Williams unhappy with Offensive role
What do you guys think? I've said this before, but I've seen Roy Williams open. Currently, he doesn't fit in Romo's progressions. He looks Witten > TO > then check down to RB. Roy has been open, but Romo or Garrett do not feel comfortable with him. I think Williams is still a very good player, and could be even better if were to get involged with this offense. Here is the article:
A Dallas Cowboys wide receiver says he's frustrated by his involvement in the offense -- and it's not Terrell Owens.
Nearly a month ago, Owens and fellow receivers Patrick Crayton and Roy E. Williams met separately with offensive coordinator Jason Garrett to express their concerns about the team's offense.
Since then, Crayton and Owens have said they've seen some positive results in the way the offense is running. Williams, however, has been frustrated as the Cowboys have struggled, and admitted as much as Dallas readied for its win-or-go-home game Sunday against the Philadelphia Eagles. Williams, who has been dealing with a foot injury, has 17 receptions for 194 yards and one touchdown since the Cowboys dealt their first-round, third-round and sixth-round picks to the Detroit Lions to acquire him. And after trying to dismiss questions about his limited production since coming to Dallas, in a trade that was seen as a way for the Cowboys to open up the offense and give quarterback Tony Romo a deep-ball threat, Williams opened up. "I know I am a player in this league," Williams said, according to Dallas-Fort Worth area media reports. "My thing is, if you brought me in half the season, you obviously know what I am capable of doing. You wouldn't have spent what you did to get a person. You know what I can do. I know what I can do. I can tell you what I can't do. I'm just waiting." Owens stuck up for Williams, saying his teammate has legitimate reasons to be frustrated."If you bring a guy over here and you pay him that much money, you want [him] to be involved," Owens said, according to The (Fort Worth) Star-Telegram. "He has a lot of talent. Otherwise, he wouldn't be here. I'm not saying that in a negative way. I'm saying that because I know he can help the team. Once we figure out a way we can get him more involved and he can help this offense, the better off we'll be."

this is what happens when you have too many weapons
there will be players that feel underused and left out in the gameplan, however, there are just so many balls to go around.
Quite frankly with all the attacking defenses Romo has had to face recently, theres no way he can go through 3 or 4 reads, most of the time he only has time for 1 or 2 before he checks down.
Furthermore, RW hasn’t been healthy with his foot injury and hasn’t been getting the separation he needs to get open.

from what I've seen
he doesn’t get very good separation from CBs covering him which I think is in large part to his foot problem, although I never thought he was the greatest route runner even when healthy.

He doesn't need a great deal of separation
He uses his size so well and makes acrobatic catches in traffic. Romo just needs to trust him to make the play

haven't seen him play much
either before or now with the Boys
is he open in the sense of separation or is he open in the sense that he’s big/strong and gonna out jump/out muscle the CB for the ball?
either way, i think he’s going to have to wait patiently and hope that we (read: JG) figure things out sooner rather than later. at least by next year he should be more fully integrated

in the sense he's big and strong and out muscle for the ball
and the problem is Romo isn’t used to having a receiver like that so he has to get used to throwing to a guy like RW even when it looks like he’s covered.

at least T.O. can get separation
I haven’t seen that with RW yet.
BTW, Boyz, looks like your boy Garrett will be the OC next year unless another team hires him as HC. Jerry has just announced, the coaching staff is in place!

more typical BS spin by Jerry
You really cant believe what Jerry says, the Money quote from Jerry
I’m just saying, as I stand right here. Look, can y’all not understand statements?
As he stands right now, that’s the key Terry, that could all change after Sunday’s game. Nowhere did Jerry say this coaching staff will be back in 2009….

well, he'll sure look like a lair if he fires Wade
because he was asked specifically if he would still feel that way if the team lost on Sunday and he said of course.
We’ll see, but I have to believe Jerry isn’t going to fire Wade.

I would hope
he would not fire Wade. I like our new look Defense; minus the two long Ravens’ runs ofcourse. Offense on the other hand….

Lets see how TO acts when Romo
Takes 3 or 4 of TO balls and throws them to Roy……….Roy needs to shut up and just catch the balls that are thrown to him…….Romo needs to throw the ball to whoever is open and the hell with how many times i need to throw in TO direction or how many Balls I get to Witten…….Its playoffs or Bust right now, not a time to worry about someones feelings……..
Don’t beleive what Jerry is saying about his coaching staff until the season is over……why cause another distraction by not backing you coaching staff two days before the biggest game of the year……Jerry said it right….these our my guys i decided to go to war with so these are my coaches………when the war is over ask him the question again…..

Didn't Wade say basically the same thing?
I thought in his press conference earlier this week, Wade said that they wanted to get Roy Williams involved more. I love how the media is flipping out because these guys parroted their head coach.

In last week’s game...
There was a 3rd down situation when Roy was clapping his hands at the line of scrimmage before the ball was snapped. He was trying to get Romo’s attention. Roy had one on one coverage with plenty of room to release. Romo never even looked his way the entire time. The sooner they can get Roy involved in the offense, the sooner it will open up everything for everyone else.
For those of who think you can have too many playmakers… Take a look at how well Welker and Moss play together and how the both get plenty of touches. There is no reason Dallas cannot do the same. If anything I’d like to see less Patrick Crayton and more RW11.

Pats don't have a great TE like Cowboys
Of course you need 2 great receiving threats to make an offense dynamic, we have T.O. and Witten and Austin and Crayton were great complimentary options.
Now when you throw in another great receiving option like RW, you have to distribute the ball to 3 receivers and guys like Crayton and Austin, who are very good in their own right, get ignored. IMO, too many options.

The Pats
also have Kevin Faulk who gets a large number of passes thrown his way as well.
Where do you get your math from? Is it some automatic equation of the universe that says only an ex-number of players of deemed worthiness may be permitted to touch the ball on any given team? Go back and look at the Chargers of the 80’s and see how many different players used to touch the ball regularly in their offense. Or how about the Rams earlier this decade?
Based on your logic it is better to have less talented players on the team. Perhaps you feel the superior coaching the Cowboys get will make the difference.
When you run a plain old burp and fart style offense like Garrett does it’s hard to imagine the different ways these players can be used. Good coordinators find a way to exploit mismatches. Garrett calls plays that force feeds the ball to a select few.

Dallas needs to decide
If Roy Williams is healthy enough to start, if so he needs to get the ball more if not, time to throw Miles back in there. He did a great job in the Philly game, his blend of speed and quickness helps him create separation. We should go 3 wide TO, Roy on one side, and Miles Austin on the other.

I think Austin looks back to the way he was before the knee injury. If Romo puts a little less on that pass to Austin last week, he had a sure TD.

Romo is treating him like TO
TO requires separation to be trusted as a receiver. RW does not. Romo will learn that RW is open in situations that TO would not be. When he does he’ll learn he can throw the ball to RW and RW’s great hands and body control will deliver spectacular catches. Unfortunately its going to take the offseason workouts for that relationship to develop. We’re getting some limited benefit from RW this year (most notably the TD against the Bucs) but the payoff will begin next year. This year he’s more of a decoy by way of respect to help open up TO.

Get rid of Garrett and cut TO
and Roy will emerge as the #1 threat, keep Garrett and TO and I think he will be limited. Keep Garrett and lose TO, I think he is more limited, Keep TO and lose Garrett and I think he is probably and overpaid #2
