Any chance we sign C.Johnson, Roy Williams,or Fitzgerald? Seems like we could do alot better in FA with our first round picks than in the draft. Any of those receivers on the opposite side would be dangerous. Also, how about Faneca, sounds like he's up for auction as well. Are there any standout corners out there that could help us that we might be able to get?

Cincinnati's not likely to give up Chad
They'd still be out $8 million if they traded him thanks to that six year deal he got two years ago.

Also, AZ has plans to extend Fitzgerald...
I think we have a better chance at Detroit WR-Roy Williams due to five big reasons:
- Matt Millen is the Detroit Lions' GM.
- The Motown Williams has voiced his desire to go back to play in his home state of Texas.
- Matt Millen is the Detroit Lions' GM.
- Matt Millen is the Detroit Lions' GM.
- Matt Millen is the Detroit Lions' GM.
Oh, you forgot...
Matt Millen is the Detroit Lions' GM.
How ironic would him trading away Roy Williams be now? After spending so many top draft picks on WR's, have most of them not turn out (at least not so far), and then trade away the one that does.
I'm not gonna lie, I'm hoping they trade him (not to another NFC East team of course) just because I can't stop looking at the train wreck.

They need a LB and a DE
Any coincidence the Cowboys are shopping Carpenter and Spears?
You forgot another reason they may want to trade him.
He is entering the last year of his contract (2008, $574,500) and they know he won't extend his contract. Might as well trade him and get some value.
Didn't Know That. Thanks DeRat!!!
ok....what's alot of money? andsd what's too old?
He's 32....which is usually in the prime of an offensive lineman's career...at least 3 years of quality play from him....
Will he get more than Hutchinson of Minn ?...7 million or so ?...I don't think so..........
If I could get him for 6 mil per, as opposed to an older Flo for 7-8 mil....I go with Fanaca.

What?
If I could get him for 6 mil per, as opposed to an older Flo for 7-8 mil....I go with Fanaca.
Fanaca can't replace Flo at LT, and I am strongly against moving Davis from RG to LT, he has proven to be a great lineman at RG and just wasn't as good at LT.
I never said that...
Fanaca would be a major upgrade of Kosier..at LG
Doug Free would take over for Flo at LT. I'm against putting Bigg Davis over at LT.

agreed
but I don't see anymore FA lineman being signed. We invested in too much in the lineman already. We need to start our own players if Flozell is not resigned.

Faneca
Doesn't he want to go to Arizona to reunite with Whisenhut and Grimm?
Plus, I don't think we need to sign any high priced guards that are 32 years old (I had a Rivera flashback). Let's see about building through the draft, especially since Houck is back as O-line coach.

U Read My Mind Regarding Rivera, Tom
Yeah...
30-somethings + Big $ FA Contracts = Wasted Cap Space
best bet
is Roy Williams and should only cost us our 28th or second round pick. CJ seems unlikely and it would cost us more. Cinci will take a 8 million dollar hit on the cap if they release or try to trade CJ. As far as Fitzgerald, they need to restructure his contract and they probably will becuase they like him more than Boldin. Fitzgerald is going to count something like 15 mill against there cap if they don't restructure it.

theres no way any of them are here
Fitz or Roy or Chad
well our 28 pick could be F Jones - R Mendenhall
I rather have one of those two

Odds are real good
that Williams lands in Dallas, especially if Detroit is only willing to part with a 2nd round pick. We need another top WR to play opposite TO. Roy's career would be revitalized here in Dallas, much like Davis last season.

Motown Roy > Rookie WR in '08 Draft
I'm with you on that one, 81. And with Matt Millen being their GM, we have a great chance of that deal happening this off season :)
Don't take Roy Williams for more than a 2nd
He gets injured too much.
I still like Bryant Johnson if we pick up a FA WR. He wouldn't break the bank and he's still young.
by APerfectStar on Feb 8, 2008 12:17 AM CST up reply actions
Johnson, Williams and Fitz are not free agents
we would have to trade for these guys.
exactly
and detroit has said they are shopping Williams for a second round pick.
by Cowboys81 on Feb 8, 2008 1:27 PM CST up reply actions
our second rd pick is probably too low for them
I'm thinking they would want a high 2nd rounder so therefore we would probably have to give them our second 1st rd pick at #28 to get Roy.
Good point
Our second is very close to a third and our first is going to take the place of the second in a deal.
I have no problem with
that either because Williams with the 28th pick would be better than anything we could get in the draft. Jerry is probably going to trade down that pick anyway to get another 2nd.
