Lets Give Jerry's Boy Some Credit......
Hey, Grats to Stephen Jones and all the little people in the draft room during the second round of the draft this year for holding firm against Jerry's efforts to trade up for WR Hardy. Hadn't heard it mentioned yet, but after the latest incident involving Hardy and domestic violence...allegedly involving a firearm, against his FATHER........ I think Stephen deserves a big Congrats for suggesting Jerry go get some dinner when He was trying to trade up for this moron.
Now, I will argue to my dieing day that, if Limas Sweed had been the guy Jerry was trying to go up and get, then I think they should of done so....i think hes going to have a great career, and the Steelers got the steal of the draft in the mid second round...... but .... please give me a fast-talking, quick-thinking prototype numbers TE in Bennett, over a girlfriend/father beater...multiple offense type of thug at WR.
Anyway, go Cowboys...............

I disagree
I think the steal of the draft was Scandrick in the 5th rd and also Choice in the 4th. I see those 2 players becoming big time players for us.

I will agree with you that Choice is …choice =) and Scandrick has the potential to be a good player for a good amount of time. I love both of their picks and cant wait to see their Cowboy careers unfold, but I just got a feeling that Sweed will be something special. The Cowboys didnt get him so he wont be our best STEAL, but damn I just think hes going to be THE steal of this draft.
We still make out well with Choice and Scandrick , and they are great picks at their spots but all I was saying is that Stephen made a great call opposing Hardy, for whatever reason, and standing firm to take the best pick when the Cowboys came up to draft.
BUT….
I still think that if Jerry had been trying to trade up for Sweed instead of Hardy, then Id be killing Stephen if he had opposed Jerry trying to trade up the 10 spots for him. But ultimately it seems a good call and we got the better of the 2 prospects with Bennett over Hardy.
Anyway, It is becoming interesting to see our next GM/OWNER flexing his muscle/growing into his role… Jerry wont live forever and Stephen seems to at least know WTH is happening. His growth should be an interesting development for us Cowboy fans =)
ANyway, Go Cowboys…....

Sweed was too risky IMO
he has boom or bust written all over him and that wrist injury is very concerning as well. I just don’t see an average player in Sweed, he’ll be either really great or a big time scrub. Since he was drafted by the Steelers, I’m hoping big time scrub.

+1
Stephen Jones is lost in the shadow of his Dad, but he’s doing a fantastic job behind the scenes getting players signed at a fair price for both sides.

That's why I dig Stephen Jones
He’s done a great job of managing our cap recently and getting reasonable deals done.

And
we may be looking at the heir apparent to run the America’s Team—whenever da King either passes away or gives up his GM duties (with the former more likelier to happen).

I don't think Stephen Jones was beating up Jerry
This isn’t the Steinbrenner family here…
Oh, did you mean Henry?

Wow, Im actually a bit suprised, but extremely happy, by the responses. I know most of us assume that Stephen will be our next demi-god but i didnt , expect such a blaise/willingness to accept it attitude towards it.. I guess that means that Stephen is doing a good job in all of our eyes…. Ive always thought so but you never know when it comes to the Cowboys nation.
I still have to agree to disagree with Terry…. thats a good thing though =).. about Sweed. Dispite his wrist injury, this guy is golden and will be a factor in the NFL for the next 10 years. Too bad its going to be for the Steelers ands not our beloved Cowboys.
Again, Grats to Stephen Jones for standing firm against trading up in this years second round to grab James Hardy. I know hindsight is golden but hey its nice to see peeps in the head office stick to their guns and downgrade him for an not so obvious need…sticking to the board and not trading up, or reaching.
It seems to have worked out at least in this case…....
No more head cases, especially if they arent top 10 quality =p
