Mocking the Draft round two: Dallas Cowboys on the clock

The second round is drawing to a close over at Mocking The Draft and BTB is on the almost on the clock at #61. It has been a fairly straightforward draft so far with a few twists here and there. The most surprising thing is the amount of wide receivers still available. A few picks ahead of Dallas the Dolphins nabbed James Hardy, someone I was seriously considering.

So we now lay it back in the hands of you, the BTB community. Who should the Cowboys pick at #61? I have narrowed the list down and call on you to cast your vote for the final decision. Should the Cowboys get a receiver or go for Roy Williams' eventual replacement? You decide.

For reference, the Cowboys selected Antoine Cason with the #22 pick and Felix Jones with the #28 pick.

no link to the selections thus far??

And I’d have to know who you picked in the first round??

Trade up a few spots to get ahead of Houston and draft Jonathan Stewart, thee best all around Back in the draft.

Tyrell Johnson

He is the best value pick there, and all the other receivers you mentioned are third rounders.

Hawkins never had a really good season and will probably be nothing more than an above average number 2 receiver. His measureables are nothing to write home about either.

I used to be high on Manningham, but he worked himself into the third round with some of his recent statements and he has had previous character issues. He is a boom bust prospect. Not sure I would risk a second rounder on him.

I like Jordy Nelson, and he certainly was very productive in college. But he is definitely not quick or fast, and may have difficulty separating from corners in the NFL.

Eddie Royal didn’t have such a great collegiate career, and his size tells me that he will probably be nothing more than a very good slot receiver. Not worth spending a second rounder on a third receiver. You are still trying to get starters in the second round.

You totally forgot about Donnie Avery. He is the fastest, quickest, and most electric out of all the receivers you mentioned, and had a monster senior season. And we all know Wade loves those Houston alums.

This is all just my opinion.

Its tough to narrow down who to throw into the poll

Donnie Avery has been scouted as a third-fourth rounder, ranking #15 at his position. But I do agree that most of the receivers here aren’t any better than third rounders anyway.

that was before his pro day

I have seen him mentioned as an early second rounder now.

I agree

I personally think Donnie Avery has all of the tools DeSean Jackson posses, plus he was productive in his last year.. 1400 yds recieving

That speed matched with his quickness and the guarntee of no double teams equals trouble for defenses. Perfect fit for #2 WR.

I say Donnie Avery.. You see that Short Shuttle time..

none of the above

I would of said Red Bryant, but Tampa took him, them turds!!! So I’m going to go with Andre Caldwell, WR out of Floida..

I'd have to say

Jordy Nelson is the best player on the board at this point, but Eddie Royal is the best fit.

No more corners?

Manningham seems like a nice choice, but I’ve seen him get totally shut out of games—big games at that.

I would really like a defensive player here and that Tyrell Johnson looks fast and is an explosive hitter.

I voted for Jordy Nelson because he is a good special teamer and I’ve seen him blow away Aquib Talib, but I don’t see Dallas picking a WR this high.

That #38 sure can hit!
