Eli Manning clowns Tony Romo during conference call
Just in case you weren't sure if any more dirt could be placed on the grave:
"I am just going to have a pretty relaxing week up here," said Manning, who quarterbacked the Giants to the NFC's top seed and home-field advantage throughout the playoffs. "No plans to travel or do anything. My plans to Cabo fell through, so I am going to sit here. That is a joke, by the way."
Our next playoff win can not come soon enough.

Amen
The best thing about the beatdown yesterday is there is nowhere to hide and no denial that can now take place. The issues are real and the only way they, and comments like Eli’s, are going away is if we take these problems on head-on.

Eli wouldn't know funny if it smacked him in the face
It must be nice to be the league’s #1 bus driver and go to the Pro Bowl. POS.

Ha ha
…yeah, it’s true. Little Manning got his ring courtesy of the Gints’ D line.

You're right...
…just ask MeShawn. He knows he can go to that well whenever he wants and no one can take it away from him.

Meh
No big deal. Eli was garbage until his Super Bowl win, now he’s the ‘greatest.’ It’s all gravy.
They've done studies, you know. 60% of the time it works, every time.
The Giants went 1-3 in December
…and the one win came from a missed Carolina FG, and yet not a peep about the “December Meltdown” in the NY media. Nope — the Giants are GREAT and are in GREAT shape. What a joke.

it's
the media …. what do you expect? That’s what they want you to do … get angry about it.
and if the Giants lose, you’ll hear the Plaxico excuses ….. it’s how the media works.

Oh yeah...
…no question about it. The hypocrisy is ridiculous. But it’s all good, I just hope we learn from our own mistakes and can shove it down their smug throats next year.

yup
that’s all we can hope for … and 11-5 year and a nice playoff run. Let’s hope.

If we handle things correctly in the offseason I think next year could look something like what this year was supposed to be.

December
The reason nobody’s talking about it is that it’s not really much of a factor right now. Here’s why:
The Giants ended their season by playing TEN STRAIGHT GAMES against playoff contenders. They went 7-3, among their wins were the cream of the NFL: PIT, BAL, CAR, they also crushed Arizona, Dallas, etc…
They lost 2 games against division rivals (resulting in splits) because they were missing Jacobs AND Burress and several other players were banged up, Tuck played the Cowgirls with the Flu. Burress is replaceable, but Jacobs is the catalyst for the entire offense. That’s why they didn’t score against the Eggs and Cowgirls. And sadly, they just made no effort to win the Vikings game. If that was a must-win playoff game, they would have started everyone and won the game, I’d say, about 41-10.
In between all that, they made a full-strength effort one time. And it beat the 3rd-best team in the NFL.
You play to win the game!

No doubt
…or we could be a joke like the Packers, or have fallen into oblivion like Seattle this year.

Definitely...
…but, of course, we’re the “biggest chokers ever” since we’re the hated Cowboys. Yawn.

w/e
he’s in the playoffs, they’re the #1 seed
he may be a bus driver but he did what he was supposed to do
i doubt it was a joke directly at tony
it was more of a joke to the media and how they blow everything out of proportion
i mean if anything we deserve the jokes
atleast until next year (i hope)
Superbowl or Bust?
Eli played well last year
…I have to give it to him.
Eli’s just messing around, no doubt. Peyton’s clearly the real trash talker in that family.
by PaulFVillarreal on Dec 29, 2008 6:10 PM CST up reply actions
Really?
Throwing into triple coverage and having Tyree come up with a super human catch to bail him out is playing well?
He didn’t play well, he just didn’t lose it for them.
Bus driver.
perfect pass

WOW!!!
And how many times do you think they will face each other in the playoffs?

Not many more unless Tony gets better in December and January.

What Was Eli's Record This December?
1-3, close to 0-4 if not for a FG miss by Kasay.
This team slump as a whole this December from Jerry down to Jurazek.
~Texas Massacre 08~
Their playoff spot was locked in.
They won the only game that they needed to win and secured home field throughout. Is that the same mistake that the Cowboys made last year? Could be, but unlike the Cowboys, they know that they can turn it on and get it done in the playoffs.
As soon as the Cowboys get it done once, like the Giants did, the Colts did, Brett Favre did, etc., they will get the same benefit of the doubt.

