great pick

I love Mendenhall, but Jones is the perfect compliment to MB3. Jerry must think he can get MB3 resigned.

by Boyzfan94 on Apr 26, 2008 6:30 PM CDT up reply actions

I think Jones will be awesome

I just don’t get why we picked him at 22.

by grapejoos on Apr 26, 2008 4:42 PM CDT reply actions

My thoughts exactly.

I like Jones but this was a reach.

Great pick

I agree!

Is it training camp yet?

Speed and the Beast

I like mendenhall, but, I’ll take Jones. Jenkins will be there at 28

by TeamStrike on Apr 26, 2008 4:43 PM CDT reply actions

sweetness

JJ is back baby, great stuff

just got ownaged

by Longhorn on Apr 26, 2008 4:43 PM CDT reply actions

Terrible pick

You could’ve gotten him at 28. Obviously there’s gotta be something we don’t know about Mendenhall since he’s free-falling, but you’ve gotta go Jenkins then Jones if you don’t want Mendenhall

by MeanMr.Mustard on Apr 26, 2008 4:43 PM CDT reply actions

wow pitt took mendenhall

by Zak on Apr 26, 2008 4:44 PM CDT reply actions

Maybe Jones thought

Mendenhall is too much like MB3 and he really wants the thunder and lightening.

by Billito on Apr 26, 2008 4:44 PM CDT reply actions

Jones is a lil faster

than Barber but he’s not a major burner based on his 40 which was in the mid 4.4’s.

I just don’t know.

by ajspop on Apr 26, 2008 4:46 PM CDT up reply actions

Didn't Mendenhall

run a faster time anyway?

Mendenhall may have beat him by a little

Jones

will compliment MB3 phenomenally

i wanted felix jones...

but i also wanted mendenhall….and it sucks that pittsburgh gets ANOTHER good runner….bittersweet moment, i guess….but we improved as a squad…that’s all i’m looking for…

by Tuna Helper on Apr 26, 2008 4:45 PM CDT reply actions

true

silver lining is that felix fits well here as a backup and punt returner.

...But that was poor draft management.

by MeanMr.Mustard on Apr 26, 2008 4:47 PM CDT up reply actions

woo woo woo!!

hope pitt is okay with a bust

i am warming to the pick...

it makes sense as a compliment to MBIII … and we can still get a quality CB in this draft

Mendenhall was only good for 1 year, Felix for 3 years

and he doesn’t have the wear and tear on his body like every other runningback coming out of college. Good Pick. Not GREAT, because he could have slid to 28

by calebsmith on Apr 26, 2008 4:49 PM CDT reply actions

TEN??

by Mullin on Apr 26, 2008 4:51 PM CDT reply actions

If our pick was bad

This one was horrible! This guy is a burner but a 2nd round talent easily.

by Billito on Apr 26, 2008 4:52 PM CDT up reply actions

Man,

I really wanted Mendenhall. The guy fell right into our laps and is not a change-of-pace back, he is a franchise back. I would have loved this pick if Mendenhall hadn’t been on the board, I would have chosen Jenkins well ahead of Jones as well. Jones could probably be available at #28.

by Romo9 on Apr 26, 2008 4:51 PM CDT reply actions

I’ll bet that tenn gets manningham or something like that in later rounds

by Zak on Apr 26, 2008 4:51 PM CDT reply actions

Chris Brown

Lendale White, and another back that I can’t remember. Makes no sense.

by sprite on Apr 26, 2008 4:52 PM CDT reply actions

+1

At least I know Jerry had a reason to take him at 22 vs. 28. If Jenkins falls or we trade up to get him, I’m at peace.

by MeanMr.Mustard on Apr 26, 2008 4:54 PM CDT up reply actions

we will get a quality CB at 28...

this is working out VERY WELL for us

I can understand that

IMO I would rather have Jenkins but I like Cason alot as well. I was shocked when I saw in SI this weekend they had Jenkins as the #1 corner.

by hashishkabob on Apr 26, 2008 4:53 PM CDT reply actions

Trying to understand.

Basically, this is Jerry Jones saying, yes MBIII, will resign you. If they had taken Mendenhall, they have a guy who can be a number 1 RB. Honestly, that’s what I would have done.

However, this isn’t the end of the world. Jerry is basically just saying, we want to have a guy with speed back there. Johnson had the higher upside for that position, but Felix was the safer bet. I’m okay with this.

Please trade for Roy Williams. I’m beggin you Jerry. Any past wrongs will be forgiven/forgotten!

I can’t believe Jerry did that. What happened to pretending we don’t have Pacman. I’m bummed about that wasted opportunity. I like Felix, but CB was the bigger need and one of the top guys was there.

Huh, Booker, was a 2nd rder last year.

Disappointed at first

Must admit that I wanted Mendenhall for the value pick. But what good is draft value if Felix ends up being a better NFL player. KR and RB. Fills 2 needs.

That #38 sure can hit!

by Aaron Novinger on Apr 26, 2008 5:24 PM CDT reply actions

#22,25 &61

I wanted Mendenhall before the draft even started. But I can’t argue with the logic of taking
Felix. Plus he played in the SEC. I’ve only seen Jenkins play 3or 4 times so can’t really evaluate him. Well Martellus wears a STAR now, so I can forgive him for time spent in College Station. Was’nt to impressed with his game either.
