Kevin Burnett MRI OK, may still need a scope

Kevin Burnett had an MRI and apparently has no major damage in his knee. But there is a possibility he will have to have it scoped to remove loose cartilage.

If he does [have it scoped], obviously Burnett will not be available for Saturday's preseason game against the Broncos at Invesco Field at Mile High, but likely could recover in time for the Sept. 7 season opener at Cleveland.

We’ll know in a couple of days. My guess is he won’t be playing much in the Broncos game, scope or not. Captain Caveman could see a lot of time. Terence Newman is still two weeks away and Anthony Spencer is day-to-day.

So it turns out the Adam Jones/Brandon Marshall word skirmish is much ado about nothing, since they are boys and hang out together and call each other and blah, blah, blah.

Marshall saw the comments between practices and responded by wearing a sign across the back of his jersey in the second session that read: "21 is No Champ."

Translation: Jones, who wears jersey No. 21, is no (Broncos) cornerback Champ Bailey.

"I’ll have something better for him tomorrow," Marshall said.

Jones knows it.

"I saw what he had on his shoulder pads. It was all in fun," said a smiling Jones, as he climbed inside the team bus.

"That’s my boy. I’m sure he is going to call me tonight or I’m going to call him. I like competing. That’s what this is about."

Jerry Jones comments:

During the afternoon practice, Cowboys owner Jerry Jones raved about second-round pick Martellus Bennett, particularly pointing out his blocking. On the next two plays, Bennett sealed off the left side with a clearing block on a defensive end and then caught a pass over the middle for a 15-yard gain in team drills.

Jerry must have seen a preview of Hard Knocks and decided to single-handedly build Bennett’s confidence up.

Mickey Spags gives us clueless fans the facts, as only Mickey can see them, again.

Anthony Henry gets some JJT love.

Bennett was a complete disgrace last night

not only to himself but towards the entire cowboy team and organization.

He might of gotten a Steve Smith from me if I was standing there when he laughed at his position coach who was trying to motivate and get him focused on practice…

If he wasn’t a second round pick, but a fifth or sixth, he might be already been shown the door by what he showed last night. He might has ability but he’s got a poor attitude..

I guess all that enthusiasm he showed...

On draft day when he got the call from Jerry was less about “I’m gonna be a Cowboy” and more about “I’m gonna get paid.” Did the kid actually say for half the world to hear on HBO that he felt like a mule before they had tractors to plow the fields? I just don’t get it. Maybe the kid’s got some chemical imbalance because I can’t see how anyone in their right mind would be doing (or not doing) and saying the things he is and just plain pissing away the chance of 10 lifetimes. Maybe he needs some Zoloft or maybe he needs some Bigg.

I don’t like the way he responds to the coach. It should be yes coach, like this coach?!!

great article by Mickey

at least someone knows where I’m coming from regarding Johnson. Hey if Brad is good enough for Garrett, he sure as hell should be good enough for every Cowboys fan.

Eh.

The funny thing is that if Dallas brought in another QB tomorrow and cut Brad Johnson, Mickey would write an article about how it was his time to go, a change had to be made, blah blah blah, etc.

Mickey is Mr. Company Line in every article. One week – we don’t need to make this move, the coaching staff knew what they were doing. The next week after a change has been made – the writing has been on the wall and the coaching staff finally had to act, and so on. I appreciate his insight, but he and the other Dallas Cowboys.com guys can be pretty lame in their efforts to always make it sound like the team is doing exactly the right thing.

I disgaree

Mickey was simply saying that if Garrett likes Brad Johnson, why should fans or anyone else question BJ as our backup when our future great HC is on board with it, I think its an excellent point and has nothing to do with following the company line.

I really want to see more of Burnett

Granted he is injured, but I think he may be a star if given consistent playing time. Maybe have him take over if Thomas leaves after this season??

Burnett cant stay healthy

That’s his problem, thats why he wont be a starter here, its always something with him every year. You wont get the starters role unless he can be depended on to stay healthy and on the field, and Burnett cant. I dont see him being here next year.

true

He’ll be fine game 1..

Really??

Even if he cant stay healthy enough to be a starter, I dont think Jerry would just let him walk after he has become such a good nickel linebacker
