What would you give up?
Anquan Bolden has asked Arizona to trade him. He is unhappy with his salary (poor thing).
My question is: If you were GM, what would you be willing to give up for him and what do you think the Cards would accept?
I would be willing to give up #1 pick in 2009 draft, Roy Williams, and Me-Tellus Bennet.
I think the Cards might take that. If they wanted the #1 and #2 plus RW, I would have to think hard on that.
Bolden is the real deal and TO can't dominate forever.
Thoughts?

A bit much...
I would offer a number one and Ware…for once I’m somewhat in agreement with JJT.
I don’t see anything to gain for either team by throwing in Miles Austin, Bennet or additional picks.
As for Williams, I don’t see how he’s a good fit in AZ…

Ware?
Are you serious? Roy Williams(WR) will be a free agent next year and would not be surprised at all if he signs here in Dallas. Roy’s not all about money and I think would sign a reasonable offer to play for the team he grew up rooting for.

It woudd take atleast a first and third round pick
Why would they or any team want Roy Williams, the two safeties they have starting are better than Roy..

I wouldn't offer anything for him
I see Austin, Stanback and Hurd producing in the future, we don’t need that big salary.

Not for Bennett...
We don’t need a first round draft choice, or for that matter we can live without Roy, but I see greatness in Bennett, give him time to develop. Personally I don’t see a need for Boldin either, not this year, maybe next.

+1
Thank you, they’re not gonna trade Bennett after just drafting him.
Yes, grab Boldin next year and have him play one year under his current contract, then Jerry can afford $12 mil in the uncapped 2010 year.

Aint ever going to happen, but..
! would give 1st , 3rd and Crayton

I would too
I like Crayton, but Hurd is essentially the same guy. It’s steep, but I think he’s the difference from going from contender to favorite.

trade
I would give a 1st round pick for him..

Another wrinkle
Kevin Curtis of the Eagles had sports hernia surgery today and will be out “for a while”, at least into part of the regular season. Philly may be our direct competition for Boldin. I DO NOT want him there.

No first round pick
I would not give up a first round draft pick for Boldin, and maybe not even a second round pick. The team as currently built is easily talented enough to win it all. I don’t think Boldin would substantially improve the output of our already high-scoring offense or substantially increase our chances of winning it all this season so I’m not willing to mortgage the future by trading draft picks. As much as I detest Crayton, I don’t think he is a weak link anymore. He had a pretty nice season for being the third option. Would we be a better team with Boldin? Yeah, but realistically, there is only one football and after Witten, TO and the running backs get their share how much is left?
Teams that trade draft picks for high priced veterans usually regret it because it is a double whammy: you lose a draft pick and it wreaks havoc on your salary structure.
Now, would I give up Roy Williams and M. Bennett for Boldin? Perhaps, but I’m not that keen on having a second receiver making the $8-10M he is demanding, and I wouldn’t want a sulking Boldin playing for Dallas under the same contract he is under now.

Yeah
no way Dallas can give him 9-10 mil$ a season, unless you guys are cool with some combo of Ware, Canty, and Colombo not being resigned.

I'm prepared to lose Canty OR Colombo
We can’t keep everyone, no matter how hard we try. The intent is to mak sure not to lose anyone indispensable.

Both those guys are indispensible.
Just because they didn’t make the ProBowl doesn’t mean they aren’t vital cogs to the lines.
I’d rather have Dallas keep the talent they have then take somebody else’s castoffs.

I like the team we have
so if Boldin doesn’t come here, no biggie. Just gotta cover him if he goes to Philly.
But…
If I could get him for a 1st and a 3rd, I’d do it. Think about it: if you can get a bonafide star football player (he’s not just a WR, he’s like Zach playing WR—a football player) who is proven, why not do it? 1st round picks, ESPECIALLY WRs, are humangous gambles!
Our 1st should be low as hell anyways, and we have 2 3rds.

At this point
I wouldn’t give anything, I don’t think they’ll trade Boldin now.
If we were clearly one major piece away from a team that could go all the way, then you’d have to consider giving up a lot. But I don’t think it’s obvious at all. I think we already have the team in place. Every aspect of the offense should be improved from last years team, and that was a record setting offense. I’d pass.

I would present Arizona with an offer of our 1st rounder, WR-Patrick Crayton, and our 3rd rounder......
and if that didn’t get their attention…..I’d thrown in one of our 6th rounders as well……That is more than fair enough for a WR they most definately can’t afford to keep, and a deal we can surely make with our abundance of picks next season……..Mark my words people…Boldin IS and WILL get traded…..and if it isn’t to us…It would be a travesty we let him get away………
Keep in mind people, we have several of our key young players already locked up to multi year contracts…..we have players nearing the end of their stay here ( whether it’s an expiration or an outright release) that’s also going to free up cap space, with an impending no cap in ‘10 and beyond…it’s not the money i’m concerned with….btw…Boldin will not get 9-10 million per…..he’s not in Moss/TO/Fitz class ….he’s more in line with 7-8 million per, which I surely think we can afford if we were to trade away Crayton’s 3-4 million per contract, and didn’t have to pay out for the draft picks given up to aquire Boldin….
Like Deke sez…This is a no brainer……and completes our entire roster (besides QB depth) for the next 3-5 years……
btw…..Don’t look for all our draft picks (even the early round guys) in the near future to even make the team…..as this young roster will continue to be a difficult to crack……just ask Carp, MB, Spencer, Tank, Free, Watkins, and Burnett….so giving a little extra to land a bonafide Pro Bowler that would completely make our offense virtually unstoppable for many years to come……wouldn’t be a hard decision for me……..Make the deal……..Jerry

While I'm a little uncomfortable with it
I think if we sent back a startable WR in Crayton and 1st AND 3rd round picks, they’d have to say yes. They’re not going to get a better deal than that. It all depends on the cap, though. I think Columbo is probably a goner anyway, but Boldin would be a huge salary addition.

I just don't see it...
Boldin’s numbers last year aren’t a whole lot better than Crayton, granted that is in Arizona. I think we are fine with Crayton, there is no need to go get someone right now.

As much as I would love to get Boldin it's not
going to happen. It’s a little late in the game to be trading away a elite WR. Arizona needs all the help they can get on offense because their defense stinks…
