Sould Roy Williams be the #4 WR in Philly?
Since his acquisition Roy Williams has done little to show that he can contribute much to our offense, now, I am not saying he won't at some point (next year), but he has been little more than a decoy thus far. I think in the last few games teams have come to realize that they don't have to double cover him or even put their best cover guy on him; whether it is his planter fasciitis or whether it is something else he just does not pose a realist down field or any other kind threat. It is my opinion that Austin Miles should get the #2 spot with Crayton at #3. and if we should need a little more speed I say rotate Stanback into the 3 at times ( there is no doubt he is fast, he actually out ran Jones on his long TD run). Anyway, just think Miles would be a realistic option and not just the appearance of a threat.

Idk , I probably could have stated the case better
Basically, has he done anything to prove he should be the #2? Would someone else be more effective?
ok, I give up!
Why should R. Williams be the #2 WR? Can he get open down field better than Miles? Is he a better at getting open than Crayton? Basically, he has shown me nothing, and if he has a sore hoof, well I don’t think he can even help to draw coverage from T.O. The passes I have seen him catch, are little 10 yard outs that any receiver should get a little seperation on or were the defender has played off. Anyway, I’m not saying he isn’t good, just what good has he done?
From what I've seen
Roy Williams is open. Tony Romo doesn’t look his direction. I think after one training camp with all of our weapons, our offense will be explosive agian.
-1
Roy Williams is money, but the chemistry just isn’t there yet. way to early to pass judgment..

I like Austin a whole lot.
But he is not as good as Roy.
However, I do think Roy is overrated.

over rated by who ??....by you, the next guy , us , them ??...that is the biggest BS phrase ever..
the dude has talent……who’s overating him ?? not the scouts that projected his top 10 draft status, not the the pro bowl selection process comittee, not the many many highlight reels showing his acrobatic exploits…………that “over rated” garbage is just that…garbage……..and yes…he’s far superior to Crayton and Miles as far as talent goes…….NFL statistics show as much….

Overrated by the people who call him a top tier receiver.
He is at the top of the second tier.
And I never said Crayton or Austin were on his level. I said he was better.
He’s just not Andre Johnson, or either of those dudes in Arizona, or Steve Smith, or T.O., or Randy Moss, or even Calvin Johnson for that matter.
Still very, very, good, just not elite……yet.

he's not steve smith either
or Plaxico Burress (before he perforated his leg)
i would also put him behind Chad Johnson (until this year) and Driver.
jsut sw you already wrote steve smith.
being one of the top 20 WR’s makes you a number 1 WR, but i don think he is top 10
I think he is a #1 receiver,
but he s not yet elite. However he has been in Detroit all his career, so I am interested to see what he can do in Dallas over the next few years.

tough to call
At this point he has been stuck on a terrible team and hasn’t had the chance to build rapport with Romo.. I will reserve judgement..
I think he is 10% of league when it comes to WR.

And the true test of RW2's eliteness will be...
…a few years with a better QB.
No WR should have to go through NFL hell by playing for the Lions.
I feel bad for Calvin Johnson.

He can't run at his usual level
Austin has been getting more and more reps at the #2, with cause. I would not be at all surprised to see him take the lions share of snaps opposite T.O. He’s a legit deep threat right now. Roy is gimpy.
yes
I would love to see Crayton get his Wes Welker on.. Let him run the middle and catch 4 and 5 yard passes keep the blitzers on honest. He needs to be running in right behind the blitz.

blame Garrett for the lack of productivity...
he is by far the worst OC in the NFL

I don't know
the names, but how about the Cleveland OC, Oakland OC???
They've done studies, you know. 60% of the time it works, every time.
Detroit
Calvin Johnson most physically gifted wr in the league and he gets 4 targets?
"Protect the Romo, Save the Cowboys!!"
Gloryday, what other OC...
do you know that would take an excellent wide reciever like Roy Williams, and never use him?
How about this as a question for our offensive coordinator:
Why Tashard Choice now, and not earlier in the year (say, um, after Felix Jones’s injury)?
You would think that saving Barber would be the idea, but I don’t know if Garrett gets that.
How about this as a question for our offensive coordinator:
Did you watch the Giants beat the Panthers? Did you learn anything from it? Like maybe the value of a running game? Stop trying to win games by making playcalls for Romo to “consistently” try to go downfield for passes, and look for a conservative short passing game that includes the fullback, and setup the long pass to be used at the right time. 3 step drops and dual tight end formations, along with tailback passes to the tightend- pull out all the stops you idiot. It’s not “all” about the downfield pass. This time of the year the teams that run the ball effectively win.
Do you want me to ask Garrett more questions Glory? ok, one more.
Why against the Ravens, when you saw Choice being effective with a long run, did you go from a successful run play to a shotgun? Even if you were gonna pass, bring the QB up to the line of scrimmage and make the D “think” it could possibly be a run, and loosen them up. I bet you a pass completion would ensue!
Ok, I vented enuff (sorry guys)

I don't get it.
I think Jason Garrett is underperforming, but he is not the worst..
He needs to reel Romo in..
"Protect the Romo, Save the Cowboys!!"
romo
had like 2 seconds to throw on every down
they were going shotgun to give up some more time
but still he had to make 1 or 2 guys miss run around and try to chuck something up cuz he couldnt make a read
he was amazing in the 4th quarter but the d finally fell apart
i mean we beat the eagles with crayton and miles as the #2 and #3
but roy is a huge asset and he can make the hard catches
but i think crayton is a solid reciever, so is miles
both have proved they can make the plays, as long as crayton doesnt drop it he can help alot if romo looks his way
Superbowl or Bust?
Not true
He has lost a lot of his own confidence. He isn’t going through his reads, not looking off the safeties, not hitting open receivers deep and not putting enough zip on his throws.
Romo isn’t the guy he was when we played Green Bay in week 3.
Having said all of that, the o-line didn’t do a lot to make him comfy in the pocket last night.
"Well, we didn't block real good but we made up for it by not tackling."

The o-lines poor protection is the reason Romo is struggling
He doesnt have time to go through his reads (which is why he cant hit open receivers), doesnt have an open pocket to step into which is te reason for his lack of zip (and his back). Romo is the same guy as week 3, but our o-line has regressed.
by aussie_cowboy on Dec 21, 2008 7:53 PM CST up reply actions
hard to go through your reads
when a defender is running in your face every time you go back to pass.
In Romo we Trust
It wasn't EVERY time
Those of us without Romo colored glasses saw some plain old misses of wide open WR’s…

Crayton had a good game last night, I think
So far as I could tell. Made some really tough grabs for good yardage, and no drops.
i think he had 1 drop
but that might’ve been the giants game but he got rocked on the pass though
but if we utilize crayton and miles more like i’ve always been saying it opens up things for t.o. roy e. witten even marty b
i am hoping to see romo and the offense with holland helping protection and the defense rebound next week and win to get a playoff berth
Superbowl or Bust?
Well...
I agree with Terry here, as those routes require more time to develop.
My issue is Romo’s inability to throw the hard out or quick slant (he is too short!) or seam route when they are there for the taking.
Teams won’t stop blitzing him until HE makes them pay. And BTW, he is calling a “kill” and running our backs right into the teeth of their defense.
