I'm really starting to think
Taking Kenny Phillips at #22 is not a bad idea. He's projected as easily being the best safety in the draft. RB we can take care of in round 2, and with 28 we can get a corner. There's a lot of talent at corner and RB in this draft, and like Nick Eatman said in the NFL mock, it makes sense. I'm all for it.
Now if we use our #28 on a vet WR I'm not so sure this is the best move anymore. If this were the case I'd have to go with a corner and maybe look at safety in round 3-4.
Man I can't wait! Too bad I have company in this weekend. There's no way in hell they will want to veg out and watch the draft with me... bleh..

I feel ya
I am getting impatient;-) My kid has a football game Saturday but luckily its at 10:30 and I will have about a half hour to spare to get home and situated in time.
His team is 5 – 0 right now with 3 games left to play in a 12 and under, under 120 lb league. Go Devils!!!

Maybe at 28
but you can usually find really good safeties after the first.

Great idea....
We need to pick Phillips at #22. In an uncapped world, we could sign all our players and not have to worry about the financial ramifications. We have to look at possibly filling Ken Hamlin’s spot a year from now. We cannot afford another high priced safety. Already have 1 in Roy…and yes…i know….we’ll hopefully get rid of him after this season. This season, Phillips can play some slot and fill in for Roy on passing situations. We have to start looking at replacements for high priced players and decide where our money is best spent (a. newman should be the first priority for next season). Cover corners are a premium. Gotta be able to stop the pass. We also need to give our young receivers a chance to show us what they have. Not against drafting a receiver, just not in the first round. Sorry for the long response….1st time posting….long time reader of this site….

I dont think we need to draft a first round safety
when CB, RB are the main concerns for this team right now. After drafting Roy WIlliams in the first round it will be some time before we draft a safety that high again. Phillips is a good player, but taking him at 22 is a bit of a reach and we really don’t need him this season. We need a RB and CB to contribute this season, not a player that will be sitting the bench. If Phillips was sitting there at 28, maybe I would consider it, but I really don’t see it happening.

welcome aboard Lethal.....keep posting.....
and your right…THIS should be the year to actually gain a legit Safety prospect early in the draft…With an unknown status on Hamlin, and everyone’s desire to banish Roy….I’d like to have a seasoned safety going into next year….The pickings get pretty slim after round 3…...
We don’t NEED to draft a WR early this year…...We either trade for a stud…or take a shot in rounds 3,4,5…...How many Miles Austin’s can one team carry ?...
we need one of these guys
—-—-—-—-—-—-—--:
Kenny Phillips 1-2
Tyrell Johnson 1-2
DuJuan Morgan 2
Reggie Smith 2
Charles Godfrey 2-3
Josh Barrett 2-3
Tom Zbitkowski 2-3
Tom McCloud 3-4
Will Demps 3-4

I would rather...
Take a safety in a later round, say the 3rd/4th, this year. Ideally, I would like to see a safety taken in the first round the year before we cut Roy Williams.

lol...Ghetto......that year is here now...
Pending a complete transformation in Roy’s play this season..I can not see us continue to pay this shell of his former self 6 million a year to hinder our pass defense….Roy Williams should be a June 1st cut next year….AND the possibility of not being able to resign Hamlin makes this year even more of a priority…...Phillips would be playing this year if drafted….say EVERY play that is 3rd down and 5 or longer….Roy will be taken out on obvious passing downs….or should be…

Staying home.
I was gonna have a draft party, but I’m gonna stay traditional on my favorite day of the year and be alone with my HD, in my Romo jersey, sippin’ mamosas. 9am here on the Pacific—can’t wait.
It would really beef this defense up if we get Philips, then spend the 28th on a corner. Wow! With Pacman hopefully coming into town—should be a top 5 D fosho!
The O should already be top 5, and finding RBs after the first is easily possible.
Here’s an idea: Let’s trade next year’s #1 for a vet WR and bank on getting to the Superbowl. It’d be a low, low first rounder anyways!
That #38 sure can hit!

Saturday
is highly anticipated. My senior prom is that day though, I’m gonna have to spend part of it planning the after-party, ha.
My popcorn's ready!

Right on...
Agree -
22 – CB (Cason or Jenkins)
28 – Safety (Tyrell or Kenny Phillips)
Round 2 – RB (Chris Williams or Jamal Charles)
Round 3 – Package picks and move up to top of the third round in this round for the BPA or WR (Eddie Royal, Dexter Jackson, or Jordy Nelson). Wouldn’t it be nice to move up to take the first pick on the second day?? We got the ammo to do it.
Remember, we only need three or four guys for a SB run…

Defense again?
If we keep ignoring the aging offense in the first round we will pay later for it.
