Rookie season proves difficult for many receivers
We often talk about how wide receivers aren't usually expected to contribute much as rookies because the learning and conditioning curve in the pros is so steep. This Sporting News article gets into some of the reasons and looks at the production of a few receivers from last year's draft class, and the training and challenges they go through as rookies. There's no Cowboys in the list, obviously (there is one division rival), but there's this mention that I figured justified posting it here, along with the general interest for those receiver watchers among us... "Then comes the acid test," Colts general manager Bill Polian says. "How do they hold up when a safety like (Dallas' Ken) Hamlin comes to separate their head from their shoulders?"
