Bears look at McFadden and Jones
The Bears are taking an interest in Darren McFadden and may trade up for him. In the Alternative, they may stand pat at #14 and take Felix Jones, who should still be available. If this is true, this may throw a wrench in the works for the Cowboys if they are hoping that Jones will still be available with either of their 1st round picks. Could this prompt Jerry to trade up?

I doubt

Agreed
Jones is a speed back who didn't run under a 4.4. His yards per carry numbers are beyond stunning, but he's got to show some more physical tools as well as the ability to be more than a complement to merit a grade above the late first round.

Misdirection and Gamesmanship
You can't put a whole lot of stock in what any team claims to be thinking at this point in time. Teams feign interest in certain players to mask their real intent or to influence other teams to take some action that would be to their (the team feigning interest) benefit.

Another silly season rumor??
The bears have one already high priced, high draft pick running back in Benson, so I doubt very much that the bears are going to trade up for mcfadden when they could very well get Mendenhall or Stewart at 14.

why would Jerry care what the Bears are doing???
that doesn't make sense to me. I really hope the Bears do trade up to get DMac because thats one less team that will take Mendenhall, who is the real stud RB in this draft.

If the Bears are interested in F. Jones then
I could forsee a scenario where the Bears trade their 14th spot to the Cowboys in exchange for the Cowboy's 22nd and 61st picks. We then have a really great shot at getting either McKelvin, DRC or Mendenhall and the Bears pick up Jones at #22 and get an extra 2nd rounder.
Then we trade our #28 to Atlanta for one of their 3 2nd rd picks and their 4th rd pick. We then can select either one of the top remaining RBs or CBs that would still be available in the top half of the 2nd rd.

I don't see DRC or McKelvin there at #14...but
if they were...I'd do it...we wouldn't do it to get an RB...i am sure of that...I don't see the Bears passing on a top OL though....so that's all garbage talk...

Pat Kirwan at NFL.com has DRC
going to us at #22, and he was a former GM and knows how the draft works, so I don't think its inconceivable that DRC is there at #14, actually I think its about 50/50.

I pray every night he gets past pick #12
If he does..I have no doubt Jerry will trade for him...#1 rated DB on their draft chart...I would still try to swing a deal for the 7th,8th,9th,10th,11th,12th,13th pick though...cuz that's where I see him going..
oh btw...I know how the draft works...I was former Prom King at my high school....does that make me royalty ?? lol..
Every team in the top 22 picks needs a CB.....so I don't go on any mock drafts for my info...If he gets to 14....I'll be amazed..to put it litely.

obviously every team needs CBs
you can't have too many as the Tuna used to say and thats true, but I disagree that every team in the top 22 have immediate needs at CB.
I never said Kirwan was royalty, but he has actually conducted a draft for an NFL team unlike anyone of us. If you're the draft guru you think you are, then you should know players projected high often are drafted much lower. I certainly wouldn't be amazed if DRC slides to us, I've seen too many drafts to be shocked by anything that happens on draft day.

Teams that have an immediate NEED for CB
Miami, St Louis, Atlanta, Kansas City, NY Jets, NE, Baltimore, NO, Buffalo, Carolina, Arizona, Houston, Washington, Tampa, Dallas, Tennessee, NY Giants, GB, SD, San Fran......Not saying all will select one in round one...but all will draft one within the first 3-4 rounds. bold is first round possibilities..
If DRC gets by NO at 10, which I don't think he will.......Our best bet is to trade with Buffalo at #11.....They have a strong need for a big, talented WR opposite Evans......#11 being a bit of a reach for any WR in this draft.....so it would benefit them to trade with us, and still have one of these guys there at #22: Kelly, Sweed, Hardy, or Thomas...plus our 2nd rounder...and possibly a late rounder in next years draft.

those teams you list also have other needs that
are much more immediate which is why DRC has a great chance of sliding to us, that and the fact that I'm sure a lot of those teams have Talib and Jenkins ranked higher on their board.
While we both agree DRC and McKelvin are the best CBs in the draft, I'm sure there are scouts that beg to differ.

The Bears are taking...
...Mendenhall at #14. Local kid, they need a RB because CBenson is a bust.
No chance they take Felix at #14, and no chance DMac is there either.

This is why the Bears Suck
This is why the Bears suck. They STILL haven't learned the obvious lesson that running backs are accessories on a successful offense in today's NFL, not the focus. Draft Cedric Benson and build your offense around a running back instead of a quarterback? Well, that didn't work so well, but the problem is the player, not the philosophy. Yeah, right. Let them have McFadden or any other back with the #14 pick. Unlike a few years ago, the Bears don't have the best defense and the best special teams in the NFL. As long as the Bears are starting Grossman or any other 'quarterback' on that roster, it is highly unlikely that they are going to be successful.
Over the last 25 years, 39 of the last 40 running backs selected with one of the first 15 picks in the draft have failed to lead their team to a Super Bowl win. Those that ignore history (the Bears) are doomed to repeat it.
