Around SBN: Why Hockey Fans Should Root For Devils Vs. Kings

Boy did Wade have this team ready to play… Wow!!!

As I knew was the case when Jerry first hired him; Wade Phillips always has and ALWAYS will lose in the biggest games when they really count.  Already 0-4 as a head coach in the playoffs, in my mind he is on his way to 0-5.

If he is truly going to be back next year then you can forget about ANY dreams of going to the Super Bowl 44 either.

There are better minds and fresh perspectives out there like Spagnola.  And please spare the 3/4 argument because this 3/4 D they have now does not impress me at all

Mark my words, "THE DALLAS COWBOYS WILL NEVER WIN THE SUPER BOWL WITH WADE PHILLIPS.  EVER."

I agree completely.

And until he shows me otherwise, I feel the same way about Tony Romo.

Hater. Why don't you go root for the Eagles then or are you a Giants fan?

Would you rather have Eli or McNabb? Who are we going to replace him with? You saw what Brad Johnson did. Tony is a special player with “magic” who “has fun out there.”

Just thought I’d get it in before anyone else. I don’t need to know what other car I want to purchase just because I know the transmission in my Ford is broke.

by Parl on Dec 28, 2008 5:58 PM CST up reply actions

Ya, Tony's having fun out there,,,isn't that what it's all about?

It’s sure not about ball security or winning or anything stupid like that is it? Not that all the losses are his fault, but he didn’t help much in alot of them either.

by bad knees on Dec 28, 2008 6:05 PM CST up reply actions

yeah, Romo had all day to throw

Our OL just played outstanding, has to be the qbs fault when we lose

Exactly Terry.

I say we wait and see who wins the BCS national championship, and draft their WHOLE OLine.

We need a solid O line first, and after that, we need a solid O line.

too freakin late for that guys...

All these clowns are locked up for a long time……

Our line is not bad…it’s inconsitant because of injury to the LG and IMO, Hudson Houck…He just sucks…we need a new OL coach..

by Boyzfan94 on Dec 28, 2008 11:41 PM CST up reply actions

qbs don't win games, teams do

so what you’re really saying is that you’d rather root for the Giants.

BTW, Eli’s team wins big games because his OL blocks for him, his WRs get open and his defense is good.

i'd rather have a qb

who makes very few mistakes

than a qb who frequently makes dumb decisions and bad mistakes.

by Beasticon on Dec 28, 2008 8:34 PM CST up reply actions

every qb makes mistakes

its part of playing the position…if a qb is afraid to make mistakes, he’s not going to make plays either and if your qb isn’t making plays, your team isn’t going anywhere.

Its a fine line and thats just the deal.

by Terry on Dec 28, 2008 8:43 PM CST up reply actions

is our team going anywhere????

oh yeah, home… Romo makes way too many mistakes and poor decisions for my liking. He needs to get that fixed and fixed in a hurry…. Patience is wearing thin with him in this organization…The choker label will be his label soon if he doesn’t get it going….

Man , u guys act like your sleeping with Romo!

Didn’t say it was all his fault, but when your running away from a guy you may want to make an effort to hang on to the ball. Trying to make a play is understandable, but the amont of times this guy just does stuoid shit is mind boggling.

by bad knees on Dec 28, 2008 6:23 PM CST reply actions

Well maybe if he had a decent line in front of him

He wouldnt have to be running away from guys ten times a quarter.

in december and January

this team is 5-10 and Romo has 20 INT’s 12 td’s…

by Deke on Dec 28, 2008 6:40 PM CST up reply actions

and it can be traced to the OL

falling apart late in the year.

Terry, you're the one that always wants to tell me

Romo makes the Oline better…… but now you change your tune when he has a bad game..

I dont put this game all on his shoulders, but I don’t want to hear anymore of this garbage that’ he’s an elite Qb or the jedi master or Gunslinger, because as i’ve said all year, he’s one step above average and has alot to learn about the posiiton. This team isn’t winning anything with the way this Oline played this year and with tony turning the ball over numerous times in games and with his poor decision making week after week, period…

by Deke on Dec 28, 2008 8:01 PM CST up reply actions

he does make the OL better

but that doesn’t mean he doesn’t need protection….it was horrible today.

He is an elite qb, like I said Brady nor Manning wouldn’t have fared any better today.

In Romo we Trust

by Terry on Dec 28, 2008 8:10 PM CST up reply actions

It's never Romo's fault. Don't you know Deke?

