Koren Robinson
I read earlier that he was released by the Packers. That was a head-scratcher, because I was under the impression that he did pretty well when he returned upon the end of his suspension. Or at least that's what other people were saying.
From: BSPN
The Green Bay Packers released Koren Robinson on Friday, the latest setback for the veteran wide receiver trying to resurrect his career after serving an NFL suspension and jail time.
Not long after Green Bay signed the 6-foot-2, 205-pound Robinson in 2006, the league suspended him for a year for alcohol-related problems.
He sought treatment that included attending Alcoholics Anonymous meetings and taking a drug that would make him sick if he drank alcohol again.
When he was reinstated to the league he appeared to have put his troubles behind him. Teammates said they were impressed by his work ethic and his obvious efforts to stay clean.
Maybe the Packers simply felt he didn't fit in their future plans, maybe he's lost his effectiveness, I don't know (only game I saw him play in was the playoff game against the Seahawks)
What do you guys think? Would he be someone worth a look? He does seem to have his head on straight and isn't on the brink of suspension ala Chris Henry.

Why is it?
That every time a guy gets cut EVERYONE has to speculate whether or not he should be signed by the Cowboys. This is the main thing that irritates me about the internet and blogs. Please people, get a a life. This has been my pet peeve for a couple years now. Get to know your your team and its needs before you randomly speculate who the Cowboys should be interested in.

My pet peeve. . .
Is being told to learn my team and stop speculating by a friend of the family that thinks getting held up at gun point is a potential character issue. NICE!
While WR isn’t a HUGE need, its not poor speculation to think about K. Robinson. He’s got skills, but has always had challenges staying clean/focused, et al. Some maturity and corrections might have him in a place where he could be more successful in the league. My own take is a pass on him as he doesn’t bring more than we have. . .Might be the same issue for the Packers – they are LOADED at WR.
The other thing that got my attention was the number of guys with silly talent that are in trouble with the law/league for criminal activity. Its really astounding the amount of ‘reclamation projects’ there are that could really help a team out. Chris Henry, Adam Jones, Koren Robinson, Odel. . .these are really talented players (some more than others) that are pissing away their careers. Sad, huh. . .

First of all
WR is NOT a “HUGE” need. We had the #2 passing offence in the league with the receivers we have on this team right now. The Titans have a HUGE need at WR. The Dolphins have a “HUGE” need at WR. The Cowboys do not. TO is getting up there in years and TG hasnt played in a year. But somehow this team figured out how to pass for more yards in team history with these guys. Not a “HUGE” need.
My point about Mendenhall was more about his work ethic then him being out in the bad part of Chicago tat 2am, He pulled a hamnmie his first day of camp I believe because he was not properly in shape. We received reports from his college coaches that he does not work that hard unless he is the starter.

You're right
Let’s not sign or draft any WR’s until TO, TG, Crayton and everybody else are gone. We won’t need anybody till then.

And I say keep on posting it Nelson...
There’s nothing wrong with speculating about a player like Koren Robinson. We’ve talked about WR as a need and he’s a guy who has some talent.

Be thankful players are considering Dallas
because there was a time when free agents wouldn’t give us a second thought, other than to force others to ante up the price.

He used to have a problem with...
... the dropsies when he was in Seattle.
Also, keep in mind, he’s only been familiar with team’s running da WCO (Seahawks, Vikings, Packers).
I read - I think on PFT - that Philly could be interested.
I honestly wouldn’t mind us taking a look-see.

there's a lot of speculation about players coming to Dallas
because a lot of players do in fact want to come to Dallas. I can see how it gets irritating whenever a player that seems to have problems, either character issues or just personal in terms of not getting along or liking their situation with their current team, Dallas gets brought up, but I’d say it’s more of a positive thing because 1) there’s a lot of authentic Dallas fans out there, and 2) we are an elite team and serious SB contender this year, so no wonder players give it a thought….

PASS
He might have something left to offer but with Pacman on the roster and Tank and TO staying calm, let’s not rock the boat. This team has enough players with issues and the coaches need to focus on getting everyone tuned up and plugged in for the season, not bringing in more guys who are apt to make the news for all the wrong reasons.

For the record
Robinson has yet to comment of his release, nor has he mentioned any potential teams he’d like to play for. So this really isn’t another example of a “troubled player wants to be a Cowboy” story….yet.

I'd take Tank of that list
He is not in the same class as Pacman and Henry.

This LINK should put a rest to this Robinson talk.....

A true diehard Cowboys fan since 1975.
"If you don’t take him off the field as a coach, he will just about die out there," Jerry Jones said. "That impacted my decision. It’s a Michael Irvin-type work ethic. That’s what we are talking about with Felix Jones."

It's fun for us.....
Don’t you think EVERY owner looks at EVERY player that has been cut, released, hits waivers, or is even rumored to be unhappy with his current team and wants out….???!!?
They might not comment on them all, but every owner looks at all these players and probably says:
1) do we need someone at that position?
2) do we want someone at that position?
3) is someone with this ‘baggage’ worth it?
4) is the upside better than the downside?
i bet if the answer is ‘yes’ to a few of these, they probably consider taking a look at the guy….
that’s all were doing, but with ‘monopoly’ players… just for fun..
