Roy Williams rumor
It's not really a rumor, just something I heard the other day. I live in Nashville and I was listening to the local sports talk radio station and they had John McClain from the Houston Chronicle on. He said that every week during the season, the Cowboy's defensive players get together for dinner and hanging out and everyone attends except Roy Williams. His implication is that Roy is unpopular in the lockeroom and the Cowboys are getting tired of his act. Has anyone heard anything about this? What do you guys think?

This sounds like
speculation. I had not heard this before. I also dont know how a Houston newspaper writer would have this kind of information.
I am not a Roy fan, but I still would find it hard to believe that he is viewed that way and we still gave him that big contract a couple years ago.
But hey, anythings possible.

But impatient
Dont’ you think Roy’s play has gotten progressively worse since he signed the contract? That could stem from decreased motivation which would surely piss teammates off. I still can’t get over that interview he did where he said that winning a superbowl would be nice but it is not his priority.

That does make sense.
But I find it hard to believe for a guy who was the face of the franchise 2 years ago. Of course that was before Demarcus Ware, MBIII, Tony Romo and TO happened to us. If you ask me. I cut him or trade him. 2 1/2 years of crappy play with not enough upside to justify his salary is enough for me.

The whole not going out to dinner with the other defensive players thing...
comes from a Jen Engel article a month or two ago. So that is a fact according to her news story.

This was the first I had heard it.
To me, I think saftey is a huge need for this team. I’m not sold on Hamlin, Williams’ problems in coverage are well documented, and Watkins is backup at best. In fact, I think saftey is a bigger need than running back or wide receiver. I would love to see either Phillips or Tyrell Johnson here.

interesting..
I thought most people were quite impressed by Hamlin’s play. I was anyway…

I agree...Safety is more a priority than WR...not RB....
Kenny Phillips at #28 would be accepted by me without any reservations….He’s a stud….....some even have Tyrell Johnson going first round as well…..I’d trade out of #28….pick up another 2nd or two….and take either Phillips or Johnson with that 2nd rounder…

I can’t imagine going into next season without an upgrade in the secondary. We’ve been bad there for several years with Newman being the only decent guy we’ve got.

Roy Williams..
Yea there has been a lot of talk about the aloofness of Roy..They don’t go to dinner..it is lunch..but he doesn’t even talk to other players..let alone the press..The word on the street is since the Destiny Child girl broke off their engagement..He has kinda went deeper into his religion…

That
is incorrect…
Roy is liked and a big voice in the clubhouse.
I hope he’s gone though, I would pay for someone to take him off our hands.
