Mendenhall robbed at gunpoint in Chicago

First NY Knicks center Eddy Curry, then Miami Heat forward Antoine Walker, and now Illinois RB Rashard Mendenhall, robbed at gunpoint in Chicago. What is it with Chicago, Illinois? This wouldn't happen if Barack Obama represented--nah, never mind.

Steelers new running back Mendenhall robbed at gunpoint

Updated: May 5, 2008, 8:17 PM ET

Another famous Chicago athlete was victimized early Monday morning.

Pittsburgh Steelers first-round draft choice Rashard Mendenhall was robbed at gunpoint while walking along the city's lakefront, his agent and mother said.

The former Illinois running back was with another companion along the South Side walkway when he was robbed of his wallet, phone and cash, sources familiar with the investigation told the Chicago Sun-Times.

"It was obviously a scary moment," his agent Mike McCartney said, according to the Sun-Times. "But he is fine. He is doing great. He said he doesn't have anything that is worth his life."

Reports said the two alleged perpetrators wore black hoodies and ski masks.

He's off to a nice start.....first a pulled hammy....now this...

A true diehard Cowboys fan since 1975.

"If you don’t take him off the field as a coach, he will just about die out there," Jerry Jones said. "That impacted my decision. It’s a Michael Irvin-type work ethic. That’s what we are talking about with Felix Jones."

Well, I think we can all agree that this ends the debate once and for all...

This would never happen to Felix the Cat… he’d be doing some sort of ninja thingy on those dudes. So he’s cooler.

okay, just kidding … I feel sorry for the guy, he’s out trying to warm up a bum hammy and this happens?

He was trying to warm it up at 2 AM?

Gotta be careful walking around any big city that late.

The kid is have having a bad week. First he slides all the way to #23, losing out on the big money. Then pulls a hammy, then gets robbed at gunpoint. If bad things happen in 3’s, then he should be alright from here on out.
