I had posted a response in a ridiculous diary about trading MBIII (that was mercifully deleted) that basically stated; youtube highlight videos do not a hall of famer make. Anybody can dub a Disturbed tune over some grainy ESPN Thursday night college football snippets and call it the next coming, but the reality of those runs is there is usually more bad then good.
This is a Mayock breakdown of his top 5 running backs. Like Big Hair (Kiper Jr.) there are those who like to bag on him. The difference is that he is usually more accurate and not as prone to only evaluating the highlight plays. In my humble opinion, Mayock is second only to Goose Gosselin when it comes to draft analysis. The main difference between the two is the Goose evaluates the players and then shuts up until he gets his information validated by just about every NFL GM in the league. Anybody who has followed the draft for any length of time has seen Goose introduced as the most respected draft analyst out there.
Back to this breakdown. Rarely do you see someone go against the hype and call it like he sees it. McFadden has bust written all over him. Outside speed runner with poor technique sounds like a lot of other runners who have been drafted high based on their performance against college opponents. What said it all for me was the play where Ali Highsmith almost catches McFadden from behind. Highsmith is not a top 25 player and will not get a 1st round grade from most GMs. The fact that without a fortuitous block, he catches Darren from behind tells me that some of us have been enamored by the youtube highlight. Based on this analysis, I trade up a bit and get Mendenhall or stay put and go for Felix Jones.
I am sure that this will have the gloves flyin so keep it civil and hopefully new.
