It's the ESPN experts
That worry me when they unanimously pick us to win. It’s the most powerful hex known to man. When their filthy black souls are in unison, only then can the Dark Lord rise and turn off the cable to God’s TV, thus preventing Him from enjoying a brewski and watching His favorite team — the Cowboys.
Known fact, really.

NICE
It makes sense…
I think the differnce between our offense and their offense is much larger, then difference between our defense and their defense.
The great equalizer will be the weather, though.. I got us by 3, if it was a neutral field, I got us by 6.

Yeh, but they never eat that crow
They rarely ever acknowledge their picks. Robert Smith picked against Tech every week this season on CFB live until he finally got one right. I think it’s funny how even the great Jimmy Johnson and Bill Cowher can’t beat those blowhards on their own TV shows when picking games.

This week on Showtime's Inside the NFL
all 4 participants – Collingsworth, Simms, Sapp and James Brown picked the Steelers, so I’m feeling good about that. It’s when everyone jumps on the Boys wagon, I get worried.
Interestingly, the following exchange took place at the end of the Cowboy highlights as the O came off the field:
D Ware: ‘Way to go #9! I’m sure glad I don’t have to chase YOUR a** all over the field.’
T Romo: (Pause) ‘I am too.’
Delivered with that classic Romo deadpan. I love it.

Yes, yes you are.
As tempting (and as easy it would appear to be) as it is to talk smack on this blog I will stay with the game breakdowns.
Coaching: Bum’s Son vs. Tomlin. One cannot motivate fat people towards a buffet line and the other made the playoffs following a Pittsburgh icon. Tomlin impressed me in his first year and has made great strides in his player and time management in his second. Edge…..Tomlin (duh)
I will not even get into assistant coaching as LaBeau vs. anyone is a mismatch.
Qb: Ben is a man’s man. His toughness and fearlessness in legendary. Romo is very good as well. Not as tough (imo) but hard to hit and will keep a play alive. Now I won’t even get into the fact he hasn’t won a single playoff game……..HEHE. All thing considered …..a push.
O line: Both have had protection issues. The Steeler’s line has played quite a bit better lately due to addition by subtraction. Simmons has not been the dominating force the Steelers drafted since his diabetes diagnosis. (Not a knock on Simmons, as my son is a type 1 diabetic as well.) Stapleton has been more consistent and Starks has played adequate at LT. The Boys have had similar issues and have been hit with several holding calls per game. For me that is the deciding factor as Harrison gets held on every play and it is rarely called. If the refs have their pre-game report and pay attention, several holding calls will occur. (Not that I’m holding my breath, as the refs seem to screw the Steelers many times per season!) Edge…Steelers (only based on the anticipated holding calls)
Rbs: MB3 is one bad ass su’m bitch…..and I mean that with all sincerity. I am very impressed with his ability to bulldoze (while not being Bus or Jacobs sized) and his nifty feet. That being said, the odds of him being full strength for this game are remote. With the Boy’s top backup out, (we feel ya, as Mendanhall is on IR as well) I have to give the nod to the Steelers. FWP, Moore and Russell have been playing well and are relatively healthy for this time of the year. Edge….Steelers
WR and TEs: TO, Craten (sp) and Witten are good. Ward, Holmes and Miller are good. My tie breaker here is two fold. One team is used to harsh, outdoor conditions. One team has a nut case for a WR that will berate his QB, OC, HC and his Mother if he doesn’t get the ball. Look for sideline footage of the 2004 Eagles/Steelers game for confirmation of that! Edge……Steelers
DL: Sorry guys, but NO ONE has a better line for the 3-4 defense than the Steelers. Yours has gotten better with the acquisition of Tank Johnson but is still lacking. Hampton is THE prototypical NT. Smith is the best DE you could ever have in this system. Kiesel is active and hard working…..and out of this game. The Steeler’s also have a deep set of DL subs to keep the starters fresh. Edge…..Steelers.
LB’s: Please. You have a one legged Ware and a hard nosed midget from Texas Tech. Harrison (DPOTY) Woodley(Size, speed, rush and coverage ability) Farrior (makes the calls and leads the team in tackles…..again) Foote (what he lacks in pure athleticism, he makes up for in instincts and heart). And we have Timmons to come in on passing downs to both rush or cover! Edge…..Steelers.
DBs: Newman is very good. Pacman is overrated. Your safeties suck. Taylor is very good but cannot catch. McFadden has played very well but is coming off of an injury. I believe the steelers have better depth at corner and FAR better safety play. Troy Polamalu goes without saying and just youtube Clarks hit of Welker if you doubt his ability.
Edge ……Steelers.
Special teams: Your punter is better…..period. Can’t even name him but he has to be better. Now kicker…..not so much. Jeff Reed is money. And if you kicker isn’t named Reed and your at Hines Field your screwed if you want to kick a field goal beyond 35 yrds. Steeler’s coverage teams have played quite well this year….for a change.
Edge….Steelers. This is based mainly on the home field.
Synopsis. This will be a man’s game, and the Steelers are the man team. No one on the Steelers team gets manicures or thinks he is above the team. Between toughness, will and weather this really is not a contest.