Eli Takes a Well Deserved Shot
I’m sure Eli derived plenty of satisfaction watching Romo and the Cowboys implode Sunday, and deservedly so. He is the quarterback of the Super Bowl Champions, and all he has heard since March is Romo this, Dallas that – nothing like having the chance to rub a little well-deserved salt in fresh wounds!
Eli’s comment about Cabo appears to have rubbed some (probably most) on this blog the wrong way. Just one problem with that position: Eli is right. That trip to Cabo last season told me everything I needed to know about Tony Romo. That trip told me that Tony Romo is more interested in being a celebrity than being a successful quarterback. This pesky thing about being the quarterback for America’s Team is simply a means to the end – a Passport to Popularity. That trip to Cabo told me that Tony Romo is completely void of any Leadership ability or qualities. Only the most blind of fans can’t see that Romo’s complete lack of leadership was an enormous problem this season. Eli Manning has more leadership in his little finger than Romo has in his entire body.
You will note Eli is staying put during his bye week. Bloggers here call Eli a bus driver and point to Romo’s superior quarterback rating, his touchdowns, his natural talent and whatever else that can drum up in an attempt to prop Romo up. Yep, Romo has more physical talent than Eli and he plays a more entertaining game of football than Eli. But here is the FOOTBALL reality of the situation: Eli Manning is a Winner, he is a Leader and he is committed to being the best possible quarterback he can be within his limitations. Tony Romo is a Choker, he is the complete absence of Leadership and he is more interested in being a celebrity than being the best quarterback he can be. I’ll take Eli Manning over Tony Romo every day of the week and twice on Sundays.
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: Tony Romo is Fools Gold. I got suckered in again this season, even after the Cabo fiasco. I so wanted Romo to be that Super Bowl quarterback, the guy who would lead us out of the dessert to the Promised Land. Well, not anymore. The last time I was fooled was the Pittsburgh game. After that game I vowed to never buy Fools Gold again. The only way I’m back on the Romo bandwagon is if he leads us to a Super Bowl. As I’ve stated on this blog many times over the months, the odds of that happening are slim indeed. If he does, order me up second helpings of crow.

romo's not interested in being a celebrity
he’s the exact opposite
he’s respectful to the media and everyone else and is a down to earth guy
he has leadership, u just dont see it
its not only him thats been faltering lately, it’s the entire team
look, im not gonna sit here and defend romo, i like him i think he is and will be our franchise qb but yea he has alot of things to improve on and hopefully the coaches will aid him and improve themselves
romo takes trips and acts carefree because he just is
he’s just a regular guy with a huge paycheck
he understands what it means to be a cowboys qb now, i think he learned that after the trip
…the trip’s not the reason he’s ‘fools gold’, our entire team has probels..tnew was right we need accountability we need the ‘we deserve to win’ notion to go away because we actually have to play and beat the other team to do that
Superbowl or Bust?
nice post there
howver, if dallas can get an o line and a dominate run game like eli has and what troy had here he be a winner,,,he is very talented but needs more help along that o line…great wr and te help but it comes down to protection and ur running game and this dallas team does not come close to what eli has up in new york
Sir, I could KISS you for this blog post.
I hate the +1 trend, but this is a well-deserved +10000000000000. It gets to where I can barely read the comments on this blog at times because of the way Romo is blindly defended.
nice assessment Louie..I totally agree with it, and his lack of leadership..but i'll give Romo another year before I throw in the towel

I'd make a comment on this...
but I just promised Grizz I wouldn’t use that kind of language around here anymore. To me it shows that Eli… has no class.
Please. It was a joke.
It’s not like he insulted Romo’s family or girlfriend, or even his ability.
And we all go nuts when the media blows TO’s comments out of proportion…
by Baked Potato Soup on Dec 30, 2008 7:56 AM CST up reply actions
excuse me? WHAT!
I have a very good sense of humor, that wasn’t funny to me…what are the the comedy police. Just because I’m sick to NO &%^# end of everyone taking shots at Romo I hav no sense of humor…Pardon me Grizz I have to say this to this guy…screw you.
by SmittyCityMo on Dec 30, 2008 2:21 PM CST up reply actions
I didn't hear the interview
But I’ll bet that he was taking a poke at the media more than anything. I’ll bet even Giants players realize what a joke that was making a big deal about Cabo.
no class ??...It was funny...plain and simple...great media fodder...from a championship QB no less...he earned the right to make such comments...
The Cowboys were a joke this year, and we need to suck up every zinger thrown our way..