But when he plays well, he’s masking how bad the O-line is and when he plays poorly, it’s because the O-line is that bad. Apparently, every other QB in the NFL has a stellar O-line since you can’ t count on them for 2 INTs and 2 Fumbles in important games.

by Parl on Dec 28, 2008 7:04 PM CST up reply actions

yeah, thats why he's a HOFer and SB champ

favre has been over rated his whole career

and please don’t compare romo to favre, they aren’t even in the same league.

favre is known for being a clutch performer
romo is known for being a choker

get off romo’s nuts already

His turnover total, his QB rating, and anything negative.

its hard to read a blog

by such a blatant nut rider who is completely oblivious to what romo actually is

by Beasticon on Dec 28, 2008 11:17 PM CST up reply actions

Yes.

And for the records, yes, Favre has been overrated his whole career. If you’ll check career stats, you’ll see there’s little difference between Warner and Favre, yet Favre is considered an all time great. There’s also no doubt that Favre has been pretty bad the last couple years.

by Parl on Dec 29, 2008 10:57 AM CST up reply actions

I'm wrong?

Get the taste of Romo’s nuts out of your mouth.

The dude chokes, plain and simple. Until he does ANYTHING in a meaningful game, maybe he can start to earn a little credibility.

He is no where near Favre. Favre is a leader and Favre doesn’t shy away from the big stage. The only similarities I see between the two are that both play wreck less at times. Favre can make up for his mistakes and doesn’t make them in huge situations usually, but Romo just collapses under any pressure situations.

by Beasticon on Dec 28, 2008 11:20 PM CST up reply actions

and please don’t compare romo to favre, they aren’t even in the same league

that is so true….

forget it Terry…just admitt your boy screwed the pooch too much this season and cost us some games…

by Boyzfan94 on Dec 28, 2008 11:45 PM CST up reply actions

yeah, I'm just a hater I guess

hater watching this team underachieve year in and year out

by Deke on Dec 28, 2008 8:03 PM CST up reply actions

They both fall apart...

and Romo is just as much to blame as the line…sometimes he has a good pocket and just throws to phantom receivers, can’t complete the deep ball, has huge ball security issues, etc. etc.

Look, I know the line has been god awful, but you can’t put all the problems on the line. Romo has a lot of potential, but he needs to make a TON of improvement before he’s a championship level QB.

I have noticed a new resurgence in Cowboy hating in 2007, which can only mean one thing- We're back.

by nspirals on Dec 28, 2008 7:38 PM CST reply actions

Romo had mistakes

but it wasn’t his fault for the loss. Its a team loss. As for Eli, he doesn’t win games, he’s managing games in NY with a solid run game and a good defense. I’ll take Romo…he’s still got some developing to do with regards to maturation and ball protection but he’s going to be a great one and will win the big one some day soon.

by Kansas Cowboy on Dec 28, 2008 8:20 PM CST reply actions

Romo played poorly...

But I’m not sure he is in the right kind of offense.

The play calling needs to look more like the New Orleans play calling. They need to vary his drops, run different route trees for the WR’s and get some speed on the outside.

Seriously, I have been one of romo’s detractors lately, and he is the WORST QB IN THE NFL when it comes to ball security, but he had no pocket to throw from today or against Baltimore and even Brady and Manning would have looked awful in that situation.

I know Phillips is the wrong guy, but I am thinking tthe original post is a bit off of the mark. I think Dallas wont win a Super Bowl as long as Jerry owns them.

BTW, this team destroyed me this year, but Jerry won’t get a penny of my money for tickets or jerseys or squat until he brings in a GM and lets them hire the right people to run the football team.

Dallas is now the New York Yankees. They are the most overpaid, weak bunch of wusses in the NFL. And they are a disgrace to the great legacy of this storied franchise.

Ding... Ding... Ding...

We have a winner.

The good news is that when his back is against the wall Jerry tends to do the right thing. It’s when the team starts having success that he starts up with all the meddling.

And great call on the offense. The kinds of weapons that this team has should never be used in such a vanilla way.

40 starts. 40.

Give Romo some time, and a running game. And some protection. And someone on offense with some heart other than T.O.

Cris Carter....you're dead to me.

by Carl Shelton (GloryDayz88) on Dec 29, 2008 7:03 AM CST reply actions

This might be the worst offense line I’ve ever seen.

Which doesn’t make any sense since some of these guys are (or were) actually quite good. Bit for 4 straight weeks now I’ve seen guys coming free at Romo at the snap of the ball. Think about that. He hasn’t even had one second to throw the ball over these past four games.

You can load this team up with all of the best skill players in the world but they are never going to win if they cannot dominate up front. This game always has and always will be won on the line of scrimmage.

by gee-roj on Dec 29, 2008 8:25 AM CST reply actions

Losing TWO left guards is a bit strange...

and not having your super stud blocking back in there (Barber) during meaningful games just exacerbated things.

I think the Houck hiring was a Jerry thing.

He has to stop hiring position coaches. It hasn’t worked for him, yet he continues.

Strange.
