First UDFA Signing
According to theDMN blog we have signed our first UDFA, a guy that is being compared to Wes Welker, partly because they are Texas Tech Alums.
The Cowboys didn't draft a receiver, but they have added at least one through college free agency - Texas Tech's Danny Amendola.
He had 109 catches for 1,245 yards and six touchdowns for the Red Raiders in 2007. The Cowboys would really like to see Amendola develop into another Tech receiver, Wes Welker, who lit it up last year in New England. They have similar builds - Amendola is 5-10, 183, Welker is 5-8, 185 - and excelled as slot receivers in Mike Leach's offense.
Sounds like a pretty decent pick up. We'll see if he makes it through training camp.

I think those stats might be a little inflated considering the other receivers that he was lining up with on the field, for example: Michael Crabtree

so what are you saying?
If he can put up those numbers with Crabtree on the field he should have no problem suceeding when he lines up in the slot next to TO. Same way that Welker led the AFC in receptions (tied w/ Houshmanzilly) last season with Moss next to him.

I don’t believe you can find welker’s cerebral play as well as toughness in this guy, I am really not getting my hopes up.
although, welker was passed on by the chargers I believe before landing in miami and then finally in new england

As an UDFA
Danny will have to prove himself. I can tell you right now he is just as tough as Welker. I guess we will have to wait until training camp to see if he can hack it, but I will definitely be rooting for him, and if he doesn’t make it here, another team will pick him up as soon as he is cut.
