Pounding Away on My Final Term Paper

Due tomorrow evening, so I’ll just be watching the scores of the early games on line.

Can the Falcons finally lose a game? Please? If they start to stumble, we should be in good shape, provided the Redskins and Eagles keep losing.

by kindablue on Dec 7, 2008 11:39 AM CST reply actions

As bad as it could be

having Barber AND Ware not playing today(knocking on wood for Ware), we are lucky we have the opportunity to put another stud on the field instead of filling in a weak player. I (obviously) want Ware on the field, but Anthony Spencer is a gamer, and these two injuries are just one more reason for this team to come together and fight for each other at the end of the season. They know where they sit in the playoff picture, and they know what kind of opponent Pitt is going to be. With an offensive and defensive leader injured at the moment, that’s all the more reason for the focus and heart we all long for to come out for this week 14 game.

I am not impressed with the top of the AFC. I’m sorry, but this is the year of the NFC top tier teams. Dallas could certainly have better defensive numbers playing Cincy and Cleve twice this year instead of games against the Skins, Giants, and Iggles. The stage is set for the Dallas Defense to show the entire league and all the haters what kind of monster they can be… and what kind of MVP Romo is to this team. Roy Williams needs to establish himself in the offense at some point before the playoffs, and what a perfect time to blow up, right when we need a spark to start a long winning streak.

Go Dallas

my bad..

Jay Glazer reported it during his segment on Fox NFL Sunday. He said originally Pacman was slated to return kicks/punts and shuffle around as a corner for sub packages, he said that’s not the case today, Henry will be moved to free safety and Pacman will be lined up at corner.

by DieSlowKeyshawn on Dec 7, 2008 11:48 AM CST up reply actions

yes sir

Henry at safety is definitely news..

I don't get it, earlier in the segment he said the boys won't make the playoffs

yet picked them to beat Pittsburgh. If we win today coupled with a Falcons loss, things are looking UP, UP, UP!

by DieSlowKeyshawn on Dec 7, 2008 12:01 PM CST up reply actions

That's understandable

Cowboys are the Visiting team, no starting running back, weather condtions, against a tough defensive team that causes alot of turnovers.

by Deke on Dec 7, 2008 11:59 AM CST up reply actions

But seriously...

the analysts are giving us NO CHANCE. Warren Sapp said it’ll be over early, Pittsburgh blow out because of no Marion Barber. Give me a break!

by DieSlowKeyshawn on Dec 7, 2008 12:01 PM CST up reply actions

they're commentators, that's what they're paid to do, give there opinions

What gets me is why so many cowboys fans get all up in the air because some commentators didn’t pick your team to win………..so they pick the Steelers—-big deal!!!

by Deke on Dec 7, 2008 12:04 PM CST up reply actions

its not that they just pick the Steelers but apparently we have no chance and will be blown out early…damn right i’m “up in the air”

The Media Hates the Cowboys

Especially when facing an East Coast team (Pitts, New England, Giants, Eagles, etc.). Some stations are better than others, but if a team is not in the Eastern time zone, analysts in the major media outlets have a hard time comprehending they could win.

by kindablue on Dec 7, 2008 12:08 PM CST up reply actions

Yeah the media hates the cowboys

They only want them on their broadcasts every week because of the ratings. All the media outlets know which team brings in the money and the numbers.

Pitt beat the cowboys in Dallas, New England also beat the cowboys in Dallas, the eagles won last year in dallas, and almost beat them in week two for which I said at the time the Eagles were the better team and the giants beat the cowboys this year and last year in the playoffs last year. I think the media has a clue what they’re talking about, history has been speaking for them lately, but that’s not to say it could change today..

by Deke on Dec 7, 2008 12:15 PM CST up reply actions

Pittsburgh Beat Dallas

In, what, 2004? What does that have to do with how good Dallas is right now?

I guess if a 6-10 Dallas team barely loses to a 15-1 Pittsburgh team four years ago, that validates how smart the media is? But if we barely beat the Eagles, that proves the Eagles are better?

Logic, untangle thy self.

by kindablue on Dec 7, 2008 12:23 PM CST up reply actions

In that game

Didn’t Testeverde fumble a handoff to Hambrick or Richie Anderson when we were running out the clock and they returned it for a TD?

by commoncents on Dec 7, 2008 12:35 PM CST up reply actions

Close

We were leading 20-17, just trying to run out the clock near midfield. Pittsburgh was out of timeouts. We decided to pass on third and long, and Ritchie Anderson accidently knocked the ball out of Testaverde’s hand. The Steelers recovered and returned it to the Dallas 25, and scored a few plays later.

by Raul Villaronga on Dec 7, 2008 2:48 PM CST up reply actions

they were 2-2 at the time, coming off a 10-6 record and a playoff game.