Football
Yes, regarding football the Steelers are better. Tougher, more disciplined, better coached, more physical and used to playing in the elements.
Now, if we want to compare bling, ho’s, convictions, suicide attempts, press releases, drama, cost of personal seat lic., letters from the Commish, lack of a playoff win in 12 years, owners face lift (ol yeller teeth now looks like Skelator), owners meddling in football operations and puppet coaches…….then yes, YOU ARE THE CHAMPS!

hey burgernazi
if you want to have an honest conversation about the game, this is what the blog is here for… but whats the point in not really paying attention to the other team leading to a misguided sense of what this games gonna be… I dont know where to start with the inacuarcies… The O-Line – Rothlesberger is responsible for half of the sacks on him.. Well maybe if you had a jedi that feels pressure and moves OUT OF THE WAY.. the sack totals would be less… Our punter McBriar is on IR for 4 weeks now (read up a little).. Your secondary is average at best (besides Polamalu, whose an absolute beast)… Your view on our wide receivers is obviously from you watching BSPN.. If you havent noticed, we’ve been on fire for the past couple weeks.. and who exactly is gonna cover TO or RWII??
If I were to come over to your blog, I would at least read up on the team i was completely wrong about… Settle it on the field and we will talk on monday

Wow
The most you can come up with is I do not know your punters name? Outstanding. I don’t care who your punter is and already conceded that he is better. Our punting game started sucking once our stud punter (an oxymoron, but he walked on to college as a LB and de-cleated people as a punter!) went on IR in camp. R. Williams is such a valuable commodity that DETROIT let him go……..and Skelator over paid for him! TO is a crybaby as pointed out the last time we spanked him. Who will cover him? HHHMMMMMMM, maybe Ike Taylor, who has covered Moss, Chambers and Ocho Cinco and the like all year. McFadden has played very well this year with no reputation to inflate him. Pacman has played poorly with his rep. covering up his inability to the ignorant fan. Sorry, this is a man’s game and your coddled, under coached, overpaid group of press mongers will get their ass handed to them Sunday Dec. 7th, 2008. The Steelers are playing the HARDEST SCHEDULE IN THE HISTORY OF THE LEAGUE and are ahead of “America’s Bandwagon”. We have had more injuries as well. OK then
You can’t possibly have the hardest schedule in the history of the league if you play the Browns and Bengals twice each. Also, as far as injuries go, I think its debatable who has had more injuries this year, but I also realize you didn’t come here for any kind of actual debate. If I’m not mistaken, you came here only to “rattle our cage”. Very mature.

