My friends call me Pacman...you can call me Adam

I really like the way this guy is competing and the things he is saying.  I know the whole "Tennessee sucks" thing wasn't great, but this Q & A on DC.com is a good read and shows the fire this guy has to compete.

He also sheds some light on his nickname - When the media asks him why would he shed his nickname Pacman -

JONES: I'm not really shedding the nickname. That's just for ya'll that I'm shedding the nickname. All of my teammates call me Pacman.

Anyway, looks like this kid is doing and saying all the right things so I feel confident that this controversial trade by the Cowboys is going to pay huge dividends when the season starts.  Another A rated GM move by the organization.

AJ

If he can keep his nose clean, he can have the type of affect on our team, like Moss had on the Pats last year..

The Media and the fans are going to be pissed..

You know Terry, for someone quick to point out haters

you sure do hate on this guy a lot. I am not going to argue that he has had a horrible past and deserves the infamy but what more do you want from this guy than what we have seen so far? I am estatic about his presence in our secondary and think it will translate into wins so I just don’t get your absolute refusal to embrace this guy in the slightest.

LOL

As much as he loves Romo, he hates AJ..

wow, a few weeks go by without Pacrat

mauling a stripper and you think he’s a choir boy, now thats funny.

He’s got to show me he can walk the straight and narrow for a lot longer than the off season, although the guy is thug and punk and that won’t change.

I didn't say he was a choir boy

I said he is doing and saying all the right things which is all we can ask of him at this point.
I also said that for somebody who has proved to be so sensitive to “haters” over the last few years, you sure are doing a good imitation of one with this guy.

by Billito on Jul 28, 2008 12:44 PM CDT reply actions

there is a difference

I don’t hate Pacrat as a player, I disrespect him as a person because of his past transgressions. In the past, when I’ve talked about bloggers being “haters”, I meant it as hating the player, not the person.

Pacrat is a very talented player who will help the team if he can stay on the field so I don’t hate him as a player at all, although I think he’s a bit overrated in most Cowboys fans eyes, but its going to take a while before my opinion changes of him as a person.

Telling the press that they aren’t good enough to call him Pacman isn’t going to help that much.

I get what you are saying

but after watching TO and Tank respond the way they have to the cowboys, I feel very confident about Pacman doing the same.
He knows he almost blew it and is staying out of trouble but that doesn’t mean he should be a personality-less droid. I can’t blame him for being a bit gun shy with the press right now and I also think he is still somewhat immature but with a veteran backfield and guys like TO, Irvin and Primetime in his ear, I think he is going to develop into an all pro in a season or two.

by Billito on Jul 28, 2008 1:57 PM CDT reply actions

I hope you're right

I just can’t be optimistic since he’s screwed up so many times before. Maybe his new entourage lead by Irvin and Sanders will do the trick, only time will tell.

Pacin Heat Man Jones is trash..

He is nothing but a ghetto thug. His little 5’ 8” scrawny ass is gonna get dominated by the G-men. If you think the Plax’s domination of Al Harris was something to see, wait till you see him push around Pacin Heat Man like my niece’s rag doll.

Troll alert, Troll alert!!!

Is that you Justin Tuck?? I figued since you were so tired of hearing about the cowboy, that would actually have better things to do than to read cowboy blogs… I guess it’s your secret desire to play for the cowboys, a star always looks better on a helmet than the NY letters

positive thoughts brings positive actions, Pacrat sounds kinda negative

I like the way Pac is competing out there

Seeking out TO every chance he gets, even though he gets beat most of the time, is a good thing. IMO

Side note: ESPN reported Goodell’s reinstatement decision will come before Aug 26th, when teams cut the roster to 75 players. I don’t have a link, just heard it on SC.

Wow

I just dont get how men can call another man a thug or punk. No one has walked in Pacman’s shoes except Pacman. I mean, I heard Chris Myers say “Adam Jones is trash.” Thats just crazy to me. The way I came up, callin somebody a punk is betting your life that that is exactly what they are.

Dude has made a lot of bad choices, but you will never hear me call another grown man something other than his name unless I’m ready to fight. Thats just man law.

And as far as his actions so far, I hope he has changed. Anything he does that is positive is cool with me. So lets stop hatin and encourage the man.

Amen

And when you talked about no one walking in Pacman’s shoes except Pacman, think on this. The guy, based on his past actions, has become a carcass that media circles around. It’s the same thing as TO – anything he does is immediately perceived as negative, and all of those writers want to break the story of Pacman doing something bad again. He knows it, they know it, and they both know the other knows it.

So when he says something like about how Tennessee sucked, and prefaced it by saying he didn’t mean anything bad about the place (take it for what you will, at least he qualified it), I think it’s a slight overreaction to bash him. He’s still figuring out how to run his life right, how to answer tough questions to reporters, etc., but the guy obviously wants a better life and a clean slate for himself. I think Prime Time has played a huge part in showing him how. It’s better for everyone – the league, the community, his family, the Cowboys, the fans – if Pacman achieves it. Think about how you felt about TO before he came here, and how you feel about him now.

So when a guy is honest that his bad too, I don’t understand how telling the truth gets you crucified.
In his mind sucked, in comparison sucks in comparison to Atlanta and Dallas.

I have been to Tennessee I am not a fan.

when you walk and talk like a thug, and have no hold on the english language..

and hang out with people who spray nightclubs with bullets i’d say that’s a thug.

Thats weak.

I dont really blame Pacman for the way he speaks. If you are familiar with his story it doesnt sound like his parents were all that concerned with his education, or him for that matter.

He like many others only got into college because he can ball. And there is nothin wrong with that.

Imagine what he would be doing if he didnt have football as a way out.

I don’t know Pacman, nor do I know any of the players on the cowboys. I root for them all because they are cowboys but to single out Pacman as a bad guy based on what we’ve seen and heard is dangerous. For all we know, some of the supposed “best” guys on the team could be rotten people to their family or something like that. We don’t know any of them so you can’t start judging.

Pac knows he almost threw away a dream life and I have seen nothing but positive behavior and attitude since the boys acquired him so I choose to believe that this young man learned his lesson and will continue to rebuild his life. Aside from that, I think the cowboys will reap the benefits of his rehab because there is no doubt he has a fire to play football and that is something that can’t be taught.

by Billito on Jul 29, 2008 7:59 AM CDT up reply actions

we're not judging Pacman because of how

he treats his friends or family, we’re judging him because he’s been arrested for crimes against society which is a huge difference.

You’re right, I could could care less how any player acts in his personal life towards others, I just care how his behavior affects his status as a Dallas Cowboy and since Pacman’s past behavior got him suspended from the league for an entire year, Cowboys fans are entitled to be judgmental in this regard.
