OLB Anthony Spencer's right knee injury was worse than the Cowboys thought.
Wade Phillips said Spencer is expected to miss 2-4 weeks after undergoing arthroscopic surgery on his right knee today. That means the 2007 first-round pick could miss the first two games of the regular season, putting plans to increase his role on hold.
The Cowboys thought Spencer suffered a bone bruise on his knee during the preseason opener. They considered him day-to-day after it happened, but doctors decided to clean up part of the patella tendon because of swelling.
"It kept getting irritated," Phillips said. "It'd go down and then it'd go back. There was just a particle in there that kept catching."
Spencer's surgery significantly increases the odds of sixth-round pick Erik Walden making the team.

Okay guys
no more trade talks. This proves that every position is succeptible to weakening, no matter how much depth we think we have.
That #38 sure should wrap up!

If anything
Thank God that these injuries happened somewhat early AND that they’re not season-ending blows.

Plus I like that the first couple of games, the young guys will get some real playing time, in case we need them down the road.
