I think
we are trying to bolster our special teams more than anything..
And the secret sources in Cincinnati get the last laugh....
Great pick
What a steal, he was rated in the top 100.

I think we still have #155
Rubin, or one of the FB’s Schmitt or Hillis

Nope
The Cowboys only pick left is 167, 1st pick in the sixth round.

They fixed it
Dallas doesn’t have #155.

Its official!
Jerry Jones has traded more in this year’s draft than any other year he’s been in control! That’s officially 6 trades without counting the Ayodele/Fasano trade or the PacMan Jones trade.
Bum's Boy Boyz
where you find?
I’m looking for a summary of all the trades but can’t find it.

I'm pumped...
The one weak point for the boys are the special teams..
With Bennett and Scandrick, its looking up.

So
we have one more pick in the draft?
In the 6th

Yup.
I still say Barret is a possibility.
by Brandon Worley on Apr 27, 2008 1:18 PM CDT up reply actions
Its a possibility
But we have to remember we still have Roy and Hamlin.
If anything, we have the chance to have an exceptional dime package this year with Roy sliding up into the box.
by Brandon Worley on Apr 27, 2008 1:20 PM CDT up reply actions
they talk about that every year
Moving Henry to Safety means moving Hamlin which means moving Roy
That #38 sure can hit!
looks like a nice value pick
Strengths:
Adequate size and bulk…Outstanding timed speed…A good athlete..Hips are very fluid and he flips them well to turn and run…Has quick feet…Good ball skills…Can also contribute on special teams…Is tough and physical…Has a ton of experience.
Weaknesses:
Inconsistent and doesn’t always play up to his physical tools…Doesn’t get a great jam at the line…Just an average tackler…Can be blocked….Did not pick off a lot of passes…Was not really tested that much…Questionable instincts and awareness.
Notes:
Was a three-year starter..Ran the second fastest forty time for a corner at the ‘08 Scouting Combine…Has a knack for blocking kicks and could also work as a return man…Press / Man cover guy with excellent triangle numbers…Really put his name on the map with great workouts…Has starting potential and just might be a steal
NOT TAKING A WR IN THIS DRAFT

Can't believe the Bengals took Jason Shirley
Way to keep the streak of taking criminals alive. Good God.

Please no more WRs
This draft is no good for picking up depth at that position. There’s no more room on the team for them unless it’s a vet. We’ve got our special teamers and returners now. Nobody Dallas drafts will beat out Miles Austin or Stanback.
That #38 sure can hit!
Jerry said yesterday
That no WR in this draft would come in and be better right now than any of the guys they already have (Stanback, Hurd, Austin). I think that’s what we’re seeing here. Hopefully Stanback has game.
Dallas wasn't going to take him anyway
To overweight and an underachiever. If we somehow can get Rubin or one of the FB’s.

Well, you don't want to reach for someone
That can come in as a UFA

You don't get a safety for the sake of drafting one. . .you get one that can compete

its all about value late in the draft
Orlando Scandrick was rated around 60 in the draft, getting him in the fifth is a good pick
I would have gotten Dom Barber simply
because MBIII might sign for less money to stay on the same team as his bro.
and Dallas isn't reaching in this draft -- they're going for value
and depth now. But I see each of these guys contributing and playing this year.
That #38 sure can hit!
Choice will definitely play
Look what Ahmad Bradshaw did for the Giants, Ryan Grant did for the Pack—RBs play, especially if you wanna see what you got

Interesting. Good for him though.

dennis dixon 2 steelers..
Romo.. Witten.. Barber.. Owens.... First we had triplets.. Now we got quadruplets!!
we drafted him last year
out of boise state. part of that statue of liberty play in the fiesta bowl. I know he didn’t make it past training camp, but I haven’t heard of him since.

What are Scandrick's MAJOR charactare concerns that NFL.com refers to?
Tar Heels football will surprise this year
Good question
I can’t find any more references to this anywhere.
I havent seen anything about character concerns.

It is in the introduction to the player on NFL.com
but no other reference to it that I can find
Tar Heels football will surprise this year
Josh Johnson
Do we groom a long term back up for Romo?
Another small school lottery ticket like Josh Johnson?
Thoughts?
UFA? Pick #167?
I like going for small school lottery picks here...
The kind that is either off the team or starting in 2 years…. not the “solid pick” type
Tar Heels football will surprise this year
there were no OL worthy at #23
Steelers got a steal in Mendenhall, their RB game will be scaring good
In Romo we Trust
What about Tommy Blake?
Depression issues affected him this year, but he had a MONSTER year at TCU in 2006.
norm says
the medication made him fat and unaggressive. Sounds like an UFA to me.

Hey...
What about Adarius Bowman? At the beginning of the year, we would have been ecstatic to get him in the 2nd, let alone the sixth. He doesn’t quite have the initial burst of speed, but he is fast. He needs to work on his route running according to Scouts Inc, but they thought he might fall to the third.
Check out the size: 6’2 and 7/8” , 223, ran a 4.74.
Think about it. Josh Barret (S-Arizona) and John Sullivan (C-Notre Dame) round out my wish list.
i like
the dude plays like a TE and lays devastating blocks on DB’s. Would gladly take a 6th round flier on him

Prolly a guy they wanted
to protect from rookie FA
From SI
Position:
OLB Class:
Sr School:
Middle Tennessee Conference:
Sun Belt Ht., Wt.:
6-2, 237 40 Time:
4.75
BIOGRAPHY: Moved into the starting lineup as a freshman and has played both defensive end spots as well as outside linebacker the past four years. Senior-year totals included 46/8.5/2 with one interception. Posted career-high numbers of 48/14.5/11.5 as a junior when he was an All-Conference selection.
POSITIVES: Aggressive defender who makes plays all over the field. Gets depth on drops, displays good range, and stays with assignments. Forceful up the field, plays with good leverage, and chases hard to make plays. Displays a good degree of quickness in his game as well as a closing burst of speed.
NEGATIVES: Marginally strong at the point and struggles against blocks. Limited skills making plays in reverse.
ANALYSIS: Walden possesses the size and speed to play at the next level. His ability to penetrate the line of scrimmage will get him consideration as a pass-rushing linebacker in a 3-4 system.
PROJECTION: Undrafted Free Agent
lots to work with
in terms of trading up (especially since we’ll have the last pick after winning the sb)
Numers for new players in
RB Felix Jones will be No. 28
CB Mike Jenkins will take Roy Williams’ No. 31
TE Martellus Bennett is No. 80
CB Pacman Jones will wear No. 21
And of course Roy Williams is switching to No. 38 (his number at Oklahoma).
