Running Back Talent Available...
This is the first year that I can remember that there are so many "established" running backs as free agents this late in the year. We're talking about guys that were good contributors last year or the year before that can't even find jobs right now.
1. Shaun Alexander (former MVP... c'mon...)
2. Kevin Jones (7 less yards than Julius last year, but had 6 more TDs)
3. LaMont Jordan (2 years removed from 1600 total yards and 11 TDs)
4. Ron Dayne (older, but had 770+ yards last year)
5. Samkon Gado (young guy who shouldered the load BRIEFLY in GB)
6. Michael Pittman (alright, i'm reaching a little on this one...)
And yet somehow Vinny Testaverde can play QB... the nfl sure is strange.

Shaun Alexander is garbage...
He owes that MVP to Steve Hutchinson and Walter Jones…
If you watched that dude at all this year, it’s painfully obvious he’s just not a very good running back…
Kevin Jones and LaMont Jordan both have pretty glaring injury issues, and I’m not sure either one can really be considered established NFL commodities…
Dayne, Gado, and Pittman are all spare parts… Why waste money on those guys when you can draft a younger, cheaper back with more upside in the 3rd or 4th rounds?
I'll take the Rookies
Shaun is defintely garbage, the guy can’t find a job.. Now that is funny..
Kevin Jones had devasting injury- they said best case PUP, worst case doesn’t play at all this season.
Lamont has a lingering injury he couldn’t even get on the field last year.
Pittman is on the Broncos.
Gado and Dayne will find a team by week 4 though, neither one is special.
As for Vinny he is better one leg then Carr on two.

This is why running backs try to cash in
with a big contract early in their career. They are totally expendable with many rookies able to come in and contribute their first year. If they keep in shape they can probably catch on with a team mid season but Alexander is done. He got his mega contract on the downside of his career and has flamed out completely.
Oh yes
Peter King says sign your star RB to a long term deal early and never re-sign him after that- I agree. LT, Emmitt, and few others are the exception to the rule, but everyone of those they are 20 others who decline..
He says even if AP kills for the next 4 years, let him go, you don’t want to be the team paying him 10+ million when he starts to breakdown. Don’t try to catch the falling knife..

With all due respect
my preference of the RBs listed is…
“None of the Above.”
I actually like our depth
MB3/The Barbarian
El Gato
T-Choice
Plus, the rookie backups won’t cost as much.

oh yeah
our RB combination over any of those guys, i see all kinda highlights comin from the RB position this year.
OH PLEEEEEZZZZZZZZ
Why would anybody want shaun “turf monster” alexander who is the one of the softest runners i’ve ever seen, Kevin jones who is coming off many injuries. Yeah, i agree with Lamont Jordan. Ron Dayne is as old as my grandma, samkon gado sucked in houston, and michael pittman just flat out stinks. well, you got one out of six right
Hey! Why isn't Tyson Thompson listed here?
Maybe we should put some plugs in for our former #3 of the last few years. I’d like to see him get on with another team.
Desperados? Can he play DB?
That #38 sure can hit!
