Warning- Brett Favre Vent Ahead!
I have had it up to my (receding) hairline with all of this Brett Favre drama. "I'm retiring. No wait, I'm not retiring. I'm gonna report to training camp. No wait, I might not report. I'm burned out. No wait, I really want to play but The Packers don't love me any more". Jesuchristo Brett! Give us a break! How long have you been playing? 17 years? Are you expecting us to believe you don't know yourself enough that after a season you might have temporary feelings of depression and doubt that you can handle another season? What about last year? You did it right then by laying low and taking stock and coming to an informed and patient decision. What happened this year? What? You were pressured into that tearful goodbye speech? Poor baby! Here's a hanky.
Brett, as a FYI, your nice little yellow jacket is in reserve in a little town called Canton. Do us all a favor and disappear for about five years and it will be yours. And do it without another exit speech, OK? I can't take any more drama.

LEAVE THE GUY ALONE
this is a big descion that favre has to make. You have to decide whether you want to go through the rigors of training camp, and go thorugh a long, tough season. When he did wait the whole summer last time to make his decision, he took a lot of heat for it. Now that he made his decision early, he’s taking more heat because he wants to make his comeback. LEAVE THE GUY ALONE.
I would feel the same way
If he didn’t do this the 2 years before this season, too. Apparently McCarthy even called him and gave him the “are you REALLY REALLY sure” bit after he announced his retirement over the summer.
I don’t feel sympathy for Favre. I do feel sympathy for the Packers, who have been put in an impossible situation. I think ultimately they will have a crisis in the city (and locker room) if he plays elsewhere, but I don’t know what they can do. Every team that truly needs him is in the NFC.
Hopefully he gets shipped out to Baltimore or something, but Tampa is where he’s going to end up if not GB.
He does deserve some blame though
for the way he’s handled the whole situation. I don’t know if it’s just me, but he doesn’t seem to feel any remorse for the heat the Packers are taking out of this. If he’d been saying, “This was the last thing I wanted out of this” or “I’m truly sorry to the Packers for all the drama I’ve caused” I’d be ok; however, he seems concerned with only Brett. It’s like he’s taken a mentality that the Packers are all about him. Last time I checked there were 52 other guys on the team.
My popcorn's ready!
I feel you Far Rider
but I’m just glad another team besides the cowboys are being analyzed to death all over ESPN.
What Got Me Started
was the fact that on the week of his”retirement”, NFL Network was going to replay Super Bowl XXVII in it’s entirety. I had never see the game and was as excited as a person could be. Then they substituted several of his “signature” games and it never was telecast. I have been hopping mad ever since.

I agree
He shouldn’t have made that retirement speech in March, way too soon. Now he’s trying to put all the blame on the Packers. Since his “itch” blossomed into a full blown soap opera, I’ve listened to experts say A) He’ll get released, B) He’ll get traded to an AFC team, C) He’ll end up playing for the Packers (suck it Rodgers). Each possibility as likely as the others. I don’t know, and I don’t care, but I find it funny, and glad that GB is the target of the media firestorm and not Dallas.
T-New, shutting down WR's for Dallas since 2003
If you cry at your retirement press conference
you should be forbidden from ever playing the game again. Call it the crybaby rule.

lol....i'm aboard with that rule......retire already...
you made your bed Brett…...now piss in it….17 years is enough already…...It would be an injustice to the Pack for him to come back now….ummm….they used 2 draft picks on QB’s this season….....not in the plans Brett.
A true diehard Cowboys fan since 1975.
"If you don’t take him off the field as a coach, he will just about die out there," Jerry Jones said. "That impacted my decision. It’s a Michael Irvin-type work ethic. That’s what we are talking about with Felix Jones."

All Of Our Greats
have done it (Aikman, Irvin, Smith), but have had the class to ride off into the sunset and become sports commentators.

umm
aikman and irvin didnt have a choice they retired based on injury. Smith with to AZ when he should of just retired too.
What the French?! Toast!
You're Right
about Irvin, but didn’t Aikman toy with the idea of playing for San Diego briefly? In any case, they all did weep and all did become analyst, excusing Emmitt of course ;-)

so according to my rule
they cannot unretire. I don’t recall Roger Staubach crying at his retirement press conference, so he is free to make a comeback

I'll Buy That.
Greetings from across the Delaware River by the way.

Like Emmitt
Maybe Bret wants to pat his stats so it’s harder for the younger guys to reach his records. I think that’s what Rice did too.

I'm glad he's doing this.
Any chance that Green Bay had of being a contender is right out the window.

As always...
I’m not as tired of Brett as I am with every single media outlet reporting the same pieces of information 342,017 times a day. It’s the number one story out right now – baseball finally started back up after the break so maybe that’ll offer some relief. I’m not a Favre fan, but I’d rather take the easy road and blame the media for the over-coverage.
Right now, i feel like if he sneezed and farted at the same time (snarted, or feezed, if you will…) and it sounded like Ted Thompson’s name, John Clayton would be explaining the relevance on Sportscenter morning, noon, and night.

In a way I hope he DOES come back to GB
He’ll guide them through the regular season and then throw an UGLY, just at the wrong time interception to get them tossed out of the playoff’s. AGAIN!!!!!
and Madden will excuse the INT
by saying Favre is just having fun out there.

It won't matter anyhow!!!
As some announcer pointed out last year, Favre is just an OLD Tony Romo :-)
Nice.
And really, we own Favre. We should all hope he does come back.
