Major McFadden Crush
This probably doesn't warrant a diary, no, this definently doesn't warrant a diary. Over at the Star-Telegram Gil Lebreten has a major crush on DMAC.
http://www.star-telegram.com/332/sto...
He goes as far as comparing the Arkansas tailback to the greats of the Cowboys past including Emmitt Smith and Tony Dorsett.
Fast. Versatile. Explosive. McFadden gets to enemy linebackers so quickly, it sometimes appears as if he's running straight at them. Yet, he's as elusive as Emmitt ever was and faster than Dorsett.
He does say that the Adrian Peterson comparisons are premature, that Peterson has a ways to go until he is on DMACs level.
Some have said that McFadden, a two-time Heisman Trophy runner-up, has the size, strength and speed to be the next Adrian Peterson. And they would be wrong.
McFadden is better than Peterson. And he'll be a more valuable NFL running back because he's more durable.
Another qoute from this mans love letter,
Trade up to draft McFadden? The Cowboys should consider such a deal only if.... only if they wish one day to return to the Super Bowl.
He goes on to say that we should trade near anything that Parcells wants for that #1 pick. We should trade Barber and our two firsts for that #1 pick.
About Probowls,
Barber might never make another one. McFadden is probably going to play in at least 10. If you prowl the Internet, there are highlight clips aplenty that star McFadden. Go see for yourself.
I just wanted to know am I the only one who thinks this man is bordering on losing his sanity?

Geez...starting to sound like...
Mike Ditka in 1999.
I wonder if JJ would pose with DMac in a Wedding Dress?

I agree. The cowboys dont NEED dmac.
Theres no reason to give away everything for one guy.

I saw that earlier
His rationale seems to be, "Barber's great, but he's not super-de-duper". UGH.
Dmac's great, but damn. What part of "Don't mortgage your team's future for one player" do people not understand?
by Nelson on Mar 2, 2008 11:57 AM CST reply actions 0 recs
please
people actually believing that getting Dmac would 'mortgage' the future is a very naive train of thought. Some fan says something, then others run with that thought. Consider yourselves sucked!

cowboys weakest element is their secondary
so why ignore that to add another superstar on an offensive that was second best already. and we all saw what happen to the top rated offense.

That sums it up
When your team has no cap room, DMac will demand a huge contract and hold out for it, you have problems in the secondary and 2 first round picks to patch holes, and you already have a pro bowl running back and the 2nd best offense in the NFL, it is at the very least an unwise use of resources. When you factor in DMac's contract demands, the team's cap situation and the sacrifices of cut players and draft picks required to obtain the necessary high pick and sign him, it's mortgaging the future.

+1
Yep. Well said.

LOL, Lebreten has totally lost it
The only player D Mac compares to is a little bigger version of Robert Smith. D Mac is nowhere as good as AP, its not even close.

Regardless of whether people think he is or Isn't
Saying so at this point is incredibly premature. He hasn't played a down in the NFL yet. Saying that the reigning rookie of the year has a 'ways to go' before he can compare with a prospect is pretty out there.

You will be eating those words Terry
He will be just as good and maybe even better. He was projected to be a better pro than AP. It doesn't hurt that AP has a fantastic line in Minn people are forgetting.
This kid is going to tear up the league next season.

This Piece Is Merely A COMMENTARY... that's all
And it sounds more like a post or diary someone could write here on BTB.
Don't get me wrong. I awe at the amazing skills and talents of Darren McFadden. In fact, whenever I flipped through the channels during college football season and came across a Hogs game... I'd always stop to wait til they had the ball -- just to see D-Mac!!!
But for LeBreton to compare him to Tony Dorsett and Emmitt Smith -- BEFORE HE'S EVEN SET FOOT ON AN NFL FIELD FOR A REAL GAME -- is simply premature. To top it off, how do you say that's McFadden's better than Adrian Peterson when AD already has an NFL season under his belt -- a damn good one at that -- and McFadden hasn't even played a regular season game yet.
I wish April would get here already.

He's gotta write something...
With the Cowboys sitting on the sidelines in the free agent market he doesn't have much "home town" stuff to write about.
Whether you agree with him or not, you have to admit he's got everyone's attention with this article.
Actually, it's the kind of article I'd expect Randy Galloway to write. He loves to throw stuff out there to see how people will react.
