Possible WR Addition?

With Miles out for 4-6 weeks and recievers not named owens and crayton hardly producing is this the time to bring in a vetran WR? I'm thinking about someone who could contribute by the start of regular season. If Something were to hapen to T.O. or Crayton before Austin returns this offense would be severly limited.

I think the boys should consider taking a look at Terry Glenn(if he has gotten back into the flow of things). Or how about Koren Robinson? He' beens clean for over a year and can't bedemanding big time money. He's got experience returning kicks as well, so he could also do that if need be.

Is there anyone else out there or does Dallas wait this out and hope the young guys step up?

Dennis

not sure

Why we need a vet when scored 28 points a game last year without Austin..

Crayton hardly producing??

what games are you watching? I thought Crayton has looked pretty good this summer. If Austin had a more serious injury, I could see bringing someone in, but he’ll be back soon enough.

Koren Robinson?? You got to be kidding.

crayton

had 2 catches for 31 yards so far (both in the first game). that’s more production than either Witten or TO.

by scottmaui on Aug 18, 2008 12:07 PM CDT   0 recs

Yeah and crayton

had a very productive season last year.
Especially when you consider he was competing with witten,to and MBIII for touches.
He did have 60+ catches 600 yards recieving and 7 touchdowns……

Amendola will step up.....

Now that Austin is out — Amendola will step up and begin to get more opportunities. Once he proves himself on the field in the next couple pre-season games, hopefully they’ve have more confidence in their depth at receiver. Hurd isn’t bad either — he just needs Romo to be able to hit him on those deep post routes like Saturday night! :)

not really given an oppurtunity

We still have two guys in front of him who need some looks, so they are ready for the season..

Hurd and Stanback have caught every catchable ball..

we not desperate

our WRs are proving to be worthy, much improved from last year, catchn mostly everything comin their way, & all hungry for more playn time, we can stand Pat, unless a major injury occurs, but thats another story.

by bleedn blu on Aug 18, 2008 2:47 PM CDT   0 recs

Not what I said

I said reciever’s other than crayton and owens havent been producing. I’m not saying push the panic button but they need to at least consider bringing in someone, imo. Any injury to crayton or or T.O. would make Hurd a starter and stanback the third wr. I can’t see that not being a problem unless the team is playing below average squads. I’d like to have faith in the young guys and I suppose if Jerry doesnt bring in anyone it shows his confidence in the reserves.

Terry I’m not kidding about Koren. I think he would be very cheap (like these other guys with past issues). He’s always had speed and versatility. Just a thought

Wait it out

Austin should be back for the 2nd or 3rd game. Stanback and the WR’s below him should get more reps. I don’t see any advantage to bringing in another vet now.

I think the only way the Cowboys bring in another WR, is if :
a) someone is cut from another squad that the team scouts really like
b) if TO goes down with a serious injury.

Otherwise it’ll be TO, Crayton, Hurd, Austin, Stanback, and El Gato is better than any 6th WR

Chris Mort just reported

that Anquan Boldin requested a trade again from AZ. Evidently, Philly is rumored to be in the mix with Big D.

AZ needs to either pull the trigger or pay the guy, cuz I’m tired of being teased.

WOW.

Him to Philly would not be good..

Lito is getting up there in age and becoming injury prone

Nobody is giving up anything big for him the reason he wasn’t traded.

Boldin would want to go to a contender, not a franchise that is a year away from starting a first year QB and a RB turning 30 next year (Westbrook)

I’d do a first, a third, and a player (Roy) right now for Boldin…..

Bobby C has the most value

on this team right now than he’s had since his rookie year. It seems like the coaching staff will continue to give him plenty of opportunity in these next two games. I’d hate to give up on him and then see him tear it up like what happened with Jimmy Smith.

Plus, he kicks it with Romo and JWitt. He’s got to shine soon with that kindof support team!

I'm willing to part with Spears in a second if it means getting Boldin

Hatcher is a better all around DE anyway and the future probably. We might as well trade Spears while his trade value is decent, because he won’t be around to see the end of his contract. And, if he does I seriously doubt will get a new one. The guy has been average. The reason Wade has experimented with Ratliff at DE.

Leigh Bodden was the man.

I know Shaun Rogers is good, but good corners are tough to find. They let DE Simon Frazier go to who was a decent situational pass rusher. They’d better hope these new 300 pounders don’t sink the boat.

It would take something big for DAL to get him, and that sounds about right. Same with the Iggles. Now if a team like MIA, OAK, or KC would jump into the mix, AZ would likely take less for Boldin.

I would rather draft our own, like I said, I would rather draft a Wr in the 1st and 3rd round. Then give up a 1st, 3rd, and a player— then cash out Boldin.. That is too much to spend..

Injury prone

That’s the first I’ve seen somebody mention that in a while. You’re right. It’s pointless to sell the farm for a guy who will maybe, maybe play 10 games.

I’ve had Boldin in FF the last coupla years, so I know how often the dude’s injured. He’s great when he’s in there, but it’s always something. Didn’t we just get rid of a WR for those very reasons?

That #38 sure should wrap up!

by Bigrigga31 on Aug 19, 2008 9:57 AM CDT to parent up   0 recs

Someone had a break down of Boldin's injurys

and from what I recall from those stats he is not injury prone. 3 out of 5 seasons Boldin has had over 1000 yards. Not bad……

Someone else also pointed out if you take TO out of the lineup who do we have. Which was a great point.

Crayton
Austin
Hurd
Stanback

ewwwhhhhh……

The only one scaring any defense out of the that group would be Austin.

We would be in a world of hurt my friends!

That’s the reason Boldin would make alot of sense.

Look up... get up...Don't ever, ever give up!!

by Boyzfan94 on Aug 20, 2008 10:59 AM CDT to parent up   0 recs

I guess as vet WRs go

Boldin is no more injury prone than TO. Both of those guys are big, fast, and strong. They catch every type of pass and look to make something of them even if they risk taking big shots. They aren’t just field stretchers like Moss.

I look for Boldin to have a similar career to TO. He really seems to be adament about getting out of AZ.

I just get disappointed when I have him in Fantasy and can’t keep him in every, single game, but it’s a tough sport, especially the way he plays.

He’s one of my favorite WRs in the game and deserves a star on his helmet!

Boldin isn't fast

He runs like a 4.7 so he’s definitely not a field stretcher. He’s a great possession receiver much like Crayton.

Boldin is clearly not in T.Os league by any stretch of the imagination as T.O. is much faster and more athletic.

And that is not what this offense will be about this year.

Terry's right....he's not fast at all....but speed doesn't make a great WR

He has vision, power, elusive cut back ability…can seperate, and fights for the ball in traffic…………It’s always been his moniker….He’s a YAC guy…much like TO, though not as explosive….There aren’t many that cause more damage AFTER they catch the ball then those two……

btw….Stanback is molded in the same form as well……YAC will be his great asset as well….as he’ll prove this season…

Well..

TO has missed only 2 games 3 out of the last 4 seasons. The only season he missed more than that is was the year Roy got to him..

As for Boldin he has missed 5 plus games 2 out of the last 4 seasons..

I wasn’t comparing him to T.O., I was making a true statement that he misses at least 30% of the teams games every other season. For that reason, I don’t want to give up that much..

And

it’s not just the games he misses. It takes a while when he comes back to get back to 100%. One game last year he caught a ton of short passes cuz they didn’t want to push him deep.
