New Orleans Wideouts???

I think we were all trying to "get into the spirit" of believing in Crayton, Hurd, and Austin as being able to provide support to TO and the passing game.  If Wade and the coaches believe in them, that's good enough for me...and I have to admit, Crayton has been impressive.  Heck, so has Hurd and Miles.  But now it seems like we have to face facts...Amendola and Jefferson aren't ready, and we're sacrificing some strong looks and making it easier for defenses to read us by splitting Witten out wide.

New Orleans has a stacked WR corps...do you think we would be well served to attempt a trade for any of this crowded house, particularly Devery Henderson, Lance Moore, David Patten, or Terrace Copper?  I'm just really concerned about our depth of quality talent here.  Maybe I'm being paranoid.

Any thoughts?

Rumor has it they will be cutting someone good

So I think we can wait them out for some depth. Not sure how similar our offensive systems are, however.

Devery Henderson, Lance Moore, David Patten, or Terrace Copper

not exactly guys I’m thinking about when we’re looking for an upgrade at the WR position…………pass

Terrance Copper & Sean Payton...

…both have experience with Romo, so it wouldn’t be far-fetched to see Copper released and Dallas sign him.

I think of Copper along the same lines as Hurd and Austin — players that provide depth and have knowledge of da system.

And by signing someone like him who has “some” familiarity with our offense — and starting QB — there will be less of a learning curve, so to speak.

Just a theory.

Copper would fit well in Dallas, especially because he’s a really, really good ST player.

That #38 sure should wrap up!

Outstanding point, Big...

I forgot about how well he plays on Special Teams. That’s ALWAYS a plus!!!

He's also the most likely of that group to be waived tomorrow.

If not him, then Patten. But I’m not too familiar with Patten lately.

He was a good ST. Once in a while he could get open and make a catch. I would take him over Danny and Jefferson.

Same system?

Copper played under the Payton/Sparano system and we cut him. Now granted he could have blossomed some since then, I dont really know, haven’t watched alot of Saints games. But he’s definetly not coming back to the same offensive system. So there will be a learning curve.

Yeah

but him and romo might still have timing or some chemistry. Romo defn threw to him alot being second string and all back then

What the French?! Toast!

Granted

And Im not saying it wont happen. But he’s not going to be of any real help week 1, no one is for that matter, unless Glenn goes to a tent revival and gets miraculously healed. By the time just about anyone we pick up starts to get a bit of familiarity with the offense Hurd and Austin will most likely be returning. So unless some surprise cut is made by another team or a trade is made for a truely talented receiver I just dont see the point. In the meantime, who do we cut to make room?

by WB3forMB3 on Aug 30, 2008 11:42 AM CDT up reply actions

Jefferson and Amendola

Keep Copper for a month, or when ever Austin is healthy enough to participate. He’s only got to learn enough of the offense to be the 3rd WR, plus he’s a good ST contributer. 2 birds with one stone.

Mosley has the Saints cuts on ESPN

And Copper isn’t one of them. But you know who is? Skyler Green! We’re saved!

Just kidding. Bummer on Copper though.

we really nail that 4th round pick or completely fail lol

i remember how people thought Green was going to finally solve our Returner problems and be a real good one lol but we had to wait till this season for that to happen with Pacman, who actually is one of the best in the NFL, probably only behind Hester….I heard some people say he was better than Hester….maybe if Pacman was returning kicks behind the Bears Special Teams then he wouldv’e done just as good or better….who knows? but i am glad that Pac is a pro bowl CB outside of being a phenomenal Return man and considering Jacque Reeves started almost every game last year, I’d rather have Pacman and am very glad we do….
