Monday Night Football - Packers/Bengals Open Thread
Well for whoever else might be watching the game, this is a week 3 and week 5 opponents preview. Monday Night Football premiers for the season, or at least on Monday night. The Aaron Rodgers era begins. He'll be under intense scrutiny, since the only thing we've all seen of him is his partial game against Dallas last year, after Nate Jones knocked Favre out of the game. He did well, but we didn't game plan against him. Meanwhile, can Ocho Cinco be productive after his pre-training camp shenanigans?

Rodgers looks good to me, can make all the throws...and....of course i've already stated he'll be a pro bowler within his first 3 years...
and will lead the Pack to the playoffs this season…

"If you don’t take him off the field as a coach, he will just about die out there," Jerry Jones said. "That impacted my decision. It’s a Michael Irvin-type work ethic. That’s what we are talking about with Felix Jones."

If Rogers doesn't have a good year, he'll get alot of the blame
but the packers have three young interior linemen. I think it was the best move for the Packers to move on and trade favre. Rogers has had alot of time to sit and develop behind favre and I, like you think he’s going to be a very good quarterback and lead the packers to the playoffs, The Packers are a very balance team with the only worry, the interior line

yeah, he looks pretty good
one INT but it wasn’t really his fault.
Meanwhile Carson Palmer has 13 total yards of offense and no first downs in three drives.

Cincy has no real consistant running game
that hurts the play action passing game.

Jones just got a Witten hatless play
he didn’t have to run as far, but he got into end zone. great highlight.

Whats going on with this guy
everyday its seems like there is always something going on with him.
TE Martellus Bennett confirmed that he miss the first 40 minutes or so of today’s practice because he was tending to a personal matter. Yes, it was the same personal matter that caused Bennett to miss Thursday afternoon’s practice.Bennett said the issue has been resolved, and that it doesn’t have anything to do with the NFL. Jerry Jones said he believes the issue was in the past and that Bennett was involved in an “observer-type role.”

"Old School" quarterback development
Chris Berman mentioned in his discussion about Aaron Rodgers that Rodgers had been developed in the “Old School” manner, which means that he sat and watched from the sidelines for two or three years. This was the way all quarterbacks used to be developed, according to Berman. Other starting quarterbacks that have been developed in the “Old School” way include Philip Rivers and Tony Romo. Ones being developed in this manner right now include Brady Quinn. Makes you think that the “Old School” coaches had it right, doesn’t it?

that was the way to do it pre "free agency" days......
teams had the luxury of developing QB’s behind the seasoned vet, with no fear of losing that player after 3-5 years….nor did they have salaries being tossed out to rookies that cripple the team from competing because of roster salary restraints….......it’s a “show me a return on my investment now” league now…..35 million dollar signing bonuses have discouraged the whole grooming process of old….it’s sad…...

VERY TRUE
Well put, different Era. Aaron Rodgers was Old School quarterback development, but if it was up to Favre he would still b seating another 2 years, right when he would be a FA..
