What do you think about Dallas trading for Chris Simms?
Gruden has to lighten up his load at QB, especially since he drafted another player at that position on Sunday. Rumors during the draft were speculating that Chris Simms wants to move on from Tampa Bay. It didn't hit me until this morning that he would be a really good fit as a backup to Romo. I know Brad Johnson's here, but bringing in Simms wouldn't stop the veteran's progress or anything.
What do you guys think?

Why trade when he is more than likely to be cut?

Chances are he will be cut
then it won’t cost Dallas anything but a look-see.

Gruden finally drafted a QB?
Did the stars align and I didn’t notice?
What’s next? The Raiders making the playoffs?

I wouldn't doubt
that he wants to leave, considering Tampa has more quarterbacks than the whole league combined. I don’t want him here, and I agree with JerrodWheeler that he’d get cut.

Someobody will take a chance on him. . .
Doubt anyone would trade for him, but he’ll probably get a chance to start somewhere (maybe Atlanta while Ryan is groomed?). Wouldn’t be a bad backup though. No worse than Brad Johnson and less expensive. Parcells may want him as a backup.

JP Losman...
is another QB that would be interesting. I don’t think the Bills will cut him (insurance), but he only has a year remaining on his rookie contract.
Although he’s nowhere near the player Romo is, he’s faster and has a stronger arm. Plus, he has that “gunslinger” mentality that Romo has.

He would be great but
he wants out of Buffalo because of the Trent Edwards situation. Don’t know how he’d feel knowing he’d come to Dallas as a guaranteed backup.
But if Romo (God forbid) went down, Losman is the perfect guy to lead this team.

Alot? I seem to remember almost everyone wanted him over Newman
And the year before. . .William Green was the big loss over Roy Williams being picked.

Chris Simms
Still isn’t healthy, I don’t think he ever will be. I continue to hear he is way off from being ready to compete in the NFL.

Simms sucks
I’d rather go another year with old man Johnson. I’m sure he could play until he’s 45 if he’s only a backup.

If he's cut, and he probably will be
The Cowboys should bring him in for a look.
How many QB’s does Tampa have on their roster now? I’m guessing 7.

Garcia, Griese, Josh Johnson (drafted), Luke McCown, Jake Plummer, Chris Simms, and Bruce Gradowski = 7, er 6 and a half.

Good God
That is ridiculous. I really hope Plummer comes back, wins the starters job, and then decides to retire to a hippie commune again.

I really can’t think of anything bad to say about jake plummer—especially that tough, manly beard he grew while he made that good playoff run with the broncos.

he knows how to win, but never really had any kind of cast around him.

I thought he was pretty classy
when he flipped off the broncos fans who booed him for throwing another INT. I think that’s when he decided he hated football.

I see better FA QB's out there.....
I’d take the “other” Tampa QB that is cut…....any of the others…
A true diehard Cowboys fan since 1975.
"If you don’t take him off the field as a coach, he will just about die out there," Jerry Jones said. "That impacted my decision. It’s a Michael Irvin-type work ethic. That’s what we are talking about with Felix Jones."
