Here's his profile at NFL Draft Countdown.

Here's a story about his "character" issues.

Sad story

Good kid, but the system in the conservative south works against his race. Hope he can eventually replace Marcus Spears on the roster.

Thanks for the hat tip Grizz

It’s a pretty sad but inspiring story. I hope this kid makes it.

I remember this story well

being in Atlanta, I couldn’t believe what they put that kid through

Sorry about the comment Grizz

I guess it was inappropriate. Maybe I’m missing something with the story, but isn’t sex with a minor when your an adult illegal whether it was consensual or not. I’m guessing because there was no cooperation by the victim’s side he was acquitted? I hope the kid works out, but I’m sure the media is going to question this signing.

Interesting.....I had checked out this dude for a while....but I felt his issues would keep him away.....

HIS Team mate Kendell Langford was the DE I wanted …...went to Miami in the 3rd round….Langford was much better than this kid…but we do need bodies to compete and upgrade our DL…..I don’t see this guy making it as a DE…..and probably not stout enough to be a NT consideration…

A true diehard Cowboys fan since 1975.

He was featured on ESPN though....and I felt for him...and I hope he makes it...

I see him making our practice squad…..

after what Dixon has been through...

... i’m sure he’s gonna have plenty of incentive to succeed in the NFL.

I hope he makes it and I hope he makes it as a productive member of the Dallas Cowboys.

His weaknesses...

...seem like they could be improved with good coaching.

Yeh

He didn’t get the best chance at Hampton.

by Brandon Worley on Apr 27, 2008 9:23 PM CDT up reply actions

he'll have a tough time making the team

since we’re so stacked at DE, probably practice squad material.

NT

Dallas didn’t need a NT we signed Junior Siavii. 330 Pound big body. He can rotate him with Tank. Another option is let Marcus Spears blew up like you knew he wants to and make him play the nose.

by Wmillion on Apr 27, 2008 9:57 PM CDT reply actions

He's not built right.

I don’t think he’s got the right kind of frame to play the nose in the 3-4.

Second Chances

I hope the kid gets his life on track, whether (long-term) it be on the field or not. Be a little careful, though, before you condemn America and the south and blame his problems on race. It may be a good idea to do a little research.

Jack, Jack, Jack

Which part of the article looks false? Exactly what research do you need to tell you things ain’t quite a level playing field? hmmmm…

None

I don’t think any of the article is false. The author makes clear his intent from the opening sentence regarding the trial, though. His intent is not to impartially recount facts, but to evoke emotion from the reader. He immediately paints the picture of small-town, poor, white, southerners. In the author’s mind, this can only mean they are racists. He continues with this theme throughout the article, identifying nearly everyone by their respective race. Although he uses vivid detail in most aspects of the story, the author moves quickly past the most important part: a jury of 9 whites and 3 blacks convicted the defendant in only 20 minutes. Under Georgia law, all convictions, whether misdemeanor or felony, must be unanimous. So, how is Dixon the victim of a racist system when 3 black jurors immediately agreed that he committed the crime? In only 20 minutes of deliberation, I doubt the black members of the jury were intimidated by the others.

If he was being honest, the author should have focused on the fact that Dixon served too long of a sentence. To paint him as an innocent man and the victim of racism is clearly over-reaching.

Understood

I definitely appreciate your discretion/restraint. There is no need to kill the happy fun time sports mood by turning this into some sort of race relations blog.

Great Article on this kid

I’m on his “pet cat” bandwagon for sure. He’ll have a hard time making the team, but if he shows potential, I hope he makes it somewhere. He certainly deserves a few breaks after the shyt he’s been through.

ahh, more slow , can't get enough of that I guess!

maybe could make a Nosetackle out of him if he adds some tonage

by bad knees on Apr 28, 2008 1:15 AM CDT reply actions

That might be the plan.

The analysis I read said that he could be seen as 3-4 end or a tackle since he has the frame to add some bulk. They’re probably considering him as a Ratliff type that can back up both spots on the D-Line.