The media always looks at their most recent games and against each other. Heck whenever the cowboys and Steelers play, they talk about the seventies endlessly, you dont think that influences them, it does.. why, I dont know, what the seventies have to do with today is beyond me, but they do…Its’ their opinion, again why so many cowboy fans get all up in arms becasue a CEMMENTATOR doesn’t pick your team to win, it comes down too, the media hates the cowboys…

The better team lost in week two, that was the Eagles, that’s my opinion from watching that game, the key to that game was the botched handoff or fake handoff by McNabb when they were going in for a scoring drive. The Eagles are the same team that beat the cowboys in Dallas in December last year, you rememebr that collapse last year….

Dallas makes enough plays a game to shoot themselves in the foot, poor decision. poor plays, penalties, one dimentional, a soft team up front, no different from last year. a team that has alot of good players but they dont play as a team…

by Deke on Dec 7, 2008 12:59 PM CST up reply actions

So What Does That Have to Do With Anything?

You were talking about how smart the media was, not how often they invoke ancient history.

Based on this and many other “discussion”, you have turned obfuscation into an art form.

by kindablue on Dec 7, 2008 1:06 PM CST up reply actions

I never said how smart they were, I said they have a clue

if the media picks the cowboy to win and the team loses, Silence by fans…

If the media picks the cowboys to lose and the cowboys win, the media are idiots.. Just because they dont agree with your prediction, that doesn’t make them idiots or haters or knowing less than you. It’s their opinion

The media and or commentators for the most part are ex-players, they make their decisions on recent history between the teams, injuries, tape they watch and matchups they breakdown and hoew the team is playing lately..

I guess the Rams were the better “team”.. I guess the better team never loses games they should win….

by Deke on Dec 7, 2008 1:43 PM CST up reply actions

Good Grief

Having a clue, and how smart one is, are synonymous terms.

More obfuscation.

Guess which one I’m choosing.

We don't NEED the Falcons to lose, guys

Not to question the prevailing wisdom here, but….

Isn’t it just as good for us if the Falcons win their next few and win the division? Then we would be battling the Bucs and the Panthers. We own the tie-breaker over the Bucs due to our head-to-head win, and we would hvae the NFC record tie-breaker over the Panthers if they lose two more NFC games in the next 4 weeks.

Falcons losing isn’t the only way to the playoffs.

Shouldn’t we technically be rooting against Philly? I REALLY doubt we’re winning the division. But if Philly loses today, then you can pretty much cross them off as a team we need to be concerned about. And the more teams we can cross off that list, the better.

I think the optimal scenario would be a meteor hitting the stadium in the second half, but barring that, I’d prefer a Giants win, as much as I hate them.

Ware's Injury

On the injury report for today’s game: We think that they are just listing Ware as questionable to be safe? I was assuming he’d be playing and would be almost completely fine until I heard the latest reports this weekend. Is there a reason for concern here?

“Questionable” is supposed to mean that a player is 50/50 to play. Doubtful is 25, Probable is 75.

Ware Expected To Play

Posted by jellis at 12/7/2008 1:48 PM CST

Contrary to a national report this morning about the playing status of DeMarcus Ware, the fourth-year Cowboys linebacker and NFL sacks leader is still expected to play in today’s 3:15 p.m. (CST) game at Pittsburgh’s Heinz Field.

Ware was listed as probably on Friday. He told a member of the Cowboys PR staff this morning that nothing had changed since then.

I'M ROOTING FOR THE EAGLE BECAUSE

A Giants loss this week, followed by a loss to us next week not only puts the Division back in play (barely I know) but also puts a WORLD of doubt in the mind of the only team I think can keep us from the SB

I think Ware is going to earn the NFL MVP in this game

and our Safties have been holding up ever since he kick started his campaign

I expect to see Henry on the TE on passing downs

by AustonianAggie on Dec 7, 2008 1:59 PM CST up reply actions

It's a national spotlight game

So it could certainly help Ware’s chances for AP Defensive Player of the Year if he comes up big.

MVP is probably a stretch. When’s the last time a defensive player (or anyone other than a QB or RB, for that matter) won that?

Larry Allen benched 700 pounds. That is Leonard Davis times two.

by Tim Wilson on Dec 7, 2008 2:00 PM CST up reply actions

Probably just call him a Safety

I don’t know if it’s meaningful to distinguish between FS and SS for Henry and Hamlin. They’ll probably be doing similar things, with Henry absorbing more man-to-man coverage roles. In fact, it might easiest to call all 4-5 of our guys back there “Defensive Backs” and leave it at that.

We need to be pulling for the Giants.

We not catching them and it works in our favor if they clinch early. They start resting guys and getting their offense out of sync. Its hard to get up for a game when you have it all locked up. Look at us last year.

We should be pulling for all division leaders. The more the division leaders win the more loses for potential wild cards. Thats our battle. The wild card.