I can't stop laughing at this one!
Hardest schedule in the history of the league?? Give me a freakin break! Every year the Stealers can count on at least 5 or 6 easy victories coming out of the AFC North. The NFC East has produced 11 Super Bowl champions, the AFC North 6. The NFC East has participated in 20 Super Bowls, the AFC North has only been in 9. Not only do the Stealers have a much easier path to the playoffs but they also have the market cornered on paying off the refs. Do you want proof of that? The Stealers are the only team in Super Bowl history to play an entire game without one penalty be called on them and they also are the only team to be outgained in yards and first downs to win a Super Bowl. I can’t remember a SB in which the Stealers won without the help of the refs. If you were old enough to watch the 2 stolen SB victories, against the Cowboys, of the 70’s, that the Stealers produced, you would have witnessed the horrific calls that went against the Cowboys that kept them from winning those games. Anyway, Stealers fans should wake up everyday and thank god that they play in the probably the easiest division ever in history of the NFL and that they don’t have to play NFC East teams 6 times a year. Could it be that you think the AFC North has the hardest schedule ever in the history of the league because they have to play the NFC East 4 times this year???? Remember, the Stealers are 1-2 against the NFC east this year and that the NFC east is 7-3-1 against the AFC north so far. Anyway, good luck on Sunday and I’m sure, with help from the refs, your team will come out on top.

what a bunch of whiney nonsense from vingman
If you watched Steelers games this year you would know the refs haven’t been helping us at all. The Steelers have racked up about $100,000 in fines so far. We’ve had touchdowns taken off the board for no reason. The refs actually apologized for jobbing us at the end of our playoff loss last year! (yes we lost that game on our own with many blown opportunities, but still…)
And if you look at their schedule you would see that, based on last years results, they have the hardest schedule in in the NFL in decades. You cannot have more teams from last years playoffs on your schedule than the Steelers have. It’s impossible. Only Tampa, Green Bay and Seattle played in January and aren’t on the Steelers schedule this year. Now that’s on paper using last year as the criteria. Of course since last year brady and merriman are out and other factors have been in play. But on paper it’s the hardest. It was widely reported, so regardless of your homerism, that’s the facts.
You are correct that the NFC East leads the league in SB appearances and victories. Eleven Superbowl loses though? Five for the boys, right? No wonder you’re bitter.

Actually, their record is 5-3 in the Super Bowl. What's one more ignorant Steelers fan though?
And those 3 Super Bowl losses came 30 years ago whereas the Steelers have managed to lose 4 AFC Title games on their own homefield in the past 15 years. Now I can see where you all have this massive inferiority complex and are all so concerned with how much time is devoted to the Steelers on Sportscenter. I guess if the honchoes at BSPN don’t devote enough time to the Steelers, you all panic that BSPN has some inside information or hunch about another Steelers home playoff chokejob on the horizon.
I took the time to visit the Steelers blog and while there are a few class acts there, for the most part they seem to be a pretty ignorant lot. The few visitors to this blog definitely haven’t represented themselves well; there was even the one little idiot who claims to be a diehard yet despite the Steelers having played the Cowboys in a thriller during the Steelers’ ’04 15-1 season was so ignorant he had to blindly guess that Brad Johnson was actually the Cowboys QB in that game. I mean at least I could name you who was the primary Steelers starting QB for every season dating back to the Cowher era.
As for the hardest schedule, you hit the most important part right on the head of the nail: based on last year’s records. As it stands now, the combined records of the Cowboys and Steelers opponents will be virtually the same once the season ends. In fact, depending on how the Eagles finish, the Cowboys would’ve played 10 games against opponents with winning records this season while the Steelers will end up playing 9 games against teams with winning records.

you're right, I was ignorant of how many superbowls the Cowboys lost
because only two of them matter to me. I should have looked it up though before I posted.
Anyway, I have some respect for this team and it will be a tough game tomorrow. These two teams have many interesting parallels
Both our first round draft pick tailbacks are out for the season,
both our Ds have a linebacker in the top 2 in sacks,
both got beat by the reigning champs,
both hate the eagles
both need a win to stay in the playoff hunt,
both were my preseason SB picks
The interesting part of all the hate is the different perspectives we have. I love it. Talking Shmack is the fun part. It will be even more fun on Monday.

Well boys and girls
It was fun. Your D played very well and I commend them for that. Other than that it went down the road I laid out. Was it just me or was there a Cowboy player injured/ bell rung on every other play? I do believe the elements and physicality of the Steelers was the difference. And if YOU do your research before vomiting from your noise hole you would know that the Steeler’s schedule is the toughest in the modern era based on their opponents winning % from the year before.
Once again, it was great to crush your playoff hopes and remind you that your team is just the Kansas City Chiefs of the NFC……now going on THIRTEEN (13) years without a playoff win. The only difference is your team has a better hype machine.
