Bradshaw?
Please. They are in the same league as Trent Dilfer and Jim McMahon as QBs who were taken to the SB by great Defenses and great Running Games.

ahh
i wish i could go to texas stadium
never been there, in fact i’ve only been to dallas once and i was like 8 or 9 at the time
i live in d.c. so i’ve been to a cowboys-redskins game but that was when the ‘boys were pretty..awful
i definitely plan on going to the new stadium next year though
i’ll be in l.a. next year and it’ll be easier flying down to dallas for some cowboys football
can’t wait
Superbowl or Bust?
Why did you have to wait in line for four hours?
This might be a stupid question, but since I live in Australia Ive never had the experience of going to a live NFL game.
On a side note, what is ‘tailgaiting’?
tailgating
is hanging out in the parking lot with other cowboys fans and friends
and people have tv’s set up and barbecues and food and all sorts of stuff
ppl bring chairs and tents etc..well maybe not tents but u know what i mean
did it at the skins-boys game last year..except that game really didnt matter and it turned out to be a bit embarrassing but still fun
Superbowl or Bust?
as strange as this might sound
I know fans who actually enjoy tailgating more than watching the game. Go figure.

I love walking through the parking lot before a football game, and seeing the elaborate setups
Bobby Flay (I think, it may have been emeril) did a show from the parking lot of Giants Stadium once, and the show consisted of fans preparing food. It was wild, and Giants Stadium is not really known for tailgating, like Lambeau Field, or just about any ACC/Big Ten/SEC school

Didn't have to wait four hours.
We just decided to get to the game early so we wouldn’t have to fight through too much traffic later. Seemed to be a good decision in retrospect; besides, they were showing some games on the jumbotron, and we got to take pictures of players warming. Really cool.

I have beento Texas Stadium three times. First, I was about 11 years old. My aunt lived in Dallas and when we visited, we took a tour of Texas Stadium. I have a picture of a very young Seanrude standing in front of Roger Staubach’s locker.
My sister mved to Allen TX about ten years ago, and she and my brother-in-law have twice gotten me tickets to games for my birthday. I had a blast both times. I have seen the Cowboys play in the Yale Bowl and Giants Stadium, the old Vet in Philly, the old Mile High in Denver, and the last game at RFK, and each game was great b/c going into hostile territory wearing your colors is always cool, but going to Texas Stadium and nothaving to worry about getting beaned in the head by a hot dog is so awesome

I agree, both Texas Stadium and visiting stadiums
are awesome experiences. My Cowboys games at visiting stadiums include three rivers (3 times), Heinz Field twice (reg and preseason), Silverdome in Pontiac, Giants Stadium twice and Clevelands Municipal Stadium.
However, the 5 games at Texas Stadium were the best.

well, half the time the Cowboys lost
but it was a great experience nonetheless, but you’re right, winning makes it a lot more fun.
