outstanding selection
Trade up a few spots to get ahead of Houston and draft Jonathan Stewart, thee best all around Back in the draft.
Awesome job Jerry!!!
This makes up for not taking Mendenhall.
Jones and Jenkins give us an A++++ 1st round.
Josh Hamilton = Baseball Jesus
mike jenkins and felix jones...
not bad….although i don’t like giving up a 5th and a 7th….don’t see what’s wrong with taking brandon flowers…don’t see that big of a difference between flowers and jenkins…i’ll take it tho…i’m happy…
You keep saying that
Why? Is Jenkins not better?

I live in Tucson
and have been to many UofA games and can tell you that you would have been right last year. This year he couldnt cover anyone. There is a good reason he fell.
Cason could come in and start right off
but Jenkins has more upside and wont have the pressure to come in and be the man on day one with the Pac-rat onboard

Successful 1st Round for Jerry and Wade...
Special teams gets a SERIOUS shot in the arm.
True.
I’m kind of excited about the idea of drafting some backup safeties and linebackers, because they’ll come in and play special teams and give it an injection of talent.

We could grab another RB like Forte or another CB like Porter
The way the WR’s are falling though, you never know.

Great Looking Secondary
The pick is solid! The secondary if healthy and with Pacman in the fold,it is by far best in the league. Defense wins championships!
Plus
If Spencer gets better, we have a great pass rush
by accidental innuendo on Apr 26, 2008 5:10 PM CDT up reply actions
Exactly
it was a tired looking defence that let Eli march right down the field to end the half and really kill the cowboys momentum. The defence will be stronger this time around, especially like you said accidental innuendo “If spencer gets better”, the better the pass rush, the more turnovers those boys in the dbackfield will create!

Easily the third best corner
Much better than Flowers and Cason. Doesn’t have a high “bust” factor yet has a very high ceiling and potential. The guy could be a stud one day and is more athletic than Flowers or Cason.
He's about to be playing safety...
He’s too damn slow to play CB…
While I really liked Cason
Jenkins is a beast.

Early Doucet?
I don’t know if he’ll last

They aren't...
Only similarity is they both went to LSU…

no to Doucet

+1
Forget that.

WR
Is Terry Glenn healthy?

I am Happy with the picks so far

NT
I think we could use a NT more than a WR with pick #61.
We have serviceable backups at WR, but not at NT (in case of injury).
Sims would be nice
Not sure how long he’ll last though.
I hope Andre Caldwell is there in the second round

That would be a great pick at 61
Or Dallas could trade back into the 3rd to make sure they get Red Bryant, and pick up that 5th rounder they gave up to get Jenkins.

I sense shenanigans
Between the NFL and USC

He has a lot of problems
I wouldn’t want to put all my eggs into one basket into a sixth round draft pick. However, I wouldn’t mind picking him up really late in the draft.
well
judging by the RB flurry (Jones/Mendenhall/Johnson) back to back, Jerry probably figured Jenkins would slip but Felix wouldn’t
by MeanMr.Mustard on Apr 26, 2008 5:24 PM CDT up reply actions
If that's true, then this 1st round went perfectly.
Not every year you get exactly what you want.
Always moving forward....
ESPN also said Mendenhall was our 2nd rated back
guess Jerry doesn’t go by his scouts or board
In Romo we Trust
Get rid of 5th and 7th.
These picks may not even make this team. Save the time and money. I think better players could be had in the 4th and 6th. Good to concentrate on those 1st picks in their respective rounds.
Jenkins will be solid. Dallas did what it needed to do so far today. Hopefully safeties will continue to be ignored through the 2nd.
Is it just me, or is anybody else sick of hearing that Dallas NEEDS to draft a WR? It’s not that pressing of a need this year. We need guys who can contribute now—like the one’s already picked. Special teamers at least..
That #38 sure can hit!
IF Dallas drafts a WR
I would want it to be Desean Jackson if he possibly drops to their 2nd round pick. WRs are sliding, so—who knows?
DJack is a local guy around here in CA. He’s been working out with Jerry Rice and is committed to his game. Kindof a tough guy for a small guy. Maybe he’d be like a Steve Smith?

I agree
We have the same WRs as last year and we kicked ass last year on offense.
We might get help from Glenn and Stanback this year. I’m more nervous about backup S and NT (in case of injury).
Stanback may need another year.

NY goes with K. Phillips.
I like Phillips. Good pick by the Giants. I was hoping they would pass on him.
Could be. Although I wouldn't be
surprised to see him at OLB in the Ware, Merriman role. He’s not as good of an athlete as those two but it could still be a really nice fit.
Not gonna lie...
...was pissed when they passed on Jenkins to get Jones but now that they have both…wow…don’t remember being this happy on draft day in a long time.
"sorry, I'm usually a dick by pointing these things out but 'concepted' is classic" - ab03
Yup
At the time I was ready to kill Jerry … But if you’d told me pre-draft we’d get Felix and Jenkins, I’d have been ecstatic.
by MeanMr.Mustard on Apr 26, 2008 5:45 PM CDT up reply actions
Dude, are you kidding me?
Donnie Avery is the 1st receiver taken. There are 4 better receivers.
I'm glad we got CB and RB taken care of in the first
You’ve gotta think we’re pretty flexible now … OL, WR, S, TE and trade down are all pretty decent options at this point.
eh
without Fasano we could use a 2nd TE. 2nd round is probably a little early though, I agree.
by MeanMr.Mustard on Apr 26, 2008 5:51 PM CDT up reply actions
We have a backup TE
Tony Curtis.
Micky Spagnola said earlier that he was told by a member of the Cowboys that Curtis was almost certainly going to beat Fasano out for backup TE anyway.
Interesting
I hadn’t heard that. I mean, I knew we had Curtis, I just wasn’t sure how ready he was to play significant minutes.

I forgot about James Hardy
Is he worth our 2nd-rounder? And will he last that long?
by accidental innuendo on Apr 26, 2008 5:52 PM CDT reply actions
Dexter Jackson
is exactly the type of player we need.

I wouldn't
be surprised if he was picked earlier. He is the fastest receiver in the draft.
And the secret sources in Cincinnati get the last laugh....
there is
His name is Danny Amendola, not quite as quick but he is tough and has great hands. If he is drafted it would probably be 7th round. He’ll likely be a free agent, I’d love for the boys to bring him into camp, but i think they are just looking for someone to play opposite TO and are happy with Crayton in the slot
We need
to trade our 6th and 2nd to move up and get Sweed or Hardy…

Flacco, Sam Baker, and Donnie Avery
come to mind

WR? S? TE? Anything else?

Brohm's decision
to stay for his senior year cost him tens of millions of dollars. He would have went top-10 last year. Who knows when he will go now.
What receivers are left?
Sweed, Desean Jackson… Who else?
And the secret sources in Cincinnati get the last laugh....
I heard that a lot of teams are really worried
about his wrist injuries. I guess that that can possibly mean big problems down the road.
I heard it was
his wrist. a lot of teams are very concerned about a receiver with that type of injury
