Dallas Cowboys news & notes (injury update)
The latest injury report is here. Montrae Holland and Bobby Carpenter are out, Alan Ball is doubtful and Marion Barber is questionable. Everybody else should be able to go.
Speaking of returning from injury, Pacman Jones shares his thoughts on his herniated disc.
In more injury-related news, Keith Davis just keeps rolling along. He was voted an award for playing through injury.
Fortunately for Davis, there have been way more "ups" this year, including yet another notch that went his way on Thursday when his teammates voted him for the annual Ed Block Courage Award, a league-wide honor given to one player from each team that displays the courage and toughness to return from physical hardships.
The guy has been shot twice, so what did you expect?

Tashard Choice is the darling of the Cowboys fan-base right now. We may owe some love to a former Cowboys coach, Chan Gailey. As a Georgia Tech guy, Gailey's tenure in Atlanta was nothing short of total frustration. But, he did prepare Choice for an NFL-offense, and now I can at least be happy about that. More love for Choice here.

Not only are we playing on the NFL Network Saturday night, but the channel is going all-Cowboys tomorrow. Check out the schedule here. In addition, the people over at the Nielsen ratings sent me an email showing that when the Cowboys play night games, everybody watches.

Wade Phillips won Coach of the Week and DeMarcus Ware won Defensive Player of the Week.
Even though Jason Garrett has been criticized by some this year and many Cowboys fans have switched to the "he's not ready" mode, Pat Kirwan has him ranked as the #4 assistant ready to be a head coach.

I agree with Kirwan regarding Garrett
He is ready to become our next HC as the offensive struggles this year were obviously related to all the injuries suffered on that side of the ball.
Romo, F Jones (IR), Braber, Adams, Kosier (IR), Holland, Hurd (IR), Austin, RW2, Witten were all injured this season and they all missed games except Witten, RW2 and Adams but they were less than 100% in many games.
When we get all our guys healthy, our offense will be unstoppable under Garrett.
In Romo we Trust

I am more concered with defense taking a step back. We all saw what is happening in San Diego..
Is there any way the Oil salesman, can sell Wade on becoming our DC?

Alot of San Diego’s defensive struggles have been because of injuries too though.
They had a top ten defense last year, it was this year when their #1 pass rusher went down that they went to crap.
Let Ware get hurt and it would kill Dallas too.

Did Buddy burn too many bridges?
What happened to the Ryans? I am amazed neither of them has got a shot, particularly the one in Baltimore – that defence has been strong for a decade. Perhaps they inherited their Dad’s charm….

Buddy was a major D-bag
I have little doubt that the entire family is being blackballed.

He may 4th rated but he aint ready.
He is just now starting to round into a good(not great) OC. His game plan for Pittsburgh game shows he still has much to learn. He should have come out conservative. Waited a little while for the intial emotional burst from the crowd to die down. Made Romo throw short dump offs or out of bounds and let our D earn their keep.

Off Subject...
But how can London Fletcher whine about making the Pro Bowl? Bradie James has better stats and is on a better team.

Do you care what Aikman thinks?
I don’t give a flying fart in space as his playing days are over and his broadcast days annoying, IMHO.
Dallas 17
Ravens 6

Good little article....

I have to wonder why it took so long for Dallas’s defense to start pressing.
I’m not a coach, but the boards have been talking about it for months. You’d have thought it would have been something easier to see.

They didn't press at all last year or cent years if my memory serves me correctly
and the first 10 games of this year. It’s frustrating when the corners are consistently playing 7-10 yards off the WR and the QB’s can eat us on short yardage all day.

I'm not excusing this
tardiness, however; Philips has explained it several times as feeling that his corners weren’t ready for it. Newman has been hurt off and on for all of last year and this year, makes it harder to press cover without a “shut down” corner.
First to six!!!

Yeah I saw that explanation too....
The thing I don’t get is that all of these corners were man to man corners in college.
I mean, not a biggie now, just seemed odd to me.

Will Tonights Closing Ceremonies be Televised?
If the Cowboys win I’ll be in the mood to watch all of it.

Didn't the corners change from depressing to ...
pressing with SoB taking over the defense?
