Dallas Cowboys quick notes
The Cowboys are pulling into Oxnard this afternoon and training camp officially kicks off tomorrow. A couple of issues are waiting to be resolved before all the pieces fall into place.
Terry Glenn:
JJT says don't expect Glenn to play for the Cowboys this year.
He has until 4 PM today to sign the injury waiver or face being cut by the team. Personally, I really hope he can work things out with the Cowboys but I just don't think it will happen. I think Glenn was always a great person and receiver and was quietly one of the best receivers in the game. Its a shame that is has come down to this.
Felix Jones and Mike Jenkins:
The Cowboys' two first-round draft picks have yet to sign their contracts and could affect whether they join the team in CA today. Tashard Choice signed yesterday (thanks Deke) and it was just announced that Martellus Bennett has signed his contract as well (thanks Mandmeisterx). I am sure that the Joneses are working overtime to get things taken care of, but most likely we will see the Cat and Jenkins joining the team in a few days
We will be updating throughout the day today on the Glenn situation as well as the draft pick contract situation.
In the meantime, enjoy an excellent article covering star of stage and screen Tony Curtis.
BTB regular scottmaui says you should check out this story on the Cat as well.

Anyone
besides me that thinks Patrick Crayton is praying the TG does not sign? Maybe he was a bit spooked by TG’s return late last season and this is what gets him off the snide? I sure hope he has more professionalism than that but one never knows

+1
Crayton doesn’t want TG to sign. If TG is healthy he is a much better option than Crayton, but I don’t believe he is. I really think Austin is going to push Crayton as the #2 this camp. I’m really hoping he does get it.
That said, I don’t TG will be on this team after this week. Hopefully I’m wrong about that.

1st round players
Looks like some of the guys around our 1st rounders have signed, so It should be easy to work off of those number..

Hoping against hope
Terry Glenn isn’t and wont be healthy again until he has Micro fracture surgery, something that clearly should of been taken care of last season when the team doctors advised him so, instead Glenn elected to have the Cartilage, which acts as a shock absorber for the kne, removed instead. I like Terry Glenn, always thought he was a very underated receiver in the NFL, and was ecstatic when we aquired him from Green bay for a sixth round draft choice, but this saga has to come to an end. I figured figured Jerry would of raised the signing waiver to $750,000 as Jerry always loves his players to a fault at times and that Glenn would sign it, but right now I think Glenn is being unreasonable. He was paid a full salary last year and contributed nothing, didn’t take advice of the team doctors and now expects a full salary on a knee that clearly wont hold up for the season. Even if Glenn signs the waiver, there’s talk of Dallas placing him on the PUP list at the start of camp, if that’s what there thinking is, then I’m sorry to say it, but its time to cut Glenn and move on.

micro fracture surgery would have more than likely
ended Glenn’s career as very few pro athletes come back from that type of surgery. His best bet was to play through the pain, but as someone who has the same condition, thats very tough to do.
Glenn gave it his best shot, thats all we can ask of him.

I'd compromise down to a million
if i was Jerry because Glenn is a capable #1 receiver in this league when healthy and would be needed if something happened to T.O. I think both sides have some leverage to reach a compromise.

The key is
Glenn is a capable #1 receiver in this league when healthy
But we all know he’s not healthy, Terry Glenn failed a team physical after the season last year and failed one again in this spring, and now there’s talk that the cowboys would place him on the PUP list if Glenn would sign the $500,000 waiver, that should sound off lots of bells with his abiity to come back and contribute. I wish things were the opposite, but it doesn’t look good at all for Glenn making this roster.

I think they only do that
because they don’t want to risk him to injury in preseason. A polished wr like Glenn doesn’t need training camp, let him sit out the preseason entirely as his knees only have so many games left in them.
Hopefully that number is 19 this season.

You would think
He nees some Reps in training camp, he hasn’t played in over a year. While he is out, Romo will be building rapport with someone else. Seems like the timing with him and Romo would suffer.
I don’t know a WR who skips training camp?

TG is a polished and seasoned vet
He and Romo could get their timing down in a few weeks after camp in practice, it wouldn’t take that long with those two.

blowing smoke?
When has that ever happened? A guy is out for over a year, can’t practice or play, and then all the sudden he is ready to play?
I don’t see it, either he comes to camp or hits the streets..

he's been catching passes from Romo
all off season, I’m telling you he doesn’t need camp, he’d be fine.

Right on, Deke
TG tried his best to play through pain but it was his decision to not get surgery and he was paid handsomely for the risk. This year is all about NOW and if he had any confidence in his knee, he would sign this waiver. I predict he signs with Miami and is on injured reserve by week 4.
Thanks for the memories TG!

it still doesn't work for me in Safari
but I tried it in Firefox and it worked fine, so it must be a problem with the forwarding URL and the browser, not the link…

Tony Curtis
I personally know Tony Curtis from Junior College, good guy, and super athlete. I hope they give him opportunity to show he can do big things. I think he can be a dynamic pass catching TE for us. I have seen this guy dunk on several people with the greatest of ease.
Thanks for the info..

3 catches, 3 TDs
has there ever been a player before whose first three catches in the NFL were all TDs?

Matt Mosley
Said he thought the deal would get worked out eventually. Intersted to see if Jerry keeps his word and cuts him..

Unless there is something we don't know
I would like to see both sides come together on this…
Terry needs to realize that last year he got paid a TON to do nothing to help the team, and that asking for $1.75M this year is rediculous with the uncertainty of the knee, is rediculous…
On the other hand, what is another $250K to Jerry… (this is assuming an offer of $750K was ever or would be made)
Having Glenn even with the uncertainty for $750K this year, or if he plays all year he gets his $1.75M is absolutely worth it.
I am not saying if he gets hurt in camp it’s worth it, but we don’t know that, if we did we would not be debating the situation.
he is worth $1.75M unhurt and playing, he is worth $750K to roll the dice MUCH like some other players the UP side to this far out weighs the down side.

time to move on
nothing against TG,but after last years lack of production, it”s hard for me to go along with the position he”s taken this year. I think the waiver is justified. if his heart was here the waiver would”nt be a problem, glad there”s a deadline, ready for this story to go away one way or the other.

yeah, I've been rooting for him
and I’ll still be glad if he works something out, and just because he’s not on the flight just means they haven’t worked it out yet, it doesn’t mean they won’t still.
But looking at the positive side if it doesn’t work out (and assuming no other vet WR comes from a trade), it would just give more opportunity for Hurd, Austin and Stanback to step up and shine, and room for perhaps Amendola to make the final roster.
